Kwestion:

Y'know....there area LOT of folks that were Anti-Gun that, once taken to a range and taught to shoot, have converted from an Anti-Gun stance to, if not Pro-Gun, at least accepting that GUNS are not the terrible things they thought they were.

Has anyone, ever, found a Pro-Gun person (or someone who was ambivalent on the subject) who, once exposed to firearms, and having the opportunity for a range session, has converted to Anti-Gun?

I've taught over a thousand folks in formal NRA classes, and thousands more in informal range sessions, and I've never encountered the latter scenario.

I've done my part as an ambassador, have you?

Outstanding!

And the Supremes give the unions the finger.

About  time.
They've held the workers hostage long enough.

Of course they are

Seems that the folks at the NSA are incompetent...

Firstly, they collected data illegally.

Then too much data was collected, again breaking the law.

Now they are (supposedly) deleting the data they have collected in an illegal manner, which is, again, against the law.

I wonder what they are covering up?

One last step

As soon as the FAA gets the website back and running, I can do the forms neccessary so I can schedule my checkride.

While the  Independence Day Holiday may mess that up, It will be soon.

I only hope the Pilot Examiner dude isn't too booked up.

More as things progress.

Classy chick identified:

Democrats lately don't seem to think they have to behave in any fashion....

Remember the woman who said "Fuck You Mr President"?

Class act, that one.

Seems she has been identified...As an intern in the office of Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH)..

And the best part???
She will not be fired. She has, however been suspended and her badge revoked.
(I think, at first, they were gonna ignore the bad behavior, but then people found out about it so they had to do something).
If any of the Interns or staffers of any senators or congressmen act that way, no matter what their party, I would expect them to be fired immediately, even if they had done so to Barry Obama. There is such a thing as good behavior, and there is a line that one should not cross.

It is interesting

That even the (very) liberal news media commentators and anchors are commenting on the latest wave of Liberal incivility towards Trump supporters and his workers and cabinet members.

While not "outraged" they all seem to be intelligent enough to realize that these current behaviors cross the line, and are moved to comment on it.

There is hope for the Media.

Sense of entitlement:

Seems the (expected) incoming President of Mexico thinks that his citizens have every right to invade the US.

"It's a Human Right!"
“And soon, very soon — after the victory of our movement — we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world, who, by necessity, have to leave their towns to find a life in the United States,” Obrador said, adding that it’s “a human right we will defend,”

Wall. Congress: Wall. Now.

I find it interesting that, instead of expecting people to make their towns and cities better there in Mexico, it is somehow OK to bring them to the US, where they cause an increase in crime and lowering of community standards. So what Mexico is really doing is bringing it's people here to colonize and bring the US down to Mexico's level. Kinda Socialist, innit?

SO, 30 years on.....

It would seem that the Global Warming crowd was.....

READ about it HERE (WSJ...may be a paywall, hit reload and then ESC while it is loading))...it seems that thirty years on, their predictions were.....bad.

Of course, they just keep increasing the tidings of Doom in order to get even more funding....

Parallels

Have ya ever noticed that almost all Liberals and most women are nearly never acknowledge their mistakes and pretty much NEVER apologize?

Even when their failure to do so is destructive to them and those around them?

So does this mean....

That every parent who is arrested and detained will get to take their children into stir with them?

I mean, shootings, stabbings, Drunk Driving felonies....Murderers, blue collar and White collar crime? Domestic abuse? Drug possession? I mean, since we allow folks who cross the border illegally and are detained to keep their kids, why not all lawbreakers?

We are gonna have to build bigger prisons then.
Lots bigger. And probably add private showers and Playrooms...

"Yeah, But..."

"Were you outraged when Obama kept illegal immigrant kids in cages?"

Yeah, but that's different. He was the LightBringer(er)...Today, it is Trump.

Even CNN is noticing the double standard. Which means it is pretty damned obvious.

Long ago, when I was a kid...

We had real dangerous toys.

Today, the most dangerous toy in the world is a Water Balloon Slingshot.

I find that sad.

