The original Mayor Daley delivered the city of Chicago's vote for Kennedy before I was born, and, while everyone knew what was happening, no one could prove it, and there was at least an attempt to cover things up. It wasn't obvious unless you knew where to look.
But this is blatant, out in the open, and "in your face". It would appear that those responsible are convinced that Mr Holder and the people at the Department of "Justice" are taking orders from the White House and that there will be little more than a sham investigation and never any attempt at charges or a conviction.
Stealing is one thing......Doing it blatantly is another.

Blogmeet and gunshow AAR
We met the great and mighty OG and Partner at 6:45 am Saturday to carpool down to the Indy area for the 1500 and the subsequent Blogmeet.
The Indy gunshow was not as crowded as in previous years. While there was no lack of attendees, you could at least walk down the aisles and see both sides for the most part.
Few deals were to be had, pricing for new firearms was at or near gunshop levels.....I am not sure if the gunshops have come down or if the dealers were not discounting as much. Either way, few great deals to be had. Midwest Chick spent a bit of cash for her new Sig 238. A bit of haggling got her a few bucks off of the price; and, while a good deal, it was not outstanding. But, as she had been lusting for one for months, she bought it.A few holsters from Stoner Holster, (one we had to order, but we trust 'em, they are good folks and make good products) (FTC be damned) and we were done buying for the day.
Ammo was down to just 25% over what it should have been, and nearly all "mainstream" calibers were available in quantity. Chances are, if you had cash, you could go home with as much ammo for whatever firearm in whatever caliber as you could carry.
The trip down was, well...., a trip. Operating on just 2.5 hours of sleep (we had been at a party later than we had planned, so oh dark thirty came earlier than we had expected) and therefore massive overdoses of caffiene and sugar, we met Og and Partner and climbed into the Prius for the trip down. I halfway expected either Og or the Prius (or maybe both) to either self destruct in some weird fashion, or one or the other to suffer some strange malfunction.....But they apparently can coexist in close proximity. The trip was, as all time spent with those two, interesting and thought provoking. The conversation went from the interesting and educational to the extreme and bizarre. I highly recommend that if you ever spend a significant amount of time with Midwest Chick, Og and Partner, you bring large quantities of brain-bleach.....and/or a set of knitting needles for a do-it-yourself lobotomy......There are some things you just can't unhear or un-visualize. Having said that, I would not have missed the trip and their company for anything you might offer.
After we arrived at the gunshow, we went our separate ways. They like the collectibles, and we like the new ones and the knives and survival supplies. As we had been vendors at such shows in the past, Midwest Chick and I saw many acquaintances and renewed a few friendships which we had not kept up on.
Meeting up with the other two, we navigated to Claddaghs on the northeast side for a meal and some libations on their patio before the others arrived for the Blogmeet.
If you ever have the chance to attend a Blogmeet in the Indy area, I highly recommend that you take the time to do so. The wit and snark flow fast and furiously, and the conversation can be educational as well asdisturbing fun and interesting.
In attendance were (in no particular order) Brigid (who was greeted by the mighty Ogs incredibly white buttocks (he mooned her as she pulled up)) . I was worried about that, as reports were that she was feeling poorly, but she was able to hold herself together even in the face of such a sight. (I was sitting next to him, and the flash ofugly bright white nearly blinded me when he greeted her.) As I said, some things you just can't ever unsee. (where did I put those knitting needles?)
Tam and Shootin' Buddy showed, as did Joanna and The Lovely Ms X....then Old Grouch. He, of course, had a bit of new technology to show off, Joanna and I traded opinions on cooking, the therapeutic uses of Bacon (I am of the opinion that, with few exceptions (like angel food cake) Bacon will improve nearly any food), and other topics, all the while trying to keep up with the flow of conversation between Tam, Shooting Buddy, OG, Roberta and Midwest Chick. Tam did autograph her article in my copy of Concealed Carry magazine (I'll never wash that magazine again!). There was a discussion which began about old underwear, which led to another visual that made me wince, and wish for more brain-bleach. Somewhere in there, Midwest Chick decided to do an impromptu dance with the wind and a glass of beer. It appears that she threw herself in front of the beer that spilled in order to keep it from bruising itself as it fell to the floor. We were able to dry her out before the trip home. She blamesBrigid for not finishing her beer quickly enough the waitress for not securing the glass properly on the table.....
There was so much more, but most of it is a blur, as it happened so fast (you gotta be quick with these folks!) or was so bizarre thatmy therapist says that I must put it all behind me I cannot describe it well . Just show up next time there is a blogmeet. The comradeship, the laughter, the snark and the wit are worth the trip.

