on "McDonald"

Everyone is happy. I am too, in a way. But I am disappointed also:

The Supremes didn't really give us what we wanted, either in overturning the law in Chicago, or in providing clear direction as to what was acceptable vs what is not regarding limits to the 2nd. While I personally think that there should be no limits, clearly there will be some. But with no clear direction or ruling, all that they have done is to open the door for more litigation and more strife They have said that the law in Chicago was too broad, but have not defined what "too broad" really is.  The next set of limitations that will soon be in place in Chicago will, of course, be tried in court. This will take years, likely again with no clear ruling. Without such ruling, there can be no argument against laws in other states like California or Massachusetts or Wisconsin. Without such rulings, we as supporters of the 2nd have effectively been emasculated. There can be little agitation for change, as they have effectively not given us a set of rules to agitate against. Nor can we, in the near future, see any standard for carriage of arms across state lines, nor have we any hope to get a nationwide standard of LTC laws or rules.

So I am disappointed. This ruling for "McDonald", like "Heller" is not really a set of answers to the issues we really need to have defined and resolved.

Perhaps this was the intent of the Court.  Perhaps it was simply cowardice.Perhaps they are merely stalling any real decision.

Either way, a time for rejoicing (yay) and a time to face a disappointment.

We essentially got nothing from the Supreme Court. Except a continuation of turmoil and litigation.

Stupid gap

Read the comments.

A reason for the "wealth or income gap": Smart people keep on doing things that are smart and make them money while stupid people keep on doing things that are stupid and keep them from achieving.
People who get an education, stay off of drugs, apply themselves, and save and wisely invest their earnings do a lot better than people who drop out of school, become substance abusers, and buy fancy cars and houses that they can't afford, only to lose them.
We don't have an income gap. We have a stupid gap. Guess which group voted for Obama

THIS poll, while not very scientific, is nonetheless telling.

And the story ain't so good for Mr. Obama.

Incompetence is what you generally get when you select an academic.....and when said academic has as his crowning achievement a failed community organizing job, which wasted a bunch of tax dollars with no real solution to the problems which they were trying to fix.....

Hope&Change and all that doesn't get you very far in the real world, does it, Barry?

Sweet buttery Jesus, I hate Wal-Mart.

Not that I have anything against the retailer themselves. They sell decent goods (mostly) at low prices. I wish that they had more products that are made in the US, but that doesn't go with the low price thing so much, so there it is...  I generally avoid the place, but I am partial to their cheap tennis shoes, which I consider as disposables for working in the yard and such.

What I hate are the people at Wal-Mart. Not the clerks and stockers, but the customers. Generally they are either self centered (stop to chat in the middle of the aisle, and block anyone behind them while they discuss their teeth or whatever with someone they haven't seen in a week or so) or massively overweight, unable to control either their hips or the cart, and colliding with anyone/anything that isn't actively dodging them. (now you know why Wal-Mart has such wide aisles)...Or they are stupid enough to make a cow look like a rocket scientist.....I am talking inbred sub cattle stupid. And generally slow in their motions as well as their cognitive processes.....3 toed sloth slow.....Turtles in snow slow. And let us not even go into the interesting and varied modes of dress.

I feel like I lost 30 IQ points in there, and at least 10% of my life force.

I'm not sure it is worth it to save $20 on a pair of cheap sneakers.

Food for thought

Read. Think. Choose your side. I know where I stand...Do you?

Are you ready?

Will you stand strong and fight when the time comes? Will you be steadfast? Will you draw your line in the sand and stand by it? Will you guard this republic, and fight to keep it?

Or will you stand and watch as it is swept aside, destroyed, by the tide of socialism and "fairness"?

Sooner or later, you may have the opportunity to make your choice as to your actions. What will your choice be? Stand for something? Or watch as this great republic falls to the insidious creeping socialism which is infecting this country? Be a live coward or a dead hero? I know where my choices may lead me, and am willing ti make that decision.

I'd rather fight the good struggle valiantly and die than let this country fail due to my inaction, and die old in bed regretting my failure to act.

3 cats and a mouse deciding what is for dinner........

That's what the US will look like if we let THIS happen.

