Hey! Barry and his people like crack
Crack Cocaine, that is...
Seems that Crack, which has destroyed poorer neighborhoods ....a disproportionately higher number of black
neighborhoods.....and a higher number of black citizens are arrested for possession than any other race.....
So what is the solution? Reduce the penalty for possession of crack....
Yeah, that'll help/ It'll keep fewer black folks (and, lets face it, fewer of everyone) from being tossed in prison....But IT WON"T HELP THE DRUG PROBLEM.
Gotta keep the racial balance and all that....Fools.

Until, of course, after the elections.
Make no mistake, the left, and Holder are playing for keeps. The justice department (not capitalized for a reason) wants to keep this until things are settled after the election. Having the law held in abeyance will help them in the polls. And they know they need all the help they can get.
Dirty pool, but legal. And the court says that "the only effect of the district court's injunction in this case is to preserve a status quo that has existed for a long period of time."....IN other words...We like it they way it is, and we don't see an immediate need to change things.
What happens to the governor, and her LEOs if she decides to tell the court to go piss up a rope and begins following the law as it is enacted? Would the feds really be willing to push the issue enough to arrest her? It would bring the issue to a boil even faster....Wonder if she has the guts?

How many extra Secret Service
Personnel will be assigned to Chelsea's wedding?
I mean, It's Bill Clinton gonna be there.....How many SS agents will it take to keep him from doing something stupid with one of her bridesmaids?
I have unconfirmed reports that the wedding invitations requested "No blue dresses". Also, reports are that people are discouraged from standing between Bill and Hillary, for fear that they will freeze to death....
Seriously:
My best wishes to Chelsea and Marc.....

Yep
Told ya they'd keep trying.
However: I see this as good news....It means that at least someone in the government must think that the AZ law sill be upheld, despite the activist judge who put a hold on it until it is adjudicated by a court......and, of course, the myriad appeals which will follow....(seriously, while her arguments were stupid and poorly thought out, I think that she had good reason to put a stay on the law until it IS reviewed by a court) ....if they didn't feel that it would be upheld, then they wouldn't be making contingency plans to get around the resultant issues.
So I see this as good news. My thought is that the Administration and the DNC (but I repeat myself) are just hoping that this is held off until after the elections before there is any decision.

Hell, I think it's funny.
But then again, I own several 1911's....most more or less standard.

Us VS "Them"
Who is the "Us"?? That would be those who believe against statism, and for states rights. Those who believe in the rule of law, and that the law should be followed, not ignored. We believe that if the law needs changing to meet new conditions, then we have procedures in place to do so, and we should follow those procedures, not allow the laws to be ignored by some part of the government, nor should that same government be allowed to force the non enforcement of a law, either through a presidential decree, nor through the courts. Those of us who believe that the government should worry about national security, and police, and fire protection, and not about paying unproductive and shortsighted people to do less. Those of us who believe in less government, not more..Those of us who believe in getting ahead by working, and taking charge of our life, not taking what the government gives us and asking for more but never doing anything to personally improve our lives....Those of us who believe that to be a citizen is a right, but one which comes with an obligation to give to the country, not just take....
"Them" would be those who disagree....Those who would flaunt their failure to follow the law. Those who care less for the country and the welfare of its citizens than the welfare of those outside the country, and who illegally enter its borders and who do not contribute to the system. Those who think that human rights trump the rights of the citizens of this country, and who would hurt those who make this country great in order to help those who failed to do so in their own country. "Them" would be those who feel that the greatness of the US is not the citizens, but rather the leaders and the "State", and who would do anything to make themselves be the leaders (and those folks who support such misguided fools). Those who would use anything to stay in power, even to the point of weakening their country in order to make "the end justify the means" ....Those who would not raise the "downtrodden" by giving them the means and opportunity to succeed or fail on their own, but rather by tearing down the very people who have made this country great though their own hard work and efforts. Who would rather level the playing field by shaving off the high spots instead of filling in the low spots.
Over at Tams, there is a discussion as to whether the issue of illegal immigration is the point of conflict which will be divisive enough. I say yes, it has the potential to be. I also suggest that this could lead to civil war, as the Statists reach too far, and the rest of us (the productive bill paying 52% of the citizens that are really paying the bills for the country) soon stand up and cry "ENOUGH!".
This may well be the thing that sparks the fire.
I sincerely hope not....I hope that fire never ignites. But the fuel is stacked, and the conflagration will happen if we are not careful.
They think that we "Tea Party" and "country folk" her in flyover country are mean spirited, and they accuse us of being violent. They have no idea of the kind of violence we law abiding citizens are capable of, but which we seldom ever let escape the leash of decency by which we hold it in check. They haven't seen the kind of violence which awaits them if and when the spark ignites the differences in the country. I hope that no one ever sees that. But I think it is coming....if not this issue, then the next.
God help us (and "Them"!) and the rest of the country when it does.

Another example from where Great Britain used to be....
Some people don't understand what war, and fighting in general, is all about.
Kill people, break things, in larger numbers than your opponent, until such time as he is orced to give up the fight.
If this offends the other side, too bad. If they really really don't like it, even better. If it makes them uncomfortable enough to give up the fight earlier, then more power to the fighters who are making them unhappy. You can't kill people in wholesale lots and yet be "culturally sensetive" at the same time.
But then again, true warriors make the weenies feel , well, kinda scared and weak kneed, and causes them to have to change their undewear more often. And it is thesse weenies who weaken the nation, and hobble the warriors in their mission. Niceness has no place in war. Horably killing the enemy does, but in the end, you ARE killing them. IF the condition of the body is not to the liking of his survivors, well, as the saying goes....."Don't want none? Don't bring none." The folks fighting against the coalition in Afghanistan seem to have less respect for our warriors than ours do for theirs.....So if occasionally someone on our side does something that they don't like with one of their dead, then that should be a lesson to them as well. I don't see where they have taken the time to worry about our cultural sensetivities when the blow themselves up in a crowd, or behead or mutilate folks on our side. And, to be honest, they seem to feel any worries we might have about offending them on our part as weakness.