Bad customer service
I just cancelled my order via Wicked Lasers for the high powered handheld laser that I posted about back in June. It was supposed to ship within 4-6 weeks..... Not so much......
They have promised that it will be shipped "within a week" 4 times, have refused to give me a tracking number, have lied about when it would ship each time, have complained that my CC wouldn't accept the charges (yet the CC people say that there is no attempt to charge my card), and have generally dicked me around. What a shitty way to do business.
While I was looking forward to playing with a high powered, handheld laser, this is enough. I don't need one bad enough to put up with this shit.
Be careful if/when you order from them.

Pass THIS legislation....... Seize private 401(k) accounts to give a "Guaranteed Retirement Account" to each and every citizen of the US...(wasn't that what Social Security was all about?)
I wonder about the veracity of the source, and yet THIS exists too...And while it does not advocate the seizure of the 401(k) money, it does suggest that there is a plan afoot to provide a "guaranteed retirement" overseen by a "Federal Retirement Security Board"....
And, just to make sure the tinfoil hat fits just right, let us not forget that many union retirement plans are massively underfunded and will likely bankrupt the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation....requiring a bailout by the feds (and therefore you and I) yet again.....Obama and the democrats like Pelosi and Frank are no doubt is under pressure from their union contributors....
When is enough, enough?

OMG! The end of the world
(again)....
Or something like that.
Seems that the CERN folks are gonna disrupt the world yet again...
Mad scientists will produce "negative strangelets" (WTF is a strangelet???and why are they negative?) that will somehow cause the end of the world (maybe?).
Or not. Whatever. Just thought you'd like to know so you can prepare.....have enough of your favorite beverage on hand to watch the fireworks if/when....Kiss your loved one(s) (and/or your ass) goodbye.....or whatever other preparations you may need to make.
Or, we could all get together and throw another "End of the world (and we really mean it this time!)so you'd better be there!" party.

Only cops should have firearms.
They have the training, and the skills to use them. Cops are all our friends? Right? To "protect and to serve" and all that.....
And, of course, they are psychologically tested and all.
Right?
Sure. We can trust 'em.
The fact is that they are just people, like you and I. Some are good, some are bad, most are in between.
I would like to extend my appreciation to the officers in Lake County In, and in Will County, IL for their fine work in the incident. They had very few leads to go on, a half assed description of the perpetrator and the vehicle he used, and they made the most of them. Ballistics as well as good, old fashioned police work led to the quick apprehension of this whack job.

I too had several mentors who taught me to question. My father, and a teacher.
Dad: it was you who taught me to question things, not to merely accept what I was taught. It made life hard for me in school, but it made me a bit more intelligent, and I learned more that way.
My teacher, Jerry Boehner, reinforced that teaching from my Dad. Jerry: all I can say is "Thank you". You too taught me to question, to learn, and above all to THINK. Would that all teachers were like you. Sadly, that is not the case. The system drives out those exceptional individuals, preferring those who would perpetuate the system of mediocrity.
The sad part is that this carries into our colleges and universities. The educational system is broken. Even some of it'svictims best graduates can see it. Now if only the leaders in academia could open their eyes.

So on Tuesday, this whack job with a gun tries to off two guys at a construction site, then wanders over a state border and shoots some farmer in a rural area.....
While a tragedy, and I hope they catch the guy (unlikely, as there are few leads and a poor description of the perp and his vehicle) the reaction of the residents in the rural area towns was laughable...
A significant percentage of the people in the NW Indiana towns near the incident began openly carrying (or at least not well concealed) pistols...Of course, this was the next day...(Wednesday)...The dude had not been seen since something like 11:00 am on Tuesday, had apparently departed the area last seen heading north, and had not been seen nor heard from since. It was also amazing to see how many pickup trucks suddenly grew rifles in the racks behind the seat.
While I encourage the (legal) carriage of firearms, it was kind of amusing to see the number of people whose hips suddenly sprouted pistols in the face of a pecieved threat.... The sad fact is that by the end of the week, unless there is another reason for them to continue to carry, they will all fall back into "condition white" and return the firearms to the safe/desk drawer/nightstand from whence they came.
How many of those folks have practiced in the past 6 months? Will they take the time to toss a few rounds downrange just to keep current now that the need for a firearm for defense has been demonstrated to them?
(The best part was the comments made by one guy at the hardware store to me......."You should be carrying a gun...you never know when he'll be back!"....Little did he know that I was....(it's called CONCEALED carry for a reason)...and I always am carrying.. I am seldom in "condition white" and I am NEVER without a firearm unless I am travelling to a state where such is illegal. It is for just this eventuality that I carry even while doing work in the yard....and I NEVER trust people who come up to me.
If there is a need to carry today, then there is also a need to carry tomorrow (and probably yesterday). You can't be a sheepdog some of the time.