Larger/more popular states will decide who the rest of us get for a president.

I'd prefer that my state have a say as to what idiot we have in charge. If this goes through, then 4 states get to decide.....and 2 of them are socialist already.

At least buy me dinner first.....

So I got the word from the insurance company today.

While the tree was the property of my neighbor, and it is considered an "act of God" (wind) which made the tree fall on MY barn, it is MY insurance company which has responsibility for the cleanup and repairs....Not a big deal, except that it is ME who has to come up with the deductible.

$500.00

This is going to seriously impact my ammo/gun budget. I may have to cut back for 2 or three months. Maybe to less than 500 rds/month.....and no new firearms for a few months. Maybe longer.

Usually, I get drinks and dinner before getting screwed. Maybe a movie. Not so here.

Followup

Seems that this post might have been on target.

Check out this communication to AZ governor Jan Brewer regarding the AZ law allowing LEO to check for citizenship. Seems to be a common thread here. "We need comprehensive immigration reform", and we need to do this before we do anything else regarding illegal immigration....

Hope she told him to go piss up a rope.

Don't the socialists realize that the illegals are damaging the country irreparably, and that despite their socialist dreams and ideals, the illegal immigration and subsequent drain on the economy harms the legal citizens of this country?

Are their ideals more important than the welfare and security of the citizens of this country? Apparently, to them, that choice is already made. Anyone who works against the welfare of this country is a traitor, and deserves the maximum punishment. IMO, there is no difference between those who would commit espionage which harms the security of the US and those who would promote continued illegal immigration to this country with the resultant harm that those people do to the Us economy.

Were the choice up to me, anyone who chooses to promote such an agenda should be tried as a traitor and if found guilty, hung. By the neck. Until dead. Eventually, we will run out of socialists Democrats those who would sacrifice the interests of the citizens of the US for their ideals. their ideals.

Perhaps they will do things by FIAT or DECREE instead.

Interesting....

yup. What he said.

Management

I think that the O is getting a bad rap here regarding McChrystal. There is no way he can have this guy work for him after he foolishly spouted off to Rolling Stone, and after publication of his remarks.

While Obama may not be much of a manager, he really had to ask for the resignation. Criticism is one thing, this is another.

One wonders about the quality of judgement of General McCrystal. He basically fired himself once he opened his mouth.

Betcha never expected me to defend Barry, did you?

Mexico has balls.

To think that they can do this in an attempt to keep their illegal, border crossing, citizens in this country. "defending their citizens rights? What rights? They are here ILLEGALLY! They have zero rights.

Would that the Mexicans could be as open to illegal immigrants in their borders. Instead, their laws make it illegal to be in their country unless you have a visa, work permit, or are a citizen.

The courts should throw the Mexican counsel out on their ear.

What else is lost?

See THIS article about a man who resurrected the words of Edison, and other old recorded radio broadcasts...

The issue wasn't the condition of the media, but rather the loss of technology to play back the sounds. Seems that no one has a handy machine....a "pallophotophone" (shaking light sound) with which to playback the audio.

Despite the lack, and the need to "reinvent the wheel" they were successful in recreating the playback machine.

But one wonders what other media is languishing in some vault, or on a shelf, with no playback device...How much other data is lost forever, Ala NASA and the moon landing video and audio...

So does it really matter? Should we care?

Sarah Palins Breasts

are a big topic of discussion lately, size, "perkiness" etc. Did she or did she have work done....

Who cares?

The size or firmness of her breasts is of little importance when compared to the Mr. Obamas apparent lack of testicles.

High-grade Snark

Thanks to MidwestChick, we get this via TheLibertyZone.com

BBC News - Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a
three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they
are entitled to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda have so
far failed to produce an agreement.

The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of
virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death would be cut by
25% this February from 72 to 60. A company spokesman said increases in
recent years in the number of suicide bombings has resulted in a
shortage of virgins in the afterlife.