Perhaps Barry should apply this to nearly any of his endeavors:

Conquest.....
If we let them, that is....
Thing is, there has to be a balance between freedom, and tolerance, and realizing the lessons of history. While there is a part of me which wishes to allow the mosque to be built (the tolerant, easygoing part, which recognizes religious freedom, and believes that if they have the money to buy the land, andpay off the politicians and building inspectors follow the proper procedures, they should be allowed to build) and the part of me that realizes that Islam is a patient religious and political movement which will see this as another step towards their conquest of the US....Next step Dhimmitude.
If the pattern of history is followed, there will next be some sort of complaint against the neighbors, with restrictions requested in the name of "religion"....Think of the demands for foot washing basins in the airport in Kansas City for the taxi drivers. Expect the mosque to demand that no pork products or alcohol are served within 500 ft of the mosque....and many other slow but steady reductions in control by the city and the state...Read the 2nd article to see how the Muslim taxi drivers in Minnesota refused to carry passengers with alcohol, or to carry dogs...even guide dogs. It's an example of how they try to bring their culture to the US, and normalize it.
History shows that most temples are built on or near sites of conquest, or on and with the rubble of the previous owners religious buildings....Is this the case here? Or is it just an attempt to take control of an area near a major Muslim victory against infidels and their culture? Perhaps I am wrong in all of this,,,,Perhaps this is just a matter of a bunch of people wanting a place to worship in their own way.....But I think that this is more than that. I think it is a symbol of control and domination of the infidel in his own garden.
Send the link to all your friends. You haven't seen diddly on your local or national news media, have you? Wonder why? Are they afraid? Or are they complicit in the quest for conquest? Why haven't we heard about this via the Mainstream Media? We hear all about Lindsay Lohan...on and on....ad nauseum, Isn't this more important? Shouldn't the MSM do the job we expect and cover this story at least a bit....Isn't something like this more important to the nation?
I am all for religious freedom. But this is, at best, insensitive....If the Muslims wish for free reign, then they should begin by setting an example in their own countries...Is there a single synagogue or Christian church in Saudi Arabia?

Today I created 981 jobs (I had other things to do, so that part of the day was cut short).
I could do better, but I need more "stimulus" money and more time.
No seriously....It's true! True, I tell ya. Just wait and see. This thing will work. I'm tellin' ya .....
Hey! Barry O!
Sounds just as stupid coming from you as from me....Now you know how the rest of us see your bullshit pronouncements.

Cleaning
The chore of cleaning is the only thing I regret after a day at the range.....
But spending an afternoon at the range with Midwest Chick, Og, and Partner is still worth the effort of scrubbing the lead and powder ash from the barrel.
We caused a great deal of tissue and organ damage to the paper targets, then burned the rest of the pistol ammo with wholesale slaughter of bowling pins.
Og is a mean shot with his .380 Colt (officers?) and Partner is greased lightning on ball bearings with his new 92....Midwest Chick is also a mean shot with my 1911. We all ran out of centerfire and finished the genocide with our .22 pistols.
If there is a better way to waste an afternoon for me, than turning loaded rounds into smoke and noise, in the company of good people.... then I cannot tell you what it is.

Hard to argue with
Read.
Of course, there is this to consider.....It's not the speaker, or even the message, but the reaction of the audience (in this case, the NAACP members). Were these white cops, then, of course, the outcry, the wailing and gnashing of teeth would still be resonating.
Racism is bad. Period.

Girlie-men.
There has been a great deal of discussion about the maniless (or lack therof) in modern men recently. (mostly by women.....)
Women bemoan the lack of what they perceive as manliness in the men they meet and date, and yet they often wish that the man they might meet will be "sensitive", "caring", able to share his emotions, nurturing, and in other words, act like one of their girlfriends.
YOU CAN"T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS, LADIES! You want a man, then get a man. Want a metrosexual weenie? Then go get one of those. While the traits are not necessarially mutually exclusive, if you want a soft, girly man then expect to get one that is soft, and most likely a beta male. Or, deal with the fact that the traits of a manly man (by whatever definition you may use) often come with....well, lets call it baggage.
First, you have to decide what you want in a man. Do you want Dirk Dastardly, the guy that makes your blood boil when you read your "bodice ripper"? Do you seek a man who will stand up for, provide for, and protect his family? Or do you want a male version of your girlfriends? A manly man may have some of, but only some of those qualities. He may not be as exciting as that fellow Dirk, nor as caring (or have as good a fashion sense) as the two gay guys across the street. He will not share "feelings" with you as your girlfriend does....He will have faults.
He will no doubt be less in touch with his emotions than those 2 gay guys, or as your girlfriends, but trust me, the manly man has emotions....He just won't let then show as much. He might take charge... He may be less of a housekeeper that you are, may not be able to detect the difference between pink and peach. He most likely will not share as much with you as to what his fears or frustrations are. He likely won't have a "feminine" side. Deal with it. You get what you choose to have.
Likely, your "manly man" will be able to do many things. Likely, he will expect you to do some things better than he can. Likely, he will have roles for men and women in his mind. He will likely be polite to women, open doors and pull out chairs and such. There will be conversational barriers which he will not comfortably cross until he gets to know you. He may like sports to a degree which you cannot understand. Accept the fact that he is not one of your girlfriends. Enjoy the differences. You want a female roomie born with testicles as original equipment? You (generally) aren't gonna find one who is a manly man.
And ladies:
When you reproduce, if you have a male child, develop him into a man. Don't try to hide his aggressiveness by not letting him play with "boy" toys....Don't drug him into docility, so he acts like a girl at school. . Let him have toy guns, let him have balls and bats, and when he plays team sports, let them keep score. Let him learn how to lose with honor, and win with grace. Teach him how to be courteous. Teach him manners to other people, and especially women. Teach him to treat women with respect. Be a mother which he can use a a yardstick against which to measure other women. Let him be a boy, so he can grow up to be a man, with guidance from you and his father.
Read this essay. Learn from it. Think of all those commercials which show wimpy, emasculated men who need their women to show them the way. Is it any wonder that your boy child is growing up to be a girlie-man? Teach him otherwise. Do so in order that the next generation of women can find men manly enough for them.