How soon?
Until this happens here in the US?
One way another, despite the current governments hopes and dreams, the US will have to cut things in order to pay its bills. When that happens, how soon until the protests begin....the anarchy, the destruction of businesses and government offices....The rioting and strikes and violence? The Spaniards saw it coming, and negotiated a peaceful, orderly strike...The Spaniards are, for the most part, a civil, orderly people....Not so much for Greece. And we shall see what happens when the French begin their cuts.
While there are a lot of fingers pointing in many directions as to who is to blame for all of the mess that the financial markets and European governments have gotten themselves into, ultimately it really doesn't matter whose fault it is.....The fact is that the wheels are coming off the socialist states bus. And those folks who depend on that socialist state to eat will get angry....and angry people riot and do violence. "Bread and circuses) are not enough...
So what happens when things here become like things in Europe? We are on that path.....it is merely a matter of time until we are in the same situation. We are merely a "less socialist" state than they. But a too high percentage of our population is dependant upon that same state to feed, house and clothe them. Add in the high percentage of retired (or soon to retire) local, state and federal workers ( and maybe the military retired folks?) who are about to find out that there is no money in their retirement accounts and things might well get.....interesting.
I am not sure how we prepare for such an eventuality.

Religion of Peace

When I was but a boy, my parents used the phrase "actions speak louder than words".
Follow the link, you decide. Peaceful? Or something other than peaceful. I have always held the belief that there are many Muslims with whom I could peacefully coexist.....But I see no condemnation of the fatwa by any Muslim groups. In fact, I waited a week before posting about this to see if any condemnation was forthcoming. I have seen none.
I followed her lead, as did many others. I posted a lighthearted cartoon about Mohammed on this blog. Instead of going after a woman, I urge those who would threaten the cartoonist to come see me and express their displeasure. I betcha that I pay the ferrymans fee before I check out. And I bet your jihad warriors find out if the 72 virgins are real.
Wanna express your displeasure boys? Start here...Start with me instead of a woman. Be a warrior. Attack a target that fights back. It's easy to threaten a woman or a child..... not so much when it is someone who will give you a run for your money.
Let us go find out about those virgins.

Perhaps I should keep my mouth shut next time....
So I was at my local downtown coffeehouse Friday evening, to get my weekly dose of caffeine and liberal propaganda thought, and I see that they have a pumpkin painted pink on the counter......"that's odd...." I say to myself....
So I ask the proprietor why they have a pumpkin, carefully painted pink, on display.
"It's our support for Breast Cancer something or other", she replies...
"Should have used melons", I replied, without conscious thought.
The guy at the table nearby nearly passed his cup of coffee through his left nostril.
I may not be able to return there...
And that is sad, because I have finally trained the staff how I like my coffee.

so I have an idea.....
Since the LEO in Vegas seem to (by all reports) overreact to any report of "a man with a gun"....
If I lived in Vegas (thank god I don't) every time I saw an officer, uniformed or not, I think that I would call it in....Being a good citizen and all.
"Hello, 911 operator? Yeah, I am at the corner of 9th and Sycamore and there is this guy acting kinda....well, different....He's kinda tense...and he's watching everybody closely and acting kinda suspicious.....He seems to be looking at everyone in a kinda calculating manner......like he is evaluating every person he sees. He's kinda intimidating though..... ...yeah, and he's wearing some kind of uniform.....he has a gun! OMG he has a gun!.......No, he's not threatening anyone....yet.....But I thought you might like to know and maybe have someone check him out......I mean, it could be nothing....but you never know."
Imagine the chaos, and the lesson that the LVPD might learn from this.....Let us hope they don't shoot any of their fellow officers....