The suicide bombers' union, the British Organization of Occupational Martyrs (B.O.O.M.) responded with a statement saying the move was unacceptable to its members and called for a strike vote. General Secretary Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of Jihad. We don't ask for much in return, but to be treated like this is like a kick in the teeth". Speaking from his shed in Tipton in the West Midlands, Al Qaeda chief executive Osama bin Laden explained, "I sympathize with our workers' concerns, but Al Qaeda is simply not in a position to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-day Jihad in a competitive marketplace. Thanks to Western depravity, there is now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife. It's a straight choice between reducing expenditures or laying people (I mean laying people off) . I don't like cutting benefits, but I'd hate to have to tell 3,000 of my staff that they won't be able to blow themselves up." Spokespersons for the union in the North East of England, Ireland, Wales, and the entire Australian continent stated that the change would not hurt their membership as there are few virgins in their areas anyway. According to some industry sources, the recent drop in the number of suicide bombings has been attributed to the emergence of Scottish singing star, Susan Boyle. Many Muslim jihadists now know what a virgin looks like and have reconsidered their benefit packages.

Incompetence

THIS is an example of the level of management at our public schools.

If the school officials have no better judgement than this, then the school administration have gone beyond the Peter Principle in their promotion policies.

If the school superintendent cannot use better judgement than was used in this incident, then he/she does not need to be in charge of an elementary school.

Period.

(IMO such a person should be slapped around a bit. Stupid should hurt once in a while...) I am sure that this was a Pacifist, Anti-Gun statement by an activist educator, but still....stupid is stupid.

Load your bayonets

Seriously, if  THIS allegation is true, then we must seriously consider violence against our government.

This is politics over nation, power of ideas over national security....which in my opinion is treason and a violation of the presidential oath.To put the countries security at risk, to continue to allow people who damage our culture and our economy, just for political gain and because they think that their ideas have more merit than other......to risk the welfare and security (physical as well as economic) of us citizens in order to promote a socialist agenda......This is treason and a violation of their oath.

If true, I know of several well placed lampposts.....and I have lots of rope. I still have, somewhere, my merit badge from scouting for knots.......

Storm aftermath

As I posted earlier, my neighbors tree fell onto my barn due to storm winds Friday night....I did not think it was THAT big of a deal on Friday, as everything seemed stable......Saturday morning however, I found that the tree had settled into the barn by 8-10 inches and was settling more. The roof trusses in the barn were leaning and twisting and the walls had begun to bow as the tree settled even harder into the structure of the barn.

As this job seemed to be beyond my comfort/skill level, I called the insurance agency to see what they wanted to do....Let us just way that I was obviously not talking to the "A" team at the call center......They were very unhelpful....I suggested that they might want to get someone to perhaps decide to remove some tree weight from the roof before the barn fell.....They had zero motivation to help, and basically left the choice of contractors to me, as well as the decision to remove the tree from the roof or not." BUT," they said, "YOU MUST DO ALL YOU CAN TO MITIGATE ANY DAMAGE."

Kudos to "A Clean Cut Tree Removal" out of Wanatah, IN for their quick response and excellent work. They were fucking artists at trimming and cutting in just the right spots to remove the tree WITHOUT HITTING THE BARN WALLS. or adding to the damage. While there is still  LOT of work to do, the weight is off the barn, and the roof is tarped.

And, I must say, FBI builds a strong building. The roof, while damaged, did support about 5 tons of tree, and somehow I doubt that that is a part of the design specs.

We will see how  the insurance company handles things on Monday...

Father's day

Today is Fathers Day. The day we recognize and honor those men who are our fathers.

Sadly, many men are sperm donors, but never fathers.
I am lucky. I had a father. Still do, so I am doubly lucky. I am not half the man he is, and sadly, will likely never have the chance to be a father, much less one like him.

My Dad taught me how to be a man, How to stand fast, and do what is right, to be dependable as you can be. To make your word your honor. Because of my father, I can build nearly anything, fix anything that can be fixed. He took the time to do his best to teach me those skills which he felt were useful to a man in the world which he inhabited.

In the main, he was correct in his choices of skills to teach. He taught me to weld, to be a carpenter, a plumber, a veterinarian, a mechanic.....He taught me patience (as much as I can be) and honor, and compassion.  He taught me to never fight unless needed, but then to fight with all the ferocity and violence I could muster. These lessons have served me well through my life. I am a better man today because I had him as a father.