I had toys that would burn you, cut you, and, if you did it right, I could make shit that would give you chemical burns and probably blind you available in my chemistry set.

I mean, really? The best you can do is a water balloon slingshot?

We had Jarts, which were heavy, sharp pointed real lawn darts. One had to learn to Stay Out of The Way when they were falling.

I had a lead soldier kit. Yeah, real molten lead and some molds. One learned quickly to Not Spill Molten Lead On Your Skin.

Real Bows and Arrows. With points.

BB guns. Don't Shoot Your Brother In The Face. (the ass was OK though).

Other toys too, all potentially lethal or damaging.

And we survived.

Water Balloons? Really?

Of course, it's not their fault...

So some parents were too busy to monitor their kid, and the kid broke a $132,000 statue.....

The parents, of course, blame everyone but themselves.

" No plexiglass. Not protected. Not held down . . . There was no border around it. There wasn't even a sign around it that said, 'Do not touch.".

Watch the video. Kid was unsupervised. Totally.

I think the kid's parents should be forced to pay the bill.

I used to run a motel. Parents would leave their kids to run round for HOURS. from a young as 2 or three....No supervision, no one watching them...either to discipline or protect 'em from predators. If they got up to mischief, or got hurt, they tried to blame the business. If we tried to stop little Suzy or young Hunter from climbing into the vending machine or something, we were castigated because she/he "Isn't your child" .

Parents are responsible for the behavior of their child, even up to and including damage they do, either through maliciousness or carelessness.

Trade wars hurt everyone...

Except those who made a better deal with previous US administrations....

Deutschland to give up it's 10% protective tariff on  US made automobiles.

Odd, that. Tariffs are bad....right?

Classy classy

Such nice folks they have working for 'em, innit?

Woman congressional intern/aide shouts "Mr. President: Fuck you!" as he walks the halls of the Capitol.

I'm sure she thought that was something to be proud of and all her friends are buying her a Frappachino right now.

So,

I've noticed that the current tempest in a teapot from the media regarding the illegal immigrants has a couple of issues:

The folks detained are treated as criminals....'cause that is what they are. And the treatment of their families is the same as any parent arrested and detained by Law Enforcement: The kids are placed in protective custody, the same as any dependents of a US citizen who was arrested and detained would be. (When possible, kids are placed with family members, if not DCFS or another local agency is charged to find a place to care for them....there is no difference in the treatment of the kids of folks detained, US citizen or not).

The Trump administration is not the first to do this. But the issue gives the media a way to (independently, of course) hammer on him yet again.

The media, and especially the folks they interview, seem to feel that these illegal border crossers have every right to enter this country, and that they are doing no wrong when they do.  This is simply not the case. They have no right to enter our borders without permission.  Further, the implication is that these folks don't cost the US anything....which is also false.  Illegal immigrants cost the US in excess of $120 BILLION every year.

At the end of the day, again, I would ask each of those folks who believe that these border crossers have every right to enter our country and live here without the permission of our government, and believe that they cost us nothing, each take a family of at least 4 members and house 'em, clothe 'em, and feed 'em. Put your money where your mouth is, folks, or you are a hypocrite. If you wish to welcome invaders into our country that will dilute our wealth and standard of living, then let us start with YOUR wealth and YOUR standard of living.

Terrible treatment:

'Twas pointed out to me earlier Monday that the kids being separated from their parents who illegally entered the country (and who were treated like any other criminal, even to the fact that criminals of any nationality who are caught and incarcerated and NEVER allowed to keep their kids with them (no kids even in our women's prisons, or jails either,  folks). Those kids separated from their parents at the border get better food, better healthcare, better care period.... better clothes than we give to the kids in our inner cities (who are, in my opinion, treated fairly well sometimes what with all the Free Shit that they get) and are being taught that America...Los Estados Unitos....is, indeed, the land of Free Shit.

Full court press

So the media: CBS, NBC MSNBCSN ABC, CNN, most of the east coast and west coast (and old, large city) newspapers are all (independently, of course) choosing to give us sob-stories about all these illegal alien immigrants who cross the border illegally being detained as CRIMINALS and separated from their children....