So will the Obama administration lose in court?
Seems that tomorrow is the beginning of the federal case between Delphi non union workers and the feds.
Seems that the UAW folks got the golden parachute via TARP funds, but the non-union folks got the shaft. And they want fair treatment. Who can blame them?
While the issue of underfunded pension plans is one of great magnitude, and will become greater in the next few years, the fact is that the TARP funds used in the Bailout of GM were used to pay for the UAW folks pension benefits....no doubt as a payoff for all their help in getting Mr. O elected. I personally think that the bailout should not have happened, and all pensions should have been treated as the non union Delphi workers pensions were....Part of a bankruptcy. But if the union folks get the bennies of the government bailouts, so should the rest of the workers.
And I hope they win their case.

For gods sake, BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. Not all police are as stupid as these officers appear to have been, but some are. And no matter what, if they are that stupid, you'll be dead, and after the paperwork is forged finished, they'll likely congratulate him/her and your family friends will be grieving your loss (and your enemies will be dancing in the streets).
And no, no, no.... this is not an indictment of all police officers. I personally know cops who are on both ends of the spectrum.....there are Heroes and Scumbags in all departments.

redefining poor.....
How poor are today's "poor" in the USA? ?
Lets see:
"Overall, the typical American defined as poor by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave. He has two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo. He is able to obtain medical care. His home is in good repair and is not overcrowded. By his own report, his family is not hungry and he had sufficient funds in the past year to meet his family's essential needs. While this individual's life is not opulent, it is equally far from the popular images of dire poverty conveyed by the press, liberal activists, and politicians."
and:
"As a group, America's poor are far from being chronically undernourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children and, in most cases, is well above recommended norms. Poor children actually consume more meat than do higher-income children and have average protein intakes 100 percent above recommended levels. Most poor children today are, in fact, supernourished and grow up to be, on average, one inch taller and 10 pounds heavier than the GIs who stormed the beaches of Normandy in World War II."

I have seen poor people. I have yet to see such abject poverty here in the US. While life for many at the bottom of the economic ladder may not be as easy as they would like it to be, for most "poor", their lives are materially better than their ancestors were in 1940.
And let us not forget that most "poverty" in the US is the result of continued bad decision making ( 'cause there are few negative consequences to the individual for those bad decisions) and often just plain laziness. Not in all cases, but in most.
And the continued redefinition of "poor" will not change that fact.

Constitution day
Today is the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States. The one document which makes this country stand out from all others. The rules by which we are supposed to run this country......The rules which make the country a beacon and destination of home and freedom for nearly all other peoples on the world.
What would the original signers who wrought this document think today of what we and our ancestors have made with it, and how we are ignoring it? How might they comment upon the country which exists today and the network of laws which violate the rules laid down in that document 223 years ago today?
I think that they'd be checking their powder and knapping the flints on their muskets, preparing for another revolution. They'd be buying rope in 10 yard lengths and looking for sturdy trees.

Then think about the country as it exists today compared to what was envisioned 223 years ago, by those men who fixed their signature to a document,and in doing so, laid the framework for the greatest, most free country in the world, and created the Land Of Opportunity for those willing to come here.

Why you need to have a firearm ready
and be prepared to use it. Plus, LOCK YOUR DOORS!
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.....then they have to set up a perimeter and mill around deciding what to do........
Would the linked incident have ended differently had the homeowners had a firearm? Who knows? But since we cannot rely on the police to do more than take pictures of the bodies and file a report afterwards, prudence would require that you have the means to defend yourself (and especially the training to use it!). Having one might have made a difference in this case. Might not have too. We'll never know.
But the fact remains that the police, despite having many opportunities to do something to change the outcome, chose not to. And their inaction led to at least 2 deaths, possibly three. I respect my local police. I wouldn't want their jobs. It is a hard one, and it often requires judgement calls which, if made wrongly, could lead to them being disciplined or dismissed. But in this case, they failed. Failed utterly to live up to the trust which the citizens had placed upon them. Failed to do their job. Failed to save the lives of the citizens they were sworn to protect. And that is a tragedy for all involved.
People think that I am crazy because I am armed nearly all the time, even when working in my yard. Sometimes I do too. Then incidents like this happen, and I remember why I carry, even in my own yard (and I am seldom far a way from a firearm in my home). I live in a nice "safe" neighborhood. Things like the above "just don't happen here". Except when they do.