While I am far from a perfect son, seldom exhibiting the traits he wishes for in a firstborn, he still shows me respect and patience and honor. He holds in his disappointment, seldom letting it show that he wishes he had a son with so many other traits.

Thanks, Dad.
There is more I should say, but I don't know how.
 Love ya.
So with BP having zero control or oversight as to how the 20 billion dollars they are putting into the "slush fund" as ordered requested by Mr. Obama.....I have a question:

Who is going to make sure that the cash is spent on those who were damaged by the spill, either materially, or whose livelihoods were destroyed by damage oil does to the gulf, rather than on social programs to help the "little people" in the gulf?

I can see Acorn (or whatever it has currently morphed into) getting a significant sum of cash to do some sort of social work. All without oversight or any standards.

If there is no accounting to BP, and BP has no control, who will force the money to go to those who are damaged?

How to start a revolution.

While there are many who think that we are being boiled slowly (see the parable about the frog if you are unsure what I am talking about) THIS is a sure way to turn up the heat fast enough to get the attention of those who have so far been complacent enough to allow the rest of the socialization plans happen (GM, Dodge, Tarp, The "Bailout", and, or course, the Health Care Plan..

Screw with my retirement account/IRA?Bad Idea..... Social Security is a failure, and so far, is paying LESS than 3% on monies taken at gunpoint by the government contributed to the accounts by the workers.

You wanna start a revolution? Turn up the hat so that the frog notices? This is one of the best ways that I can think of. And it worked so well in Argentina, to. That once vibrant economy is in the shitter now, all thanks to policies which the DNC and their president, Mr. Unicorn, he of HopenChange  wish to follow exactly.

Methinks that I would be better to take the penalty, withdraw my IRA's, and invest them as other types of accounts and pay the tax penalty. As the federal government has failed to do anything well in my lifetime, I do not trust them at all to handle my retirement account , much less provide me with a decent return. And, of course, there is the question.of what happens to the monies when/if I die? Who gets the cash then?

While this rumor has been around for 2+ years, it won't die, and is gaining traction. And with socialists in the government, and in a majority in congress who must be aware of the fact that their majority will end in November 2010,...What have they to lose by pushing this agenda as well? Anything to further the socialist cause.

Methinks that this will finally blow the top off the socialist agenda and cause people to wake up enough t say "Stop". I only hope that is is not too late to engage the brakes...

Storm

Seems that the wind blew down one of my neighbors trees. Which is not a big deal, except that my barn cushioned the fall of said tree.

Hard to tell how much damage, but the roof now leaks and I can see broken wood.

At least no one was hurt. (Except the insurance companies).

A win for free speech

and a loss to the Democrats who would squelch opposing viewpoints.

Sometimes I think Nancy Pelosi should be shot for her blatant violation of her oath.

Other times, just beaten severely.

At least SOME of our legislators seem to have some sense, and some integrity.

acquisitions

I ordered a laser from WickedLasers.com.

1 watt of blue laser. Enough to burn skin and all sorts of other mayhem, or so the warning page told me. I must remember not to look at the beam, nor shine it at anyone who I might ever want to see me again. Apparenlty, I can set the gulf oil slick on fire from Indiana, and all sorts of neat things like that.

I fully expect these to be illegal soon.

This is gonna be so cool! Product review a soon as it arrives. 4-6 weeks. Unless the Gubmint decides I don't pass the NICS check or something.

First they came for the oil companies, and I said nothing,,,,

And eventually, the dairy farmers.....

See, it's not about clean air or water, it's about control

I would wager that there are other things which have a significantly greater impact on our water than the occasional large amount of spilled milk. Will the good enforcers from the EPA begin with the stormwater runoff from parking lots (which contains a significant amount of crankcase oil from cars that leak? Cities and towns flow large amounts of oil from roads and parking lots through their storm drains each and every time it rains. This all ends up in a river, stream, or lake. How about the salt in northern climates? Tons of salt wash into the storm drains, and eventually into the rivers and streams.