All of them, at the same time. Each and every left leaning media company. Simultaneously giving us stories of the cruelty of incarcerating the parents and separating the children from them. Odd how that timing works, innit?

Of course, the press doesn't collude to influence public opinion. I know this because the press tells me so.

Question for some of you:

All you folks whining about the CBP practice of separating those kids from their parents when said parents are caught illegally entering the country...ETA: (And, per comments  entering at Border Stations and DEMANDING asylum (a valid, if meaningless, point))

All you folks who think that the border jumpers should be given a red carpet and welcomed into the country even without a visa...

And all those that are here already....you think they should have instant (or at least an easy, no consequences) path to citizenship...

So here's my question:

How many of those mothers with children are you going to welcome into your home?? How many of those folks are you, personally, going to support? Feed, clothe, house, pay their medical bills....How many will be guests in YOUR house?

Are you willing to stand good for their behavior, and the behavior of their children?

Or is that someone else's job? If so, how much are you willing to pay for someone else to house, and clothe and feed, and take care of those folks? I'm not talking taxes, that isn't what taxes are supposed to be used for. I'm talking a significant percentage of YOUR income.

40%?
60%

Are you willing to reduce your spending to the poverty level? Move to a smaller home? Give up some possessions?

Or are you only just willing to spend someone else's money?
If you won't do any of the above, you are a hypocrite. You want someone else to do the work, and pay the bills....So you can feel good and then forget those folks who enter illegally.

Lucky day

Today, I celebrate my luck:

I had a Dad.

I had a dad who taught me things,

Who wasn't violent, but did punish me when needed, even though he hated to do so. He taught me right from wrong.

Who taught me how to be a man,
Taught me to do "man things" .

Taught me when to stand up and be a man.

Who was hard, when he had to be, gentle when needed.
Strong as a rock.

Never shirked his job, and never abandoned it.

I was lucky.
Not everyone is.

I know who may dad is, and I wouldn't be the person I am today without his guidance.

Thanks, Dad.

Happy Fathers Day.

Why is it always Democrats?

Seems now that Carmen Cruz, the San Juan Mayor (D)(Puerto Rico) is being investigated for corruption during the relief of the Island in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

Odd, isn't it, that each time there is a major disaster, it is always the Democrats who not only exhibit extraordinary incompetence before and after the tragedy, but, eventually some form of corruption...taking advantage of the rush and confusion to squeeze a few more dollars from an already beleaguered government trying to help the citizens that need that help badly.

So we have these failings.....

Failure to prepare for the disaster beforehand.

Failure to organize relief efforts afterwards (one can, maybe, give her a pass for this....it was, after all, a disaster, and organization was no doubt troublesome in the immediate aftermath)

Failure to ensure that the supplies were sent where they were needed.

Failure to make sure that the ports and truck drivers would, you know....unload and transport those supplies to places where they were needed....instead supporting the strikes in order to gain political favor from those powerful unions.

Failure to ensure that the supplies that weren't transported were inventoried...Tens of millions of dollars worth of supplies....food, water, medicine ...Parts to restore the power grid, etc, were sitting there, not inventoried and not moved to where they were needed.

Now we find that some hastily created companies were formed....and given preferential treatment,,,,to supply items needed ..at exorbitant prices...When people were, literally, starving and dying of thirst.

It's like New Orleans only on an island. And in Spanish instead of english.

Corruption and mismanagement killed how many folks in Puerto Rico? And all for a few dollars?

Standards?

Standards aren't fair! I mean, they DEFINE you. And the tests MEASURE you, and make you meet Standards.

And no one likes have to measure up. It's SO HARD.

University of Chicago to stop requiring ACT and SAT scores for prospective undergraduates

So how, exactly are they gonna measure who is capable of actually, you know, Graduating?

Or is the goal just to get people to enroll and spend (someone's) money at the school?