An excuse?
Seems the blogging host that was shut down was host to (alleged) Al Queda sites. I understand the (alleged) reasons for shutting the individual blogs down, but to take the whole server down for this? And confiscate the server with no recourse?
One wonders.
All those blogs, gone forever. For no real reason. It would (should) be technically feasible to dump all the data, or make a backup of the other blogs. Alternatively, to simply shut down access to the (alleged) blogs in question.
Methinks that there is something else involved in this.
And dollars to doughnuts the people using the (alleged) blogs for nefarious purposes will simply set up another account and be back in business in no time.
Is the DHS that technically inept? Or is there more to this? Or do they simply not care?
One wonders.

Also today
Was the culmination of the team effort, the national goal, that put 2 men on the moon.
and since then, the US hasn't done much, really, in space.
But that day, millions upon millions of people watched as 2 men took the first steps ever on another world.
Then we began the slide into socialism. Spending our money on those who refuse to work, and less and less on the things which make this country greater than it was.
Armstrong and Aldrin got the credit, and they were indeed brave men. But many others who worked to put them there should share in their glory. NASA had many workers who did their jobs to place those men on the moon.
Sadly, NASA has declined ever since.
But today we should remember those who made history......the entire team who placed Mr Armstrong in a position to be the first on the moon.
I was 5 that day.
and since then, the US hasn't done much, really, in space.
Today
I saved or created 187.5 jobs.
Seriously.
Hey, If the big O can claim such stuff with absolutely zero proof, so can I.....

Health care mandate is now a tax....?
See HERE for their arguments as to why the mandate is legal.....It is now a tax, and comes under the commerce clause. Interesting change of story in the part of the left to keep the mandate legal.....
Now if you will excuse me, I have to go practice my knot tying skills. I believe that they will be in demand in the not to distant future. I may buy futures in companies which make and distribute rope as well.

Don't read this if you get angry easily.....
If you haven't heard about Donald Berwick, the newly appointed "Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)" then you need to read THIS article.
Scary, for many reasons. He was a recess appointment, and therefore not subject to legislative review. He admires the (oh so successful!) socialized medicine model of the once great nation of Great Britain (now not so great...) and applauds health care rationing in such a system....
Of course, he has exempted himself and his immediate family from the same system he promotes.....
Read the article....both pages Then, when the anger fades from your eyes, realize that this man's boss is truly a socialist elitist.
But first, make sure that you cannot access any firearms for at least 15 minutes after reading. No ready access to axes, rope etc.
Seriously. This is the issue with Socialism. If you are not part of the ruling class, then you hope you can be a prostitute......At least they get paid when they get fucked.

People in glass houses...
Or "remove the mote from thine own eye..."
Let me see if I got this straight:
A racist organization (NAACP), which practices racism and excludes those not of the "right" race, and promotes and preaches (and condones) racism regularly at meetings and dinners has the audacity to condemn a movement which is inclusive (or actually just doesn't care about race) like the Tea Party and thinks that everyone will just believe what they say?
Gotcha.

Can ya say it any plainer than this???

Sure, as promised,
Under Obamacare, we can all keep the HEALTH CARE PLANS WE CURRENTLY HAVE....
Sure we can.
Lying sack of socialist shits. If the American people really knew how much you have, and are, screwing them, they'd burn DC to the ground, and no Senator or Representative would ever be safe from harm again.

Preparation
Read THIS post by Nataog regarding stuff to put in yer long term preps...
Me: I gots them already.....
I might be shy a bit on ketchup and perhaps a bit on booze ("do we have enough chips to go along with all this beer?") but other than that I am ok.
And his advice is, I think, sound.

"Dear Laser Enthusiasts,
This announcement is to let the laser community know that our laser
hobby is currently under attack. Last month, we received a cease
and desist letter from Lucasfilm demanding that we discontinue,
recall and modify our laser products they referred to as
"lightsabers" or face imminent legal action.
CNN - 'Star Wars' creator says laser too much like lightsaber
Lasers are have a wide variety of applications in the scientific,
medical, and industrial fields. We cannot allow George Lucas to
threaten the livelihood and freedom of laser and flashlight
technology. Science developed from decades of research should not
be owned by science fiction.
Please help the cause by participating in the Lasers for Liberty
community and by signing the petition to Lucasfilm.
O jesus, you'd think they'd have a clue...
Bad publicity is generally not worth the effort. But apparently Lucasfilms will do anything to "protect" their image...More likely, they are pissed that they didn't think of the idea first.
I hope my laser ships soon.

Recycling
So I get this box today, via USPS.....It is addressed to me. The outside of the box says "Magpul UBR Utility/Battle rifle stock"...Whuttt?
I says to myself......Did I order a rifle stock???? Might be that I did and I just forgot......Nah....?
It's from some guy in Knoxville.....? Did I order something from someone in Knoxville? Who do I know in Knoxville? Hmmmm....
I am sure that I didn't order another collapsible stock for my AR.....I think? Long time backorder maybe?
Could be.....? Nah, I am sure I didn't order anything Magpul.....I already own half their catalog.....
Wait....Magpul is in, like, Boulder, CO or someplace like that, right?.....So WTF? Over?
I dunno?
Then, carefully, I opened my pocketknife and slit the tape....
Gently peeking under the flap.....Nope, no wires or anything like that.....I think it's not a bomb or anything (I hope)...I opened it further....
To find the copy of "Oren's War" that is being passed on to me from Linoge at Wallsofthecity.net.
Not only recycling books, but boxes too. Lowering the carbon footprint and all that.
Betcha AlGore doesn't do that.
Now I gotta send Linoge a check for postage....And handling.....Wonder what the handling fee is gonna be????

Averages and graphs. Highs vs averages vs mean.
Borepatch has an interesting article about averages and extremes when it comes to weather and aging and such.
Read it. Worth your time

Russian subs
Are some of the very few that can work at 5000 ft. Yet the US government and BO aren't interested in trying to use them rather than ROV's.... where they MIGHT be more capable.
wonder why?
Perhaps they aren't clean enough for the EPA or maybe it's the Jones act thing again....
Whatever.
I'll begin thinking that this a real catastrophe when they start acting like it is a real catastrophe.

'cause pork isn't made from pigs....?
And apparently, the stuff you buy in the store, wrapped in plastic and on a little tray, isn't really dead flesh....
"I have watched this show from the beginning and after last night's episode I was so disgusted, I had to turn it off. A lot of my friends have said the same thing and will stop watching the show like me. It is a shame because all of us really liked the show. The Beekman boys have enough money to buy meat and they still went through with slaughtering these pigs after they had raised them from babies. It would be different if they were poor and needed to kill the animals on the farm for food. You probably lost a lot of viewers from that episode. I have no respect for these men anymore or your network. I will be spreading the word. I am forwarding my comment to people who protect animals and not slaughter them when it is not necessary. It is one thing to watch an animal killed in a movie where you know this is not real, but to happen on a reality show and to show the pigs on the ground bleeding was traumatic to watch."
The truth is a real bitch to those who are city liberals, isn't it? Apparently, some folks are so isolated that they cannot imagine that that meat which they buy in a store was once a sentient, living, breathing animal.
I was raised in a rural household. We raised chickens and lambs for slaughter every year. Some of them we slaughtered ourselves. My parents made sure that I know where my meat came from...
I like steak, chops, roasts, yard-bird, turkey, venison, etc. I have the teeth of a carnivore, and use them. Joyously. I like meat, but I understand where from it came.
Apparently, not so with some folks. Do they think that that steak that they eat is grown in a vat somewhere?

Bug out?
Interesting discussion on bugging-out in a bad situation, or staying in place.
It depends on the situation, IMO.
You should always, if possible, bug-in, and yet, should the situation require it, be prepared to bug-out.
Best to have options. Preparing for both takes little effort, and most of the bug out requirements can be used in a stay-put scenario as well.

Coincidence????
Story stolen from TB2K:
Woman shot in the head
Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries.
Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the driveway with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head.
He became concerned and walked over to the car. He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and had been holding her brains in for over an hour.
The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her head.
When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head. A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly recovered.
Linda is female, blonde, a Democrat and an Obama supporter, but that could all be a coincidence.
Yeah, I know it is an old, recycled joke....You still smiled.

Betcha she doesn't ever get into a White House Presser ever again....
Good question though. Seems Gibbs was stumped....And it does appear to be selective prosecution....
PC gone over the edge
All because somebody feels sorry for those cute turtles, birds puppies or kitties or whatever.
No more pet sales in 'Frisco...
Perhaps we should build a border fence along the Kalifornia border as well, and release them from the US. We could still trade with them through specific border crossings.
Your Nanny State in action.

Politics
So the big O has decided to put politics and ideology over the security of the citizens of the United States.
Seems that they are going ahead with the lawsuit against Arizona regarding the new law allowing the police and other LEO to check citizenship or immigration status during traffic stops or other interactions.
So the security of the nation and the citizens (and taxpayers) of the state of Arizona takes a backseat to the liberal ideology.
Check.
Much like the parks that are now off limits to the US citizens who own them in order that the drug gangs from Mexico can operate freely, will the administration abandon the state of AZ? Since the feds won't do anything, and now they are trying to prevent any local LEO from protecting the state, will they just relinquish the territory of Arizona?
Perhaps this is an attempt to get all those immigrants into the US so that he can grant them citizenship in his "comprehensive immigration reform" in order to get all those new voters lined up to support the DNC candidates. ???
Or perhaps he has decided that it is up to the federal government to ignore the issue, not the states.

If this is true,
(and I am trying to verify all of it) then we need to go to the home improvement store TODAY, and buy some lumber (if there are no sturdy lampposts handy) and a bit of rope.
THIS is what I am talking about.
Might could be the thing that makes each and every none of us get off the dime and actually begin to have a revolution.
If you don't know how to tie the knot, the look at THIS or THIS link.
I am sure you can figure out who's neck the thing needs to be around.
Lies, lies, lies. The Obama Administration seems to think that each of us will accept this....They have gotten away with adding much to our burden.
Will we stand idly by and allow him and his cohorts to continue to destroy this country and our way of life?
What would those 56 men who signed the Declaration think of us today? Would they think that their sacrifice was in vain? Would they think that we are worth their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor"?
I think not. Were they alive today, they'd be organizing for another revolution. And looking at us with disgust.

Remember
Please, remember what the 4th of July stands for:
Today is not about hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, not about taking the day off work, or a three-day weekend....It's not about having the day off to spend the weekend at the lake with your boat or the jet-skis....It is not about drinking beer with others.... or fireworks...Or any combination of the above.
Today is the day when we celebrate the beginning of the country known as the United States. Today was the date that the Declaration of Independence was ratified by congress. This was not the only significant day in the birth of our nation, but today is the day on which we celebrate the declaration that the thirteen colonies would no longer answer to King George.
Today was the day in which 56 signers of the Declaration chose to defy the King, and to declare their independence. They chose to sign, pledging their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. Many did indeed lose their fortunes, some their lives, but all held onto their honor.
We have a country today, arguably the best on earth, only because these men took the step they did, and then later, created the Constitution which sets forth the principles of governance of we, the citizens of this United States. But this post is not about the Constitution, but rather the day which memorializes the declaration that this country and the colonies and its citizens would no longer be subjects of, nor under the rule of, a far away king. This day, 234 years ago, those 56 signers threw their defiance at a country and a king, and declared a new country. They became criminals in the eyes of their then king and his government. It took courage to do what they did. They essentially started a war.
So today, and Monday if you have it off, enjoy your beer, your hot dogs/hamburgers, etc. Live life happy if you are at the lake enjoying your boating. If you are at a gathering, be happy with your friends or family.
But remember why you have this day off from work. Take a moment to reflect on the momentous thing which we memorialize and celebrate on this Independence day, this July 4th 2010. Remember what happened in 1776 and be glad that it did. Take a moment, raise a glass, THINK about what this day really means. If you have children, take the time to explain why this is such a momentous day. Explain to them that it is not just about a day off of work, nor fireworks, but why this day is important. Take the time to follow the link and read the text of the declaration. Think what a momentous document it is.
And say thank you to 56 men who had courage.

on "McDonald"
Everyone is happy. I am too, in a way. But I am disappointed also:
The Supremes didn't really give us what we wanted, either in overturning the law in Chicago, or in providing clear direction as to what was acceptable vs what is not regarding limits to the 2nd. While I personally think that there should be no limits, clearly there will be some. But with no clear direction or ruling, all that they have done is to open the door for more litigation and more strife They have said that the law in Chicago was too broad, but have not defined what "too broad" really is. The next set of limitations that will soon be in place in Chicago will, of course, be tried in court. This will take years, likely again with no clear ruling. Without such ruling, there can be no argument against laws in other states like California or Massachusetts or Wisconsin. Without such rulings, we as supporters of the 2nd have effectively been emasculated. There can be little agitation for change, as they have effectively not given us a set of rules to agitate against. Nor can we, in the near future, see any standard for carriage of arms across state lines, nor have we any hope to get a nationwide standard of LTC laws or rules.
So I am disappointed. This ruling for "McDonald", like "Heller" is not really a set of answers to the issues we really need to have defined and resolved.
Perhaps this was the intent of the Court. Perhaps it was simply cowardice.Perhaps they are merely stalling any real decision.
Either way, a time for rejoicing (yay) and a time to face a disappointment.
We essentially got nothing from the Supreme Court. Except a continuation of turmoil and litigation.

Stupid gap
Read the comments.
A reason for the "wealth or income gap": Smart people keep on doing things that are smart and make them money while stupid people keep on doing things that are stupid and keep them from achieving.
People who get an education, stay off of drugs, apply themselves, and save and wisely invest their earnings do a lot better than people who drop out of school, become substance abusers, and buy fancy cars and houses that they can't afford, only to lose them.
We don't have an income gap. We have a stupid gap. Guess which group voted for Obama

We don't have an income gap. We have a stupid gap. Guess which group voted for Obama

THIS poll, while not very scientific, is nonetheless telling.
And the story ain't so good for Mr. Obama.
Incompetence is what you generally get when you select an academic.....and when said academic has as his crowning achievement a failed community organizing job, which wasted a bunch of tax dollars with no real solution to the problems which they were trying to fix.....
Hope&Change and all that doesn't get you very far in the real world, does it, Barry?

Sweet buttery Jesus, I hate Wal-Mart.
Not that I have anything against the retailer themselves. They sell decent goods (mostly) at low prices. I wish that they had more products that are made in the US, but that doesn't go with the low price thing so much, so there it is... I generally avoid the place, but I am partial to their cheap tennis shoes, which I consider as disposables for working in the yard and such.
What I hate are the people at Wal-Mart. Not the clerks and stockers, but the customers. Generally they are either self centered (stop to chat in the middle of the aisle, and block anyone behind them while they discuss their teeth or whatever with someone they haven't seen in a week or so) or massively overweight, unable to control either their hips or the cart, and colliding with anyone/anything that isn't actively dodging them. (now you know why Wal-Mart has such wide aisles)...Or they are stupid enough to make a cow look like a rocket scientist.....I am talking inbred sub cattle stupid. And generally slow in their motions as well as their cognitive processes.....3 toed sloth slow.....Turtles in snow slow. And let us not even go into the interesting and varied modes of dress.
I feel like I lost 30 IQ points in there, and at least 10% of my life force.
I'm not sure it is worth it to save $20 on a pair of cheap sneakers.