You are the first line of defense for your (and your family's) safety. There ARE wolves out there. Be a sheepdog.

Figure it out yet? We don't want "DNC lite", or "Less Liberal". We want C.O.N.S.E.R.V.A.T.I.V.E..
Not "hold your nose and vote for our candidate even if you dislike him/her, but its OK because he/she has the "R" label, so you should vote for them anyway...."
Your failure to support true conservative candidates is making you irrelevant in today's elections. And the fact that you fail to pass the money back out to the voters choice to continue their campaign is making you even more irrelevant. Keep it up, and you will soon go the way of the Triceratops and the Dodo. "Daddy, what is a Republican?"....."they died out in the early part of the 21st century son.....No one fed them. No campaign donations or votes came their way so they simply disappeared....starved to death. Replaced by the Tea Party......and Libertarians."
Support true conservatives, and you'll win more often than you'll lose, folks. And even if that winner isn't your first choice, their philosophy and the way they'll vote will be a LOT more to your liking than the liberal candidates will be.

Stimulus money FAIL
So the feds cannot even seem to spend the "Stimulus Money" correctly...
Seems that $823K of it was spent in AFRICA teaching men how to properly wash their genitals.
1. I don't give a rats ass how beneficial to the recipients this might be, this money is NOT in any way a stimulus for the US economy.
B. Who really gives a shit of these folks can't figure out how to wash their pee-pee. I understand that AIDS is still an issue and all that but wtf?
III. Whoever approved this expenditure should be shot, not merely fired or demoted...We waste enough US taxpayer money in Africa as it is, much less "Stimulus Money" that is really borrowed from future wage earners.
Either that, or just admit that the "Stimulus" was just a payoff for special interests and a power grab......You can't have it both ways.
Yeah, they are gonna spend our health care money SO wisely, I am sure......

Remember....And be angry.
I remember the day well. Watching the news reports of the first plane, thinking it was a horrible accident. (I lived my life in "condition yellow" personally, but as far as thinking about attacks on our nation, I was stuck in "condition white". So, I was not thinking terrorism as I turned off the TV and left for work.....10 minutes later, listening to the radio (Mancow in the Morning from Chicago), I realized that the US had been ATTACKED. Who/why, etc didn't matter.
15 long minutes later, I was at work, in front of a TV, watching the entire rest of the day unfold. I told my employees: "The world as we knew it has just changed forever". I was right, but I was also wrong.
I shall never forget the feeling of anger, and hurt, and despair as I saw those towers fall. For the nation it was, really, a pinprick. To a country as large, rich, and prosperous as the US, the loss of those towers (and, sadly, those people) was minuscule...less than a rounding error on any balance sheet. Yet it was, to many of us, a terrible blow. OUR COUNTRY HAD JUST BEEN ATTACKED.
For some of us, the world has indeed changed....forever. For many, however, it has returned to its pre-9-11 state of unconsciousness and unawareness. I am saddened that so many can forget so easily.
Is it because the typical American is as bad as the rest of the world thinks? Shallow and with an attention span only slightly longer than the beginning of the next news cycle? Or is it that they care not to face the fear that the threat brings to their world.....?
For me, there is indeed fear. Fear has never stopped me, but it is there. ...But there is an overriding anger that fades the fear into the background.
Anger that there are those who are so intolerant that they will not leave us in the US alone, that they cannot live their own lives in their own ways and leave our country's citizens to live ours in our way.
Anger that those folks would dare attack the US and its citizens. With no clear military objective except to HURT others in this country....Indiscriminately. Just because they are citizens of arguably the richest and most powerful nation in the world.
Anger that those folks would attack us just because of who we are....simply different than them.
I am also angry that there are those in our country who fail to see the reason we need to stamp out each and every cell of the attackers. Even if it means a scorched earth policy. We began the war in Afghanistan with this intent, but allowed the weak and soft souls in our government and our media to weaken that resolve, and dilute the focus of our intent. Who forced us to stop our pursuit at the Pakistan border, and allow those in that country to lie, to dissemble, to actively aid those who were our enemies because they were of the same culture as our attackers. Anger at those who, by preventing action, aided our enemies. (and make no mistake, "Radical Islam" is indeed the enemy of the US and its citizens, no matter what their culture, religion, or skin color might be). Anger that those people caused the US to fail in its pursuit of the enemies of the citizens of this country, and our way of life.
I am angry for the loss of freedom which these people have forced upon the citizens of our nation. The weakening of our freedoms..... Perhaps this is indeed their goal....I do not know.
And most of all, I am angry at many of my fellow Americans for forgetting. The attacks themselves I may be able to forgive. The failures of our government I can forgive. But I cannot forgive my countrymen who forget, or who simply fail to care. Who fail to remember...who will, if the rest of us let them, allow this to happen again.

15 long minutes later, I was at work, in front of a TV, watching the entire rest of the day unfold. I told my employees: "The world as we knew it has just changed forever". I was right, but I was also wrong.

After a great deal of thought regarding the antipathy to violence which occurred in comments and such over at Roberta's site in the past few days...I have to quote this portion of a great speech. Oddly prescient when viewed from today's perspective. You may feel the same way. Or not. At some point of provocation, these words will become much more relevant to you.....

Free money
There was flooding a few weeks ago in Chicago, Northeastern Illinois (really all of the northern part of the state) and some parts of NW Indiana. Really heavy torrential rains.
Did the federal government show up immediately and help??? Nope
The State government??? Nope.
But now....weeks afterwards. We have this help. Free money. Free food stamps.
WEEKS after the floods. And NO VERIFICATION THAT THE RECIPIENT HAD SUFFERED ANY DAMAGE....All you had to do was show proof that you lived in the ZIP CODE.....
Is there anything the government does well ?

Apparently, I am a radical....
and seemingly, prone to violence. (see comments re: the first link.... and the second section in the 2nd link)
Do you think that there is a point at which an armed uprising is acceptable vis-a-vis the alternatives? Is it ok to take action preemptively?
Is there a point at which you will rise up in revolt? (BTW, don't tell me, I could be a provocateur....But decide for yourself where the line is...best to do so beforehand, so you'll not just be ruled by emotions like anger or fear). But where is your line in the sand? Having to show your papers every time you enter or leave a town....Or whenever a policeman decides he wants to know.....or when taxes get above 60%....or what?
Seriously though, while Roberta and I may disagree, she has a point...Starting the fight may be a tactical mistake. But I think not being willing to start one makes you weaker....

Via INSTY, comes the rerun of the REAL STORY of Katrina.
The truths are manyfold. The fact is that the Liberal DNC backed governmnent failed on nearly every level in New Orleans. The fact is that the National Guard, and the Coast Guard, and the rest of the military backed first responders did a wonderful job. The fact is that the union backed locals failed miserably, at least until shored up by the National Guard. The fact is that the DNC backed mayor had less ability than Democratness (and blackness), and couldn't govern OR LEAD the people who elected him....Same story for the governor, who failed her state miserably.
The fact is that the story as represented by the media was at best poorly and incompetently reported, and at worst a well executed and well planned LIE to the American people for political purposes.
The fact is that the first reponders did a wonderful job, and that FEMA, which is not supposed to be a first responder, was castigated for not being there early enough, and for not doing enough. But the fact is that all of the story of Katrina was a lie.
Let us not forget, the non DNC run states, like Mississippi, recovered faster, even though they had more damage, did a better job of taking care of their citizens, and didn't have a significant percentage of their populations who couldn't take care of themselves or plan more than 4 hours in advance.
As they say, READ THE WHOLE THING.

One percent more of your hard earned paycheck. One percent of your retirement EVERY TIME you move money from one mutual fund to another.....One percent every time you pay a home loan payment, or a credit card payment.....one percent every time you buy a car, or make a car payment.
On top of the rest of the crushing taxes we already pay.....and the more crushing taxes that take place on Jan. 1, 2011 to begin to pay the Obamacare bill forward....
The real way to a "Debt free America" doesn't include increased spending, and increased taxes, but rather the opposite....Unless you area asocialist democrat....