ETA: I am told by people that should know better than I do that there is a great deal of thought in the academic world that the standardized tests (ACT/SAT) do not predict collegiate success as much as we might have thought. While I am not convinced, the arguments were that High School GPA and some other placement tests do a better job of predicting said success.. At this time, the jury is still out. It was also pointed out that there is a LOT of money that changes hands for the ACT/SAT every year, so there is a LOT of pushback to keep the standardized testing in place.  While I am not convinced yet, (as no one can seem to point out any studies that prove the theories, one way or the other) I now am not sure.

Yeah, it is a publicity stunt:

But still, the fact that it can happen shows that the municipalities are falling down on their jobs....that they are not spending the Taxpayer's money wisely.

Domino's Is Fixing Potholes Because They're Ruining Pizza
"Paving for pizza" is a good advertising gimmick, and the sign of a sad state of infrastructural affairs.

Spending too much on "Social Safety Nets" and allowing the public unions to dictate staffing rates and wages and benefits....to the detriment of the people they are supposed to serve.

Sad.

Tariffs are bad.....

Unless, of course, they are tariffs that the mother country imposes on imports from the US.

Trump offers to cut ALL tariffs, if the other G7 countries will do the same.

No tariffs, no Government subsidized industries, Nothing but unadulterated Free Trade.

The other G7 leaders did not comment. Nor did they accept his offer.

DoYa own a Ruger mark IV???

If so, you might want to read this:

Ruger recalling some MkIV (including 22/45) pistols due to issues with safeties.

Seems that if you put the safety on part-way and then pull the trigger (why??) and then move the safety, than things get all loud and such.

What is it about liberals....

that they think that anyone with a British accent (or even better, an Australian or quasi-expatriate British-like or even better; a breathless Irish or Scottish-like accent (fake or real) has more credibility than someone with an American (US) or any other accent?

It's not like these commentors have  more education than their American english speaking counterparts....they are, after all, just voice actors reading a script.

So why? What makes the Liberals sit up and listen to them with rapt attention. What gives the accented voice-overs more credibility and gravitas in their eyes?

Seattle decides not to open up the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs

And decides they'd rather have Amazon as an employer of their citizens rather than Tax them into leaving.

Amazon told the city they'd vote with their wallet (and feet) rather than pay an exorbitant tax on their employees. The giant was willing to abandon their new building and leave....go elsewhere where their presence was welcomed...where they were wanted and seen as more than a source of additional tax  income, rather than a source of good jobs for people.

50,000 jobs stayed in the greater Seattle area.

Greed kills, as the Fairy Tale taught many of us long ago.....others, perhaps, have to learn that lesson over and over

And they NEVER stop, do they?

Critics are critical of the Royal Family after Prince George is seen playing with a TOY gun.

"Completely tone deaf of Kate... to give Prince George a toy gun. Doesn’t she read the papers in her own country with all the gun deaths?"

I think that if these folks had to face the people they criticize, instead of just posting their criticism on Twitter, they'd be more circumspect.

Interesting that the Anti Gun folks have crossed the pond....

Life expectancy

Ranked by state.

How long will you live?

Me? Just under 75 years.

(Not sure what criteria they used, or how they compared things to other countries)

SO, the feminists have won

When will we have the interview portion of the Olympics, instead of swimming and running and lifting weights? I mean, since physicality doesn't matter......

So one thing the Feminists have always had as a trademark is that they are, generally, not in great physical shape, nor are they attractive. They wear clothing that is tentlike, and they attempt to hide the fact that they eat too much and work out not enough. They don't care enough to clean up or do more than bundle their hair up so it doesn't get in the way. Often, they look like fat slobs, because they are, mostly, essentially lazy fat slobs. (yes, I know I am generalizing and all, but in most cases it is true)

And they tend to dislike women who keep themselves physically fit, and who dress to show it, and who take the time to pay attention to their physical appearance...hair,makeup, etc.

And now they've gotten to the Miss America pageant........ "No longer a pageant, but a competition"....