It is easier to go after farmers, small ones, than it is to go after big cities and such.
But the reach of the EPA is becoming too great for their grasp. The backlash will be significant. The EPA is full of folks who thing that mankind is the major pollutant. And at some point, they must be reigned in. Perhaps that time is now?

Pass the message

AD would have you think about something.

Enough of this

While this may be legal, it is not moral. Nor is it right.

I know that the hospitality industry is having a hard time, but this is beyond the pale.

We need to change our laws to stop the "anchor baby" issue.Just because you are born in the US should not make you a citizen automatically. Alternatively, you should have the option when you are 18 to choose your citizenship, but until then you should be treated as a citizen of the country of which your mother is a citizen.

Or something. But the whole anchor baby thing has to stop.

And the motel which offers this service needs to have issues. Angry protesters...interruption of services (any patriotic union garbageman should refuse to pick up their garbage, for instance).

Its all oil

Nearly everything is petrochemicals.

This guy has balls.

The guy with the knife who took it down and gave his name.

I'd like to think that I'd have done the same (except that I might have pissed on the other flag).

If the Asshole who owns the restaurant thinks that the mexican flag belongs in the superior position, perhaps he should return to the country for which it stands. I'll gladly drive him to the border and help him over...With the toe of my boot.

The fact that people like this get away with (sometimes) shit like this under the guise of multiculturalism, or on grounds of free speech, and the fact that people are afraid to do something for fear of the police and courts, is a travesty.

If I made the rules, the business owner would never do such a thing for fear his business might burn down....

You probably know this

But Brigid suffered a loss in her family. I would ask that you send good thoughts her way.

Now if this will just spread. Perhaps we can get the indoctrination education of our children back on track, and begin getting our moneys worth from our educational system. And perhaps begin to educate our children.

Weekend thoughts

You most likely know this already, but just to reiterate:

1. Contrary to the belief of many in this country, nobody owes you anything.

2. You do NOT have the right not to be offended. It ain't in the Constitution, so shut up.

3. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch

4. If something is free, it has no value to you. You will treat it accordingly. Conversely, if you must work hard
for something, it has a great deal of value, and you will cherish it.

5. People are lazy. All of us. Some of us can overcome that failing, some cannot.

QOTD

"Massive amounts of high explosives, like little girls and butterflies, need no excuse. ;)"

Gotta love folks like that.

Inaction at its finest.

We also learned yesterday that another maritime law, also from 1920, is a stumbling block to the clean-up efforts. Over a dozen nations have offered assistance, as they have equipment and experience in cleaning oil spills. However, the Jones Act prohibits foreign operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Known as Section 27 of the Maritime Act of 1920, the Jones Act deals with ‘cabotage’, or coastal shipping. The act is meant to protect the U.S. maritime industry such that only U.S. flagged vessels, crewed by at least 75% U.S. citizens, conducting commercial operations in U.S. waters. In 2005, the Bush administration waived the Jones Act in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

To date, no waiver has been requested, nor does the O apparently wish to have one.

Miles and miles of oil boom are waiting for the Obama Administration to approve for use in the gulf. So far, no action. In fact, they (despite being contacted by the manufacturer) had no idea that there was any boom available. Asleep at the wheel? Again?

Perhaps they can spin this in order to lay the blame on President Bush.

Look: The oil rig explosion and the resulting oil gusher are not the fault of President Unicorn. While his policies may have facilitated (or not prevented) it, the fact that it happened is not the fault of the administration. But the response is. Again, the press (and the Democrats, but that is redundant) blamed Bush because everyone didn't get a new house 90 days after Katrina. While no bureaucracy ever works perfectly, there is a point at which someone has to deal with things, cut thorough the red tape and bullshit and just get things done.

And ya don't get that with a bunch of community activists aided by a bunch of academics.

This country is in the best of hands. Seriously. Just ask 'em.

It's not my fault!

It's still all Bush's fault.

While there is a lot of policy carryover from one administration to another, and decisions made in one administration can take years for the effects to be felt and even more years to fix, this is bullshit. No one on the left took the time to blame Clinton or Carter for many of the issues which Reagan or the Bushs had to deal with after their predecessors left office.

It has been a year. No matter how you slice it, the issues are now the property of the O. Period. While we might have cut him some slack in the first 6 months, that time has passed....long ago. The issues are as much his as 9-11 was the property of GWB a few short months after his inauguration.

Will he of unicorns and rainbows still be blaming Bush in 2012? When is the cutoff date for blaming your predecessor? I'd like to know so I can know when to stop blaming you, Mr. Obama , for the mess you have made of this countries economy, and for all of your social(ist) programs.

Such leadership the Democrats are showing. Such driving, intelligent management they demonstrate.

I want one

YOU TOO can own a lightsaber. Betcha I could do aLOT of damage with one. Say, pulsing it at oh....120 Cy/Sec, at a 50% duty cycle?

Might could be that the batteries would be heavy, but WOW. Catch people on fire? I need one. And at only $200 it is a steal.

AGW research is poor. (DUH)

Via Borepatch, we get this 79 page document which basically shows that all the "science" in AGW research is poorly done, or usually doo-doo.

Read it. it's boring , but informing.

It depends on your outlook.

"We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things."

Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller

"Thanks, but we got this"

So was the message by the Obama administration regarding cleanup help for the oil issues in the Gulf of Mexico.

"We don't need no help from you cheeseheads!"

Besides, the Jones act prevents it. And Mr. Obama isn't willing to waive the rules for an unprecedented situation.

So how many miles of beaches have been damaged, how many acres of marsh have been contaminated?

Look: I blame BP for the issue. But the FedGov should remove bureaucratic roadblocks and help with the mitigation of the damage.

And that they haven't done.

Are you a hypocrite?

So are you an energy pig?

Or are you a hypocrite? ( like Al the Gore and his ilk)

"cause if you decry the drilling which has led to this "disaster" in the gulf, yet you use petroleum in any way (gas to heat your home, gasoline to run your car/transportation, eat anything which requires energy to transport or fertilizer, Was your food grown locally? was it harvested by farmers using  horses? Was it delivered by a man on a horse? Or was it delivered using a truck?  How about your clothes? Were they made locally or did they arrive by truck.?....).Well, read THIS.... Me, I am part of the problem. Unashamedly. While my carbon footprint is about 1/3 of most city dwellers, and 1/4 that of the average suburban dweller (seriously), I am still part of the problem. I like the easy life that oil/petroleum brings.

So rather than bitch about the "Evil Big Oil Companies",  stop or reduce your use of energy, and consumption of petroleum products (this includes plastics and such....). Or accept that your bitching makes you a hypocrite.

As I said, me? I am part of the problem.

A good Sunday afternoon

lunch with friends.

Thanks Brigid. (and yes, the food tastes as good as it looks!) Venison pasta with BREAD baked with Rosemary.....DAMN, it was good.

Good to talk to you OG.

(god, I love name dropping!)

and met, for the first time, Rich.

Good food, good treats, and, of course, great conversation.
Who could ask for a better way to spend a Sunday?

I am better for the experience.

66 years

66 years ago today, Allied soldiers began storming the beaches at Normandy, in the quest to oust Germany from France.

Betcha few Frenchmen born after that day care very much. I doubt that many who are adults today care that nearly 10,000 soldiers were killed or wounded in order to make sure that the French didn't grow up speaking German.

Remember those who were lost.

Free speech

The right to free speech does not, as it happens, include any guarantee of an appreciative audience. Heh.

I have seen this guy at the gun show as well and wondered the same thing. It puts a lie to the statement that we gun folks are racists. This guy induces .000001% of the attendees to come any closer to his table than is necessary to pass by to other tables, yet he is there each and every show.....One wonders why?

It is his right to believe what he wishes, but it is also the right of each attendee to ignore him as much as possible. And, of course, we do.

So I had to go to a bigger Post Office today...Normally, I go to a post office in a small town, where they are polite and courteous and efficient.

Not so in this larger post office. There were three people at the windows. A line 15 people long, which grew quite a bit while I was in it. All due to the lack of efficiency of the 3 postal workers.

I'll list them as the dwarf, the gimp and the corpse.

I had a great deal of time to observe these three as I spent 20 minutes in line.

The gimp was just that, a polite man who was frail, appeared to be of indeterminate gender (although the slight beard indicated a likely male). He was soft spoken and, as I said, polite. He did not have a sense of urgency. If I had to guess, I would say that he was recently recovered from a serious car accident. Sadly, he was the most efficient of the three, moving at nearly half speed as compared to a person employed in a non government job.

The dwarf was just that, a dwarf. With terribly arthritic fingers. So terribly arthritic that she was unable to input information correctly despite trying multiple times. God only knows how many pieces of mail are now labeled incorrectly and will spend the next week wandering about the country in a vain search for their destinations. I am fairly certain that she was standing on a box behind the counter. Apparently, the concept of dong more than one thing at a time was beyond her comprehension. Generally, it took 2 trips to get anything done.

Lastly, we had the corpse. Wavering somewhere between unconscious and dead, she was barely able to find the stamps or to take packages. Her speed was something slightly faster than a corpse, but not quite to the level of a coma patient. It was apparent that she was aware that her retirement date was (at that time) 9 years, 4 months, 2 weeks, 4 days, 1 hour and 16 minutes away, and she was unwilling to work any harder than she had to before that time came.

These folks were like caricatures of government workers come to life.

God help us if the Obamacare system hires folks like this. People will die waiting in line. Babies may well be conceived, gestated and delivered while their parents are waiting for health care decisions.

Why do government service jobs collect such inefficient misfits?

Decline of the nation and of our culture.

Tam does a compare and contrast,

and Borepatch has commentary on where we are going.

I think both are encouraging. While things may not be great for a while, the facade is crumbling and things will get better eventually.

I'm sure it's a photoshop:

But it is still funny.

If it were real, It would have been in spanish.
Supposedly a billboard in AZ.
Perhaps the governor put it up?

In other words "you get nothing"

Seems the meeting between Mr. O and Jan Brewer, Gov of AZ. went "cordially". But there was no meeting of minds, and no promises of any additional action by the feds to help the illegal immigration issues experienced by Arizona.

All Ms. Brewer got was "The governor said she is encouraged there will be "much better dialog between the federal government and the state of Arizona" on border security and immigration reform."

In other words, Obama told her to go pound sand.  Apparently she replied in a similar manner.
So now the Big O will help to get a lawsuit against the law started...and lets the citizens of AZ continue to suffer.

So much for defending the citizens of this country which he was chosen to lead. He'd rather pander to a bunch of folks who might, someday, be bothered to vote (and if he has his way, they will be able to...and likely for any candidate with a "D" after his name)

So the leftists and the media (sorry for the redundancy) are screaming about the violence done by the blockade runners against the Israelis. Actually, in their view, I have it wrong....

Lets see: The Jewish type folks stated that they would turn back the convoy of "aid". They offered an alternative point of debarkation (and, of course, a search for non-humanitarian aid) and were refused. The Israelis did what they said that they would do,

When the "aid" flotilla was stopped for a search, violence broke out. Men with guns (professional soldiers) reacted. To save their lives.

And these "blockade runners" have the temerity to whine about the results?

Fuck'em. Those who died or were injured deserved what they got. While the Israelis may be foolish about some things, they are serious about their security. Like Rachel Carson Corrie, they learned the lesson the hard way.

And if the convoy was composed entirely of humanitarian supplies, they'd have gone the way the Israelis suggested and offered.

Now if the press would give up trying to sway things against the EVIL JOOZ, things would get back to normal sooner and we'd all be happier.

ETA: Seems that some of the MSM is finding a clue

ETA2: Via LawDog we find an example of seriously large brass balls alongside an example of tolerance by the other protesters.

Yep. No shit Sherlock.

DUH. Pricing is going through the roof in Canada's Health Care system.

Of course, Preisdent Unicorn will keep that from happening......Right?

Sure he will.

Or not.

Someone tell me that they could not have known this before the big debate over Health Care here in the US.

And when you do I'll call you a liar.

Socialized Medicine was just a wedge to help socialism to gain a foothold in the US, (along with the unions, but that is for another time....) plain and simple.