Food for thought
Read. Think. Choose your side. I know where I stand...Do you?
Are you ready?
Will you stand strong and fight when the time comes? Will you be steadfast? Will you draw your line in the sand and stand by it? Will you guard this republic, and fight to keep it?
Or will you stand and watch as it is swept aside, destroyed, by the tide of socialism and "fairness"?
Sooner or later, you may have the opportunity to make your choice as to your actions. What will your choice be? Stand for something? Or watch as this great republic falls to the insidious creeping socialism which is infecting this country? Be a live coward or a dead hero? I know where my choices may lead me, and am willing ti make that decision.
I'd rather fight the good struggle valiantly and die than let this country fail due to my inaction, and die old in bed regretting my failure to act.

3 cats and a mouse deciding what is for dinner........
That's what the US will look like if we let THIS happen.
Larger/more popular states will decide who the rest of us get for a president.
I'd prefer that my state have a say as to what idiot we have in charge. If this goes through, then 4 states get to decide.....and 2 of them are socialist already.

At least buy me dinner first.....
So I got the word from the insurance company today.
While the tree was the property of my neighbor, and it is considered an "act of God" (wind) which made the tree fall on MY barn, it is MY insurance company which has responsibility for the cleanup and repairs....Not a big deal, except that it is ME who has to come up with the deductible.
$500.00
This is going to seriously impact my ammo/gun budget. I may have to cut back for 2 or three months. Maybe to less than 500 rds/month.....and no new firearms for a few months. Maybe longer.
Usually, I get drinks and dinner before getting screwed. Maybe a movie. Not so here.

Followup
Seems that this post might have been on target.
Check out this communication to AZ governor Jan Brewer regarding the AZ law allowing LEO to check for citizenship. Seems to be a common thread here. "We need comprehensive immigration reform", and we need to do this before we do anything else regarding illegal immigration....
Hope she told him to go piss up a rope.
Don't the socialists realize that the illegals are damaging the country irreparably, and that despite their socialist dreams and ideals, the illegal immigration and subsequent drain on the economy harms the legal citizens of this country?
Are their ideals more important than the welfare and security of the citizens of this country? Apparently, to them, that choice is already made. Anyone who works against the welfare of this country is a traitor, and deserves the maximum punishment. IMO, there is no difference between those who would commit espionage which harms the security of the US and those who would promote continued illegal immigration to this country with the resultant harm that those people do to the Us economy.
Were the choice up to me, anyone who chooses to promote such an agenda should be tried as a traitor and if found guilty, hung. By the neck. Until dead. Eventually, we will run out ofsocialists Democrats those who would sacrifice the interests of the citizens of the US for their ideals. their ideals.
Perhaps they will do things by FIAT or DECREE instead.

Management
I think that the O is getting a bad rap here regarding McChrystal. There is no way he can have this guy work for him after he foolishly spouted off to Rolling Stone, and after publication of his remarks.
While Obama may not be much of a manager, he really had to ask for the resignation. Criticism is one thing, this is another.
One wonders about the quality of judgement of General McCrystal. He basically fired himself once he opened his mouth.
Betcha never expected me to defend Barry, did you?

Mexico has balls.
To think that they can do this in an attempt to keep their illegal, border crossing, citizens in this country. "defending their citizens rights? What rights? They are here ILLEGALLY! They have zero rights.
Would that the Mexicans could be as open to illegal immigrants in their borders. Instead, their laws make it illegal to be in their country unless you have a visa, work permit, or are a citizen.
The courts should throw the Mexican counsel out on their ear.

What else is lost?
See THIS article about a man who resurrected the words of Edison, and other old recorded radio broadcasts...
The issue wasn't the condition of the media, but rather the loss of technology to play back the sounds. Seems that no one has a handy machine....a "pallophotophone" (shaking light sound) with which to playback the audio.
Despite the lack, and the need to "reinvent the wheel" they were successful in recreating the playback machine.
But one wonders what other media is languishing in some vault, or on a shelf, with no playback device...How much other data is lost forever, Ala NASA and the moon landing video and audio...
So does it really matter? Should we care?

Sarah Palins Breasts
are a big topic of discussion lately, size, "perkiness" etc. Did she or did she have work done....
Who cares?
The size or firmness of her breasts is of little importance when compared to the Mr. Obamas apparent lack of testicles.
We now return you to your illusion of normalcy.

High-grade Snark
Thanks to MidwestChick, we get this via TheLibertyZone.com
three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they
are entitled to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so
far failed to produce an agreement.
The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of
virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death would be cut by
25% this February from 72 to 60. A company spokesman said increases in
recent years in the number of suicide bombings has resulted in a
shortage of virgins in the afterlife.
The suicide bombers' union, the British Organization of Occupational Martyrs (B.O.O.M.) responded with a statement saying the move was unacceptable to its members and called for a strike vote. General Secretary Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of Jihad. We don't ask for much in return, but to be treated like this is like a kick in the teeth". Speaking from his shed in Tipton in the West Midlands, Al Qaeda chief executive Osama bin Laden explained, "I sympathize with our workers' concerns, but Al Qaeda is simply not in a position to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-day Jihad in a competitive marketplace. Thanks to Western depravity, there is now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife. It's a straight choice between reducing expenditures or laying people (I mean laying people off) . I don't like cutting benefits, but I'd hate to have to tell 3,000 of my staff that they won't be able to blow themselves up." Spokespersons for the union in the North East of England, Ireland, Wales, and the entire Australian continent stated that the change would not hurt their membership as there are few virgins in their areas anyway. According to some industry sources, the recent drop in the number of suicide bombings has been attributed to the emergence of Scottish singing star, Susan Boyle. Many Muslim jihadists now know what a virgin looks like and have reconsidered their benefit packages.
Incompetence
THIS is an example of the level of management at our public schools.
If the school officials have no better judgement than this, then the school administration have gone beyond the Peter Principle in their promotion policies.
If the school superintendent cannot use better judgement than was used in this incident, then he/she does not need to be in charge of an elementary school.
Period.
(IMO such a person should be slapped around a bit. Stupid should hurt once in a while...) I am sure that this was a Pacifist, Anti-Gun statement by an activist educator, but still....stupid is stupid.

Load your bayonets
Seriously, if THIS allegation is true, then we must seriously consider violence against our government.
This is politics over nation, power of ideas over national security....which in my opinion is treason and a violation of the presidential oath.To put the countries security at risk, to continue to allow people who damage our culture and our economy, just for political gain and because they think that their ideas have more merit than other......to risk the welfare and security (physical as well as economic) of us citizens in order to promote a socialist agenda......This is treason and a violation of their oath.
If true, I know of several well placed lampposts.....and I have lots of rope. I still have, somewhere, my merit badge from scouting for knots.......

Storm aftermath
As I posted earlier, my neighbors tree fell onto my barn due to storm winds Friday night....I did not think it was THAT big of a deal on Friday, as everything seemed stable......Saturday morning however, I found that the tree had settled into the barn by 8-10 inches and was settling more. The roof trusses in the barn were leaning and twisting and the walls had begun to bow as the tree settled even harder into the structure of the barn.
As this job seemed to be beyond my comfort/skill level, I called the insurance agency to see what they wanted to do....Let us just way that I was obviously not talking to the "A" team at the call center......They were very unhelpful....I suggested that they might want to get someone to perhaps decide to remove some tree weight from the roof before the barn fell.....They had zero motivation to help, and basically left the choice of contractors to me, as well as the decision to remove the tree from the roof or not." BUT," they said, "YOU MUST DO ALL YOU CAN TO MITIGATE ANY DAMAGE."
Kudos to "A Clean Cut Tree Removal" out of Wanatah, IN for their quick response and excellent work. They were fucking artists at trimming and cutting in just the right spots to remove the tree WITHOUT HITTING THE BARN WALLS. or adding to the damage. While there is still LOT of work to do, the weight is off the barn, and the roof is tarped.
And, I must say, FBI builds a strong building. The roof, while damaged, did support about 5 tons of tree, and somehow I doubt that that is a part of the design specs.
We will see how the insurance company handles things on Monday...

Father's day
Today is Fathers Day. The day we recognize and honor those men who are our fathers.
Sadly, many men are sperm donors, but never fathers.
I am lucky. I had a father. Still do, so I am doubly lucky. I am not half the man he is, and sadly, will likely never have the chance to be a father, much less one like him.
My Dad taught me how to be a man, How to stand fast, and do what is right, to be dependable as you can be. To make your word your honor. Because of my father, I can build nearly anything, fix anything that can be fixed. He took the time to do his best to teach me those skills which he felt were useful to a man in the world which he inhabited.
In the main, he was correct in his choices of skills to teach. He taught me to weld, to be a carpenter, a plumber, a veterinarian, a mechanic.....He taught me patience (as much as I can be) and honor, and compassion. He taught me to never fight unless needed, but then to fight with all the ferocity and violence I could muster. These lessons have served me well through my life. I am a better man today because I had him as a father.
While I am far from a perfect son, seldom exhibiting the traits he wishes for in a firstborn, he still shows me respect and patience and honor. He holds in his disappointment, seldom letting it show that he wishes he had a son with so many other traits.
Thanks, Dad.
There is more I should say, but I don't know how.
Love ya.

So with BP having zero control or oversight as to how the 20 billion dollars they are putting into the "slush fund" as ordered requested by Mr. Obama.....I have a question:
Who is going to make sure that the cash is spent on those who were damaged by the spill, either materially, or whose livelihoods were destroyed by damage oil does to the gulf, rather than on social programs to help the "little people" in the gulf?
I can see Acorn (or whatever it has currently morphed into) getting a significant sum of cash to do some sort of social work. All without oversight or any standards.
If there is no accounting to BP, and BP has no control, who will force the money to go to those who are damaged?

How to start a revolution.
While there are many who think that we are being boiled slowly (see the parable about the frog if you are unsure what I am talking about) THIS is a sure way to turn up the heat fast enough to get the attention of those who have so far been complacent enough to allow the rest of the socialization plans happen (GM, Dodge, Tarp, The "Bailout", and, or course, the Health Care Plan..
Screw with my retirement account/IRA?Bad Idea..... Social Security is a failure, and so far, is paying LESS than 3% on moniestaken at gunpoint by the government contributed to the accounts by the workers.
You wanna start a revolution? Turn up the hat so that the frog notices? This is one of the best ways that I can think of. And it worked so well in Argentina, to. That once vibrant economy is in the shitter now, all thanks to policies which the DNC and their president, Mr. Unicorn, he of HopenChange wish to follow exactly.
Methinks that I would be better to take the penalty, withdraw my IRA's, and invest them as other types of accounts and pay the tax penalty. As the federal government has failed to do anything well in my lifetime, I do not trust them at all to handle my retirement account , much less provide me with a decent return. And, of course, there is the question.of what happens to the monies when/if I die? Who gets the cash then?
While this rumor has been around for 2+ years, it won't die, and is gaining traction. And with socialists in the government, and in a majority in congress who must be aware of the fact that their majority will end in November 2010,...What have they to lose by pushing this agenda as well? Anything to further the socialist cause.
Methinks that this will finally blow the top off the socialist agenda and cause people to wake up enough t say "Stop". I only hope that is is not too late to engage the brakes...

Storm
Seems that the wind blew down one of my neighbors trees. Which is not a big deal, except that my barn cushioned the fall of said tree.
Hard to tell how much damage, but the roof now leaks and I can see broken wood.
At least no one was hurt. (Except the insurance companies).

A win for free speech
and a loss to the Democrats who would squelch opposing viewpoints.
Sometimes I think Nancy Pelosi should be shot for her blatant violation of her oath.
Other times, just beaten severely.
At least SOME of our legislators seem to have some sense, and some integrity.

I ordered a laser from WickedLasers.com.
1 watt of blue laser. Enough to burn skin and all sorts of other mayhem, or so the warning page told me. I must remember not to look at the beam, nor shine it at anyone who I might ever want to see me again. Apparenlty, I can set the gulf oil slick on fire from Indiana, and all sorts of neat things like that.
I fully expect these to be illegal soon.
This is gonna be so cool! Product review a soon as it arrives. 4-6 weeks. Unless the Gubmint decides I don't pass the NICS check or something.

First they came for the oil companies, and I said nothing,,,,
And eventually, the dairy farmers.....
See, it's not about clean air or water, it's about control.
I would wager that there are other things which have a significantly greater impact on our water than the occasional large amount of spilled milk. Will the good enforcers from the EPA begin with the stormwater runoff from parking lots (which contains a significant amount of crankcase oil from cars that leak? Cities and towns flow large amounts of oil from roads and parking lots through their storm drains each and every time it rains. This all ends up in a river, stream, or lake. How about the salt in northern climates? Tons of salt wash into the storm drains, and eventually into the rivers and streams.
It is easier to go after farmers, small ones, than it is to go after big cities and such.
But the reach of the EPA is becoming too great for their grasp. The backlash will be significant. The EPA is full of folks who thing that mankind is the major pollutant. And at some point, they must be reigned in. Perhaps that time is now?

Invasion
I wasn't going to post anything today (on the theory that it is best to be silent, and thought of as a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt), but then I came across this:
Linoge has a good point. Click the link, follow his links.
In effect, the US has lost control over a portion of its territory. ANd the powers that be do not seem to care. Perhaps we citizens should?
I mean, we could carpool or something. Spend a week.....Get some range time....
you know. That sort of thing.

How to lie, institutionally
Seems that NOAA is trying to discredit one of their main critics.
Apparently they don't like him because he is refuting their institutional mindset.
The measuring stations are the reason for the increase in measured temperature, not the actual climate.

Enough of this
While this may be legal, it is not moral. Nor is it right.
I know that the hospitality industry is having a hard time, but this is beyond the pale.
We need to change our laws to stop the "anchor baby" issue.Just because you are born in the US should not make you a citizen automatically. Alternatively, you should have the option when you are 18 to choose your citizenship, but until then you should be treated as a citizen of the country of which your mother is a citizen.
Or something. But the whole anchor baby thing has to stop.
And the motel which offers this service needs to have issues. Angry protesters...interruption of services (any patriotic union garbageman should refuse to pick up their garbage, for instance).

This guy has balls.
The guy with the knife who took it down and gave his name.
I'd like to think that I'd have done the same (except that I might have pissed on the other flag).
If the Asshole who owns the restaurant thinks that the mexican flag belongs in the superior position, perhaps he should return to the country for which it stands. I'll gladly drive him to the border and help him over...With the toe of my boot.
The fact that people like this get away with (sometimes) shit like this under the guise of multiculturalism, or on grounds of free speech, and the fact that people are afraid to do something for fear of the police and courts, is a travesty.
If I made the rules, the business owner would never do such a thing for fear his business might burn down....

You probably know this
But Brigid suffered a loss in her family. I would ask that you send good thoughts her way.
About freakin time
Now if this will just spread. Perhaps we can get the indoctrination education of our children back on track, and begin getting our moneys worth from our educational system. And perhaps begin to educate our children.

Just 'cause
Just because I haven't seen this trumpeted around the internet (and it should be, repeatedly) I thought I'd link to this post.
Read it.... It's worth the time.
Read it.... It's worth the time.
Take the time
Perhaps DONATE a few bucks.
THis is for those who sacrifice a lot, for you and me to be free enough to ignore them if we choose.

Weekend thoughts
You most likely know this already, but just to reiterate:
1. Contrary to the belief of many in this country, nobody owes you anything.
2. You do NOT have the right not to be offended. It ain't in the Constitution, so shut up.
3. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch
4. If something is free, it has no value to you. You will treat it accordingly. Conversely, if you must work hard
for something, it has a great deal of value, and you will cherish it.
5. People are lazy. All of us. Some of us can overcome that failing, some cannot.