More Glowbal warmening bullshit
AlGore must be crying right now...
Seems that NOAA knew that the data from the satellites.....the data the "proved" global warming, was bogus, and has been for YEARS.
Garbage in, garbage out.
But the crime is that the scientists and administration at NOAA KNEW that the data was bogus: full of errors, and yet they failed to mention that small fact to anyone.
But these folks, in government service.....no doubt will keep their jobs. Were this a private corporation, not only would the corporation be sued (and rightly so) for providing erroneous data (at a cost of MILLIONS of dollars), but everyone who was a part of the data collection would be fired.
How many BILLIONS of dollars have been spent to mitigate the effects of the non existent issue of global warming? How many taxpayer dollars have been spent (actually, wasted) working with this erroneous data?
Were I in charge, those same scientists, technicians, and especially administrators, would be forced to pay back every dollar that was spent for all those years for which erroneous data was provided. Salaries, operating costs, and any other expenses. Somehow, I doubt that this will be the case.
My bet is that few of them will even be forced to resign. I'd like to stand them up against a wall. But then again, I have been told that I lack tolerance....

Seems that the Greek Orthodox Church (Saint Nicks) that was destroyed in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks has yet to begin rebuilding due to red tape.....Apparently, not so with the Mosque of Dominance Cordoba house....

Papier, Bitte. Read the article...If this does not disturb you, anger you, then you are a fool. It frightens me as well as angers me.
Would you allow yourself to be stopped and to surrender your ID when ordered? I think I might just refuse and see if they would be willing to arrest me for refusing. As far as I know, Indiana law says you must identify yourself when asked, not produce ID on demand. Nor can you be patted down and searched (with the "Terry" exemption to that, I.E if the officer has reason to believe that he might be in danger) without probable cause. What is the law when a police officer gives you an unlawful order?

Would you allow yourself to be stopped and to surrender your ID when ordered? I think I might just refuse and see if they would be willing to arrest me for refusing. As far as I know, Indiana law says you must identify yourself when asked, not produce ID on demand. Nor can you be patted down and searched (with the "Terry" exemption to that, I.E if the officer has reason to believe that he might be in danger) without probable cause. What is the law when a police officer gives you an unlawful order?

Levelers:
Some folks are levelers....They would, rather than give those who are lower on the economic scale (usually due to choices they might make, but that is another discussion for another time....) an opportunity to raise themselves up, instead work to pull those who are more successful, (either directly, through hard work or through having selected their parents carefully) down to a lower level.....all in the name of "fairness". Rather than fill in the low spots in the road, they would instead shave off the high points....
If this means that they disincentivise success, thrift, and productivity, and reward sloth, foolish economic decisions and waste, they seem to be OK with that......Reward "living in the moment" by taking from those who plan ahead...all in the name of "equality" and egalitarianism.
These folks are (either admitted or still closeted) socialists.
Winston Churchill may have made the best statement about socialism:
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance,
and the gospel of envy,
its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

If we have oversight like this.....Then what will they do with healthcare?
$1 BILLION in coins, that no one wants, and no one accepts....But the mint is still producing them! We already have a 10 year supply, and have spent nearly 100 million to convince people to use them.....and they have been rejected by those troublesome citizens who won't do what we are told....
Wonder what it costs to store and inventory those coins?
The one advantage is that as long as they remain out of circulation, this offsets some of the money that Bush and Obama created out of thin air as part of the Tarp and Stimulus packages...so it does (in a small way) help with the inflation issue)
The sad part is that you didn't see this on the US MSM, but it can be found at the BBC..

Why I hope Portland drops off the map
Because it's citizens allow THIS to happen.
While I understand the reasoning, the inspectors need their asses kicked, and they should fear for their jobs. And should fear the wrath of the citizens they (supposedly) serve.
Make no mistake, this can happen anywhere in this country.....Any larger town (most small town citizens would see to it that he/she got fired). Bureaucrats gone wild, No supervisors reigning them in.
It is all because they do not fear (or respect) the citizens they are supposed to serve.

Hiroshima
Today marks the day on which the United States killed many thousands of innocent Japanese.....
Or so you might hear from some folks who weren't there, in that time, nor who fully understand the facts of war.
Today does indeed mark the day on which the United States dropped a first of it's kind weapon on a Japanese city and began the end of a war. Today does mark the day in which many Japanese people in Hiroshima died. This was, indeed, a tragedy. Many more died in the (conventional) bombings in Tokyo, and Dresden, and Hamburg. But this also was the culmination of a clash of cultures. The Japanese were, by our standards, barbarians, and by theirs, so were we. Historians argue that the Japanese were forced into war, and this may have some validity. But ultimately, the Japanese attacked the US, and ultimately, they were defeated. Their culture today bears little resemblance to that of pre-WWII. This is largely due to the changes the US (and it's allies) forced upon the losers of the war. Total surrender was what made this happen. But Hiroshima was not a non-military city. It had many strategic targets, and it's citizens were a significant part of the machine which made war materiel for the soldiers and sailors of the Japanese Amy and Navy.
Today marks the day when the weapon created by thousands of men and women, the most highly educated people in the world, ended a war. This weapon was created not only by the brains of those scientists, but also by the industrial might of a nation. Without that industrial might, "The Bomb" would not have been possible, and (estimates vary) up to a million US servicemen would likely have died invading the Japanese Home Islands.
Is this a day to rejoice? If you are the descendant of one of those men who would have been a part of the invasion force, then yes, I suppose it is. But for all of us, it should be a day of remembrance of the horrors of war, and a day of prayer for those who lost their lives, on that day and every other day of the war.
This day, 65 years ago, ushered in the "atomic age" with its attendant fears from that point forward of "The BOMB" for people around the world. People grew up learning to fear atomic annihilation, learned "Duck and Cover" and expected to spend weeks or months surviving in fallout shelters. Children of today apparently have no idea what the fears of the day were.
But this day was the beginning of the end of a war, 65 years ago.

I am all for the expression of religious freedom, but there is a point at which it becomes something else. I believe that the point of no return is approaching.....The point at which something must be done to reign in and to stop appeasing.
If the push continues, the backlash (if the citizens of the US can muster the testicular fortitude to stand up) will become terrible for the moderates.

Mosque protest
While I am of two minds on the broughhaha over the siting of Mosque near the WTC site, I have a suggestion to make for those folks who are most affected.
If the people of New York really want to protest the building of a Mosque near the WTC site, they have to do something that will really really make an impact. Mass protests will not. Violence will not do enough of the job (and, to be honest, would be quite wrong).
A good idea for them is to have a list of those firms which bid on, and accept the various construction jobs in the building of the Mosque....Publish that list. Any carpentry firm which chooses to work on the Mosque should face penalties. They should be protested, and any other potential building project should exclude them from the list of potential bidders. Same goes for any ironwork, masonry work, electrical work, telephone/communication work, painters, drywallers, plumbers, etc. In fact, the trade unions should strongly suggest (with all that that implies in New York!) to their members that they should refuse to work in the place. Any firm which chooses to employ them after they begin work on the Mosque should be protested as well. Drive those who would aid and abet this insult out of business. If they cannot get, or find it difficult to find, anyone licensed to do the work, then this will make the project untenable. But this means that those who choose to do the work must fear the consequences of choosing to do so, and must fear the repercussions....
This too is constitutionally acceptable. And if the people of New York really care enough, they can make this happen. No violence, no mass protest, nothing but dissuading those who woukld do the work to renovate/construct the Mosque. Even if there were enough firms which would take the chance, if enough union members would refuse to work on it, it would keep the Mosque from being built. All it takes is the courage to take a stand.
There are those who have said that the will of the people should be followed. I disagree. Currently the Mosque is legal, and therefore it should be allowed to be built AS FAR AS ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY IS CONCERNED. The prevention of the mosque from being built by any government agency opens the path to a very slippery slope. We are, after all, a nation of laws....and those laws should be followed, even when such a project as this is unpopular. But this does not mean that a project in such bad taste, nor as insulting to those folks living in the area should not have it's roadblocks.
If this solution were followed, no firm would DARE to bid on any part of the project, and no workers (union or not) would dare to work at the site......Therfore, no builing or renovation would take place

Hey! Barry and his people like crack
Crack Cocaine, that is...
Seems that Crack, which has destroyed poorer neighborhoods ....a disproportionately higher number of black
neighborhoods.....and a higher number of black citizens are arrested for possession than any other race.....
So what is the solution? Reduce the penalty for possession of crack....
Yeah, that'll help/ It'll keep fewer black folks (and, lets face it, fewer of everyone) from being tossed in prison....But IT WON"T HELP THE DRUG PROBLEM.
Gotta keep the racial balance and all that....Fools.

Dirty pool, but legal. And the court says that "the only effect of the district court's injunction in this case is to preserve a status quo that has existed for a long period of time."....IN other words...We like it they way it is, and we don't see an immediate need to change things.
What happens to the governor, and her LEOs if she decides to tell the court to go piss up a rope and begins following the law as it is enacted? Would the feds really be willing to push the issue enough to arrest her? It would bring the issue to a boil even faster....Wonder if she has the guts?