Instead of being, essentially, a pageant that judges women on their appearance AND their talents (and, at the end of it all, their apparent fertility) the "Competition" will be before a panel of judges that will judge based on some other kind of criteria.

I foresee the end of the pageant. Not because men won't watch it, (mostly, we don't) but because WOMEN will stop watching it. It isn't MEN that fuel the FOUR HUNDRED BILLION DOLLAR yearly market for cosmetics and other "beauty" products....And because everyone that watches, watches to see pretty women dressed well.

Miss America started as a swimsuit competition and no on ever forced any of the young women contestants to compete with her peers.....

I predict it will either change back within 3 years, or will go bankrupt.

The scary part is

That this guy getting onto the base is no, apparently, and aberration:

Other local delivery guys said the guards rarely check for any ID. “They don’t ask us for ID,” said Juan Salvador, 38, an immigrant from Guatemala who delivers for Fourth Avenue deli Goustaro. But his manager said she, too, is now afraid to send undocumented food couriers into the federal facility.

So lets see here:

Lots of businesses admit that they employ Illegal Aliens undocumented workers. (Where is ICE?? One would think that they would be raiding investigating these restaurants)

These people, both the businesses and the illegals, think that they have a right to work (and to employ) against current federal and state laws.

Apparently, being asked for ID at the gate to the base is not normal.

Non-US citizens have, apparently, had unsupervised access to a US military installation for a long time.

This is a bigger issue than just one man who has lived here illegally for YEARS while under a deportation order.

Like anyone could just walk in and take it.....

Seems that the main piece of evidence against Imran Awan...the darling of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was stolen....The Server containing all evidence of his activities was "removed before action was taken to secure it".

This happened in early February, but why are we only hearing about it now?

And why was no action taken to secure said server? One would think the FBI would have taken possession of it as evidence ....Unless, of course, they had reasons not to.

One wonders what sort of blackmail material against the DNC folks Imran Awan has to hold such power that they will blatantly hide his wrongdoings.....

and, further why is DWS getting away with shielding him by supressing evidence.

That was a success:

So that dude who wanted to get a few birthday cards for his 100th birthday?

I and many others "boosted the signal" and asked our readers to send him some cards.

Apparently, many folks did so.

He received over 55 THOUSAND cards and letters.....and counting.

Thank you to all who sent letters and cards and who passed the message on. Sometimes the internet can be a wonderful thing.

6 June.

1944

Think of all those boys and men that, 74 years ago, were either waiting in a Higgins boat to be shot at on a beach, or were already being shot at, having glidered or parachuted in.

Think of their bravery, their fear (for one cannot have bravery without fear) and their resolve.

Europe, in general, will never be able to repay the US for the sacrifice of it's young men that day, and in the days following.

Yay! My state is tied for 22nd

Seems that CBS did a poll on gun ownership by state.

(and that, of course, assumes that everyone told the truth though)

Where is your state?

Do ya think the ranking is valid, or did folks polled not give good info?

While this could have hurt someone...

and I find such tactics childish and cowardly....

I also find it funny. I only wish the little fame seeking narcissist was home at the time.....

Seems that someone SWATTED DAVID HOGG.

One might have thought that the cops would have known his address.

But whoever did this should go to jail. And they are NOT on my team..

I Iz Back

New hard drive. Seems that the data was totally scrozzled. So, even though Geek Squad thought that it was the update (apprently , others have had this same issue) they chose tor start fresh with a new drive as well.

So, new Windows, New drive, same chassis.

And I am back.

Technical difficulties:

So I FINALLY got the big Windows update to run, and actually finish. Took 4 calls to Windows to resolve it.

and it worked for 2 dys......Then I rebooted the machine.

Big Big mistake. That update? Yeah, it really fixed my machine.....

Now I have all sorts of configuration errors and other things preventing the machine from booting.

I am gonna have to go to an expert for this, or at least someone who knows more than I do.

I can't blog from a tablet, so there may be little new posting for a day or 2.

Thanks Windows. Thnaks a LOT.

thought for the weekend:

Think "Deep State":

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson
