A view of what is to come

The Romneycare bill comes due.

"But last August Beacon Hill was forced to impose new price controls and a cap on overall state health spending because "health-care spending has crowded out key public investments," as Mr. Patrick puts it in his budget.
He's right about that: Health care was 23% of the state fisc in 2000, and 25% in 2006, but it has climbed to 41% for 2013. On current trend it will roll past 50% around 2020—and that best case scenario assumes Mr. Patrick's price controls work as planned. (They won't.) In real terms the state's annual health-care budget is 15% larger than it was in 2007, while transportation has plunged by 22%, public safety by 17% and education by 7%. Today Massachusetts spends less on roads, police and schools after adjusting for inflation than it did in 2007."
AND:

"Last week the second-term Democrat followed his party's recent habit and proposed an increase in the state's single-rate income tax to 6.25% from 5.25%, the first in more than 20 years. The Bay State constitution requires a flat rate, so the Governor is sticking it to all taxpayers."

Just wait until it is nationwide. Until you have to wait weeks for an appointment. Until the cost triples. Until Doctors won't work because they don't get paid enough (or for months or years).

Just wait....

"Immigration reform"

11 or 12 or 15 million new democratic voters....
(The number varies depending on who you listen to). Liberals want to grant them amnesty.

The message: Come here, wait long enough, break the law long enough, and we will reward you with citizenship.

While I feel sorry for those folks who have been here for a long time, who raised a family and put down roots here, they chose to do so illegally. They chose to live the life they did. I feel for people whose better option is to live in this country illegally. What a terrible place they must have moved from for that to be a better choice.

But I do not want a blanket amnesty like 1986, which gave 3 million law breakers, people who chose to cheat, and who had no real ties to this country, no "skin in the game"  no loyalty to this country and what it stands for , who cared only for the economic wealth and the security living in this country provides. People who then began agitating for MORE amnesties, and MORE entry barriers to be taken down. Whose loyalties were to their race and culture, not to the Constitution nor the rule of law. Who made the barrios even worse than they were before, because they had no fear of deportation.

That amnesty left us with an emboldened group of illegal immigrants, a larger pool of crime, and still, thanks to a series of lawsuits (and a congress who lied to us), a border no more secure than when the "conversation" on the issue began. Essentially, the amnesty in 1986 gave us nothing but trouble.

Fast forward to today. Same thing, only 11 or 12 or 15 million more people who owe no allegiance to this country, to it's laws, nor to it's Constitution. More people who will not assimilate into the "Great Melting Pot:, but will, rather invade.

And an invasion it is. Aided by our liberal leaders, who kowtow to those same people who gained legitimacy in the last amnesty.  Invasion because no assimilation. Invasion because no melding of culture. Invasion because they agitate for an Hispanic state...the return of Azatlan. An invasion, because they owe a greater allegiance to other brown people from Mexico or "Latino culture" than they do to the country they are invading. They have no interest in our laws.

While I think it would be difficult to round 'em up and deport 'em. It would not be difficult to get them to self deport. large enough fines would be a method to discourage anyone from employing them. Cutting off any "entitlements" unless they prove citizenship wouldn't hurt either. No money, they'll move back home.

But the real point of this diatribe is that the pro amnesty forces are working in the background while the rest of us are watching the gun control farce hearings

Yeah, we need folks like this

Keeping us safe from guns and drugs... What fools...what idiots. What bumbling boobs.

So they admit

That  little they can do will prevent the sort of tragedy that was Sandy hook.

Registration wouldn't have done it
The 'Assault Weapons Ban" was already in place in Connecticut
Background checks wouldn't have helped (in fact, the waiting period didn't do it either)

But, we need all those things in order to prevent something like that from happening again.

The gun banners are lying cheating weasels. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. The Media, the papers, and the other politicians.

And the cries about the gun deaths are crocodile tears. No one wants to admit that most gun violence happens in ethnically and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, among teens who are not model citizens, and who won't get their weapons legally. Who, in fact, never have.

But no one will call them on it.

They will ask for everything, and end up getting something. That something (what it is remains to be seen) will still not change the possibilities of another Sandy Hook, or an Aurora, And it wouldn't have kept Gabby Giffords from being shot, (and subsequently used as a pawn by those who would disarm the rest of their countrymen). Her husband lies claims Universal Background checks would have prevented her from being shot....Except that her shooter PASSED a background check when he bought his GLOCK. That something, likely background checks, will, ultimately, reduce your freedoms.

Which is, really, their aim anyway.. Disarm you, reduce the prevalence of firearms, and eventually end gun ownership, until the populace is disarmed.

They'll take what they can get today, and come back for the rest as soon as they think they can get them.

Call, email, Fax, Send a telegram....whatever it takes. Make sure your congressweasels get the message.

Read this

HERE. Think on it. Decide.

I was working up a post on this same subject, but I shall step aside and allow a master wordsmith to speak for me. His prose is better and more eloquent than mine will ever be. Pay attention.

The time is coming when you shall have to make that decision:

 Serf or Citizen?

It will be sooner than you think.....And uglier than you can imagine.

Decide......Soon.

Before the decision is made for you.

Be ready.

They are preparing.  Are you?

Justa thought:

"By failing to prepare, you are, indeed, preparing to fail."

Franklin, Benjamin

Look forward, what do you see? Can you see difficulties? Can you prepare to eliminate (or at least mitigate) those issues?

Then do so. Soon.

Plan ahead. Prepare for the storm that it approaching.

Those who fail to learn from history

Are doomed to repeat it.

Reeds Exhibitions failed to observe what happened to him in,IIRC, 2007 when he posted on his blog at Outdoor Life the following:

I must be living in a vacuum. The guides on our hunt tell me that the use of AR and AK rifles have a rapidly growing following among hunters, especially prairie dog hunters. I had no clue. Only once in my life have I ever seen anyone using one of these firearms. I call them "assault" rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I'll go so far as to call them "terrorist" rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are "tackdrivers." Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern. I've always been comfortable with the statement that hunters don't use assault rifles. We've always been proud of our "sporting firearms." This really has me concerned. As hunters, we don't need the image of walking around the woods carrying one of these weapons. To most of the public, an assault rifle is a terrifying thing. Let's divorce ourselves from them. I say game departments should ban them from the praries [sic] and woods.[2]

The result was, for him, significant and swift: The public outcry was loud. People, sportsmen and hunters, demanded action.  They got it.

He lost his job a spokesman for Remington, his Outdoor Channel show was put on hold, and Outdoor life essentially fired him. Other sponsors severed their relationship with him as well. His career was, for all intents and purposed, over.

Same with Reeds Exhibitions. While there are other shows, of other types that they will promote and manage, they have, for all intents and purposes lost the shooting and outdoors segment of their business. Eastern Sports and Outdoors show is, essentially, history. Likely they will lose the SHOT show because of public outcry.

Political correctness doesn't fly among sportsmen, no matter it be fishing, hunting, trapping, or whatever. We tend to see reality as it is.

Too bad Reeds doesn't..Yet. Likely neither will our politicians until they start something they won't like.

Be aware

That while we are all up in arms over gun control, the legislature are quietly talking "immigration reform".

Essentially, amnesty to 11 million or so illegal immigrants.

So let your congressmen know that you don't like that idea either.

Do it in a separate phone call or email or fax.

I wonder if this whole thing isn't planned out ahead  of time...keeping us distracted over gun control while slipping the knife into our backs over illegals.

Goalposts, moving of:

So Obama wants the Republicans to compromise on gun control:

Here the thing, if we are gonna "have a discussion" on gun control, then lets have one.

The left wants us to compromise from the current position, which was a compromise of the current position then....They keep wanting a compromise from the previous compromise . They steadily move the goalpost from zero control towards confiscation. Every few years, they stand on their current position and say "we need to have a conversation on gun control" We need to compromise" the thing is, for many of us, the last few compromises went too far already.

We cannot keep on "compromising" our rights freedoms, and ability to resist tyranny away every few years.

If the left *REALLY* wants a "conversation" on gun control then let us have one:

On the table is all the below legislation:

National Firearms Act of 1934
Omnibus Crime Control act of 1968
Gun Control Act of 1968
Firearms Owners Act of 1986

Lets "discuss" those regulations....With an eye towards repealing them. Let's compromise.

And let us put the ATF (BATF(e)) back to a taxing agency, not an enforcement agency with what are essentially stormtroopers.

When those are all subject to repeal, Then we can we have a "discussion" about compromises.

Today, they want to play checkers. We have been playing chess for a while. But I think that that the chess players on their side are waiting and watching. So should we.

Keep calling your senators and congressmen. State reps too. Even if you KNOW they will vote one way or another, keep the pressure on. Keep them informed as to what you want. Encourage others to do the same.

You can find your legislators at the top of the left side, under "How to find your congresscritters" Take the time to call...Or FAX....or Email. If they vote on our side, encourage and support them. If not,and they vote against your views, then make sure they know that they are pissing off a constituent. One who votes.

Passin' this on, just because

You gotta read THIS.

Sadly, it may well not be a troll. I know people who would nod their head and say 'I can't argue with the logic".  Sadly, these people have a vote that is as valid a yours or mine.

"Fake but accurate" applies here, maybe.

Troll or not, it is funny.

Naked capitalism

Gunshow yesterday....

Prices for Black Rifles were high (2-3 times what they were just  month or so ago). Ammo too. Few deals were to be had. The Gun Show promoter was making a large pile of cash though.Lots of looking, few buyers.

Listened to one guy complain about the high prices and the "gouging" . Asked him why he was buying now? He said he wanted a rifle before "they" made them illegal, but was unhappy about the prices. He felt that the prices should have remained at the "old" level.

I inquired why he hadn't bought a gun when he had the opportunity in the years leading up to now? Hadn't he seen the writing on the wall?

He complained that he hadn't "needed" one until now.

So I asked him why he felt that since the supply had remained the same and the demand had increased that pricing should not reflect that? What was wrong with good old capitalistic commerce? No one was forcing him to make that purchase. Why he felt that he could set prices rather than the lawful owner of the firearms? Why should anyone accommodate his failure to plan by giving him a gun at the "old" prices??

He complained that it wasn't "fair"

So I looked at him and said "I bet you are the kind of guy who doesn't merge with traffic until the last minute....yer the guy who runs up in the lane and expects everyone else to let you in, and bitches when all the other cars which have been in line to exit, or to enter a construction zone, won't let you enter to the end of the line....aren't you?" Weasel.

Everyone else laughed, and he got little sympathy from the crowd.

He purpled up and stalked off complaining about how he couldn't even find a gun he could afford.

I bet he'll be the guy who complains that there aren't generators or gas readily available at low prices next time the day after an ice storm either. Likely has two days worth of food in the house, even though he knows a winter storm is coming.

I hope he had to pay a pretty penny for a "Black Rifle". Stupid should hurt. Failure to plan should cost.

Winning

Seems that the majority (or at least enough) of the vendors, exhibitors, and sponsors at the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show have pulled out that the organizer, Reed Exhibitions, has cancelled ("postponed") the show.

While I feel for the other vendors, and the folks who would have been paid to work the show, I think this an excellent thing. An excellent demonstration of the marketplace in action. And an excellent demonstration of solidarity which our legislators would do well to heed. Enough support for the Second Amendment  that a MAJOR sports show had to be cancelled.

Reeds really stuck their foot in a large pile of excrement here. And, sadly, they likely don't even realize why or how.

Missed it

Due to Technical Difficulties (a fried laptop) I didn't post the notice of J.M. Browning's birthday.

Hey, if you are a disciple of his, then you already knew that, right?

And if you are one of the others, you likely didn't care anyway.

You ever stop and wonder what he could have done with modern materials and manufacturing methods?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

To Tam.

Windows 8

After a bit of getting used to, experimenting and working with it with an open mind, I have come to the conclusion that the folks who designed (and approved) this abortion were smoking crack while shooting heroin.

A more irritating operating system may exist....I have just not yet found it.

Windows 8 truly sucks as an interface.

I'll be damned

The NRA took a stand. I didn't think they had the balls.

NRA withdraws from Eastern Sports and Outdoors show due to Reed Exhibitions decision to ban "modern sporting rifles"

And Now Ruger has pulled out as well.

Mossberg as well.

ETA: Here is a more complete list of boycotting companies.

Some of these companies make the bulk of their orders at this show. THese smaller companies are risking a lot to make a statement. I intend to look at the list carefully and will choose them when their products match my needs, even if I have to pay a premium. I hope you do too.

  ETA: links fixed

My laptop crashed.

Be back soon.

They are smarter than I am anyway.

"Negative rights" VS "Positive rights"

Worth reading HERE.

VIA

I'll be shopping at Cabelas

and taking the time to review which vendors, suppliers, and sponsors are dropping from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show and other venues organized by Reed Exhibitions. Their decision will influence my purchases.

Both the NRA, and NSSF , of course, caved. Guess the feel that they need the money....Statements HERE and HERE.

Commercial interest will, for many, outweigh the support of the Second Amendment. But it is nice to see some vendors, like Cabelas and Trijicon stand up for what is right, and put their money behind what they believe in.

If I can find a list of those who stood against such bullshit, I'll post it. If you have a list, please, send it to me.

Article two

Section one,
      Clause eight:

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:— "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Will you, Barry? This time, will you? Not twist the words, not twist the meaning.... Just "preserve, protect, and defend" the Constitution as written.

'Cause I think you violated your oath shortly after taking it the first time.

And I think you have plans to do so again.

Monday, January 21, 2013

Sadly, the Federal Government chooses to lessen (and dilute) the honor they gave the Late Martin Luther King Jr. by moving the celebration of the date of his birth in order to make a three day weekend for Federal and State workers rather than honor him on his actual birthday. (his actual birthday was Jan 15, not the 20th) but that wouldn't have facilitated a three day weekend....

But think about this: He felt that he needed firearms to protect himself, and he was surrounded much of the time by other people with guns, in order to protect him and his family.

He may have embraced nonviolence, but that doesn't mean he didn't believe in protecting himself when attacked.

You'll likely not hear that part of the story when everyone pontificates on Monday, the (non)birthday celebration.

There is nothing quite so rewarding

As that "New Shooter Smile".

Actually there are many things that are so rewarding, but that smile is one of them.

Spent Saturday morning with a bunch of people helping teach an NRA First Steps pistol course put on by my local private shooting club.

Had 24 people show up, the Max our classroom can hold. If we could have held a class with 50 we'd have been able fill it. The demand for these classes has exploded.

18 of the 24 had never held a firearm in their life. Most planned to purchase one soon, or had just done so in response to the gun grab they all expect soon.  There were 2 families. Dad, Mom, and 3 daughters, and Dad, Mom and 2 sons.

After the classroom time, we went to the range and that, of course, is where I got to see the "New Shooter Smiles".

Mom and Daughters were a bit afraid, but excellent students. Mom was shaking the first time she pulled the trigger, but was hitting her target regularly at the end She'll be a gun owner soon.

Everyone was able to get their shots on target at 7 yards before they left, and they all knew how to handle, clean, load, unload and store their firearms safely.

The smiles that I saw as they left made spending a Saturday worth it.

My bet

is that Obama punts on Gun Control until he has the opportunity to "refresh" the Supreme Court with the proper level of liberalism.

Then we will have to worry.

Until then, I figure he won't try.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

It was pointed out to me today...

That what Barry really did was vote "Present" on the whole Gun Control idea.

And I couldn't argue.

I find it interesting:

That the executive orders (toothless though they are) were the best that Obama could come up with. I am sure that he felt that he Had To Do Something.

 That something wasn't much though.

One could surmise that all the phone calls and emails and faxes and such actually worked. That the Senators and Congressmen heard the voice of the people. The response must have been overwhelming for them to take notice.

The calls for "all the people to contact their legislators" by Mr. Obama show that the support for any gun control legislation is too low for him to push it any farther, so he can only call for Something to Be Done. No one would sponsor any legislation, or he would have announced it today. The fact that he didn't means that no one felt anything would happen, so they chose not to even bring a bill up for consideration. One could even think that the Senators night have told him to shut up about this....

This does not mean, however, that we can relax. Don't let up.

They won't.

ETA: Peter has a different take.

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Yeah, I guess this message was passed clearly:

I bet our legislators heard this a lot from their constituents.

Couldn't have said it better

Was researching the 29 19 23 Diktats"Executive Orders". Had commentary, but actually, Uncle says it better.

We will have to continue to agitate to Congress. Barry left the fight to them.

Call, email. Fax. MAKE YOUR VIEWPOINT KNOWN. Be NICE, Be RESPECTFUL, Be FIRM.

You can find your legislators HERE.

If you feared what Barry might do, then take the time to oppose him. Make sure your Senators and Congressmen/women know your views.

Wednesday

1/16/13

Will this be the day?

According to some, this is the day that Mr. Obama will attempt to break the nation in two.

Have you decided your "line in the sand"? Better think long and hard if not.The time has come.

Mine is well decided and well prepared for.

All I am gonna say on an open forum.

Wonder what all those folks in New York think. In a year, they either give up most of their modern semi-auto handguns and mags greater than 10 7 rounds for their rifles and pistols or they are criminals. No grandfathering either, they took away that part.

Trust your government? Not if you have two neurons to rub together rattling around in your skull.

Gotta plan? Better have one.

What are you gonna do?

Fight against enforcement? Do you have the legal right to resist?

Is there any reason to obey an unconstitutional law?

 Will you?

Remember: The founding fathers of this country fought the established government.... And won. Because then, like today, it was about freedom.

And the alternative to fighting is worse than the fighting.

Passing it on

Thoughts to cops:

To all of you people

Who say that the Police and Federal Agents would never actually confiscate weapons because it would violate their oath and all that:

Waco

Ruby Ridge.

Jose Guerena.

Look up the details: Google or Yahoo can find them for you in less than a second. You can find many other similar incidents where the Police or Feds should have stopped, but they didn't. And they won't in the future either.

How much of those incidents were Constitutional? How much was right? How much was just thugs agents of the State following orders? Did they let right and wrong stop them? Did they let that pesky Constitution stand in their way? Did they refuse to act? Refuse those orders? Walk off their comfy Government jobs and away from their pensions over a principle? Nope, they followed orders.People DIED because agents of the state failed in their oath. And didn't care. Just followed orders.

How many are rotting in prison for their actions? Name one policeman or one single federal agent who was punished for their actions in the above incidents.

None are. None, not even a token scapegoat. Not one.....20 children were killed by the FBI in Waco, The same number as in Sandy Hook....where was the outcry then? Their deaths were sanctioned by the State. Sanctioned Murder.

So if you think that taking your firearms or stepping on your Constitutional rights matters less than  being a "team player" or part of the gang, or just following orders, then you are fool. If it were, then none of the above incidents would have happened. But they did. Those men and women of the FBI/ATF/local Sheriff were following orders.

It CAN happen here, and if they are given the order, they will execute that order. Not all, but too many. Most, in fact. It is a part of their psychology and training.

Resist. You have nothing to lose. Once they trash the Second Amendment, they can more easily take away the rights enumerated by the rest of the Constitution.

And they will.
For your own good, of course.
If they have to kill you to do so.

Remember this part of another document:

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Does it apply now?

Monday, January 14, 2013

So I gotta kwestion

I, like the rest of you no doubt, have been seeing a LOT of articles on gun bans, new gun rules, etc.

and I have one question:

What the hell is "High Capacity Ammunition"?

Srsly.

Tired....and angry. Part 2

And you, you government people, Especially you Democrat/Liberals. (But this also applies to most establishment Republicans too)

I am tired. And Angry.

I am tired of you, who purport to be such high minded individuals. You have your agenda, and I understand that. But I am tired and angry at those who lie and cheat, who twist the laws to their own ends and agendas.

You who pay off your campaign donors with sweetheart deals, with Taxpayer money (actually Chinese loans that the taxpayers will someday have to repay).

You who fail to secure our borders, weakening our security and our economy, and allowing tons of drugs to flow into our country to damage our youth in communities which can afford it the least, yet who ever expands the TSA, spending BILLIONS of dollars on "Homeland Security" while trampling on our Constitutional rights.

You, whose "Justice" Department is blatantly racist, which fails to enforce the law evenhandedly, and who doesn't even pretend to be interested in "Justice".

All of you, you legislators, who turn a blind eye to, and actively opposes any laws which would reduce voter fraud, turning our elections into a joke, something which we would expect in a third world dictatorship, or be likely to find in a South American "Banana Republic".  You fail to uphold current laws, and refuse to do anything to reduce fraud, all because it currently favors you, the Republic be damned. You, who subsidizes the very organizations which have been proven to be committing some of the voter fraud with taxpayers money. You who fight lawsuits or legislation which would stop or reduce this voter fraud, again using the taxpayer funds.

And you, the "Opposition" You Republicans, What are you doing to stop this? How are you preventing these crimes?  How is it that there has not been an impeachment? How is it that the charges have not been laid and trials convened? How is it that your fellows are not jailed? Are you as weak as it appears? Or are you complicit in these crimes?

You fail to follow the Constitution, fail to even pretend to honor your oaths. You have broken your oath of office so many times we expect it, we expect you to be liars, cheaters, and thieves. You have not disappointed us in that respect.

You swore an oath to the People of this country, to follow the Constitution. Yet you use it as a rag, waving it when you feel the need, holding it as a shield to further your goals, yet wiping the floor with it when it becomes an impediment to your aims.

You Sirs and Madams, should be tried for treason. All of you. For the violation of your oaths, and for your violation of our laws. For your failures to the American people and to the Constitution.

You disgust me. Much in the same way as I hold the "Press" in disgust. Yet you disgust me even more. They never swore an oath. You did. You too have become a cancer in the body of this country. You have become a disease. A tumor. A festering pustulence which leaches off the very body it claims to serve.

All of you deserve trials and no doubt imprisonment, if not worse. You should all be tried for treason. The evidence is clear.

Tired....and angry. Part 1

Ya know, I am tired and angry:

I am tired of the news media. Tired of their shilling for one liberal viewpoint or another under the pretense of "news".

Tired of agenda driven "news".

I am tired of the total lack of any pretense of impartiality, non-partisanship, or objectivity.

You fail to report on things like voter fraud,

Fast and Furious,

"Crony Capitalism",

The injustices done at the "Justice" Department.

You attempt to influence public opinion, at the expense of the truth, all so you can push and enable your liberal agenda.

You make excuses for the "entitlement class" and scream loudly if they do not get all that they want, much more than they deserve. You decry racism, yet you practice it daily, denigrating a white victim (if you even bother to report their race) while shielding the races of the criminals, unless they too happen to be white. You make excuses for the other races, as if they were lesser, or as if their poor behavior was to be expected, yet you  pretend to believe in equality, when it suits your needs.

You stand upon the Constitution, and cry for freedom of the press, yet you excuse the trampling of the Constitution when it suits you needs or fits your agenda.

You disgust me. You, the "Press", once a respected institution of truth who brought to light excesses and overstepping of government and private business alike, who were once respected guardians of our nation, our Constitution and our way of life, have become something else. Something disgusting, and slimy, and cheap.

You have become a cancer, a pustule, a detriment to the Country and it's citizens. You have become a Disease, a leech, a poison to this country and our way of life. You are a poison to that which made this country great.

Anyone want to bet?

I'll be that very soon, as the "gun control" legislation begins to shape up and take form, there will be another shooting. Likely including children (or maybe nuns and orphans) in order to push the legislation. Possibly a public shooting. It will, of course, use an AR-15 based firearm, most likely a "Bushmaster".

If not then, then shortly before the bill comes to a vote.

Betcha.

Strange these coincidences.

Go

Go HERE and watch the video.

Then pass it along to to others especially to those you know......, especially military, National Guard, and your local Sheriff and/or police department members.

Make them understand that this is a line you will Not Allow them to Cross. Make them understand that you don't wish for them to be your enemy..... But that it can happen, and that the consequences of that will not be good for anyone.

Politely suggest that they decide soon where their line is. While they have the time to do so.

Looks like that law is unenforceable

The Magazine Capacity limitation is now essentially unenforceable in Wash D.C.

Because David Gregory.

Not a chance that anyone else will be prosecuted..Unless they actually USE the magazine. Mere possession will no longer be prosecutable.

And if the police decide to try, all the defense attorney has to do is ask the judge if the law applies equally to everybody. Then show this video. Ask why they are there in court.

Case closed.

Just a thought

Now might be a good time to start collecting short pieces of steel tubing (say, 20"-30"), nuts, bolts and other scrap steel. Maybe toss in some scrap aluminum and brass too, maybe some copper....just to make things fun.

So when you bury that PVC tube, you can "salt" the surrounding area with enough false positives that it'll make the job more difficult.

Just sayin'.

I wonder

You gotta ask yourself, what ELSE is the current administration planning to do to us while we are all up in arms about the gun control thing?

Seriously. While we are all paying attention to the gun control boogeyman, what other mischief is the rat bastard  weasel  President and his henchmen doing when we aren't paying attention?

Enquiring minds and all that.

INteresting....

So I called the local plumbing supply store which I do business with for my business yesterday, looking for some specific parts .

While I had them on the phone, I enquired as to the price of 10" schedule 40 PVC and some other items...end caps and cleanouts for a..... err... project I have coming up.

He knows me, and laughed out loud.

"We should raise the price on 8" and 10" PVC pipe and such... It's going like hotcakes".

He told me that their sales of those two pipe sizes have increased greatly, and it is the "Harry homeowner" type guy who is buying it, not the guys who would "normally" need it for drains and such.

Interesting, innit?

Yep

Exactly like this.

'cause most people (non gun owners) have no idea as to how much regulation there is on guns. Especially NFA items.

And after all, more people are killed by automobiles than guns every year.

Car control

You know you want one

Really, you do.

Thought for the year:

"LifeTip: If someone’s accomplishments make you feel small, there’s two things you can do. You can get mad and angry about it and let it make you feel really insecure OR you can use it as a challenge and inspiration to do something yourself and step your own game up and start telling a better story yourself. I recommend the second option (after all, that’s why I started everything I’m doing)."

Back story HERE

Part two HERE.

You really should read it.

It occurs to me....

That if everyone who purchased an AR style rifle or a "high capacity magazine" for either a pistol or a rifle in the last year bothered to call their senators and congressmen, the gun control legislation would never, ever, come to the floor.

So call.

Be heard.

Now she knows what's in it

Obamacare prevents any gun registration.

Amendment 3276, section 2716, part C. supposedly says that there cannot be any collection of "information relating to the lawful possession of a firearm or ammunition".

So until the Senate and house change the law, registration is, for now, illegal.

This doesn't, of course, prevent confiscation or limitations on magazine capacity, nor making guns with certain features illegal.

Via Breitbart, HotAir and CNN.

Remember

When the government decides to make you a criminal:

"Fear makes the wolf look bigger"

Have you taken the time?

If you are a regular reader here, you are likely a Second Amendment supporter.

You likely own more than 1 firearm, and you likely shoot more than once or twice a year.

So if you haven't, it is time to get off your ass and make sure that your senator and representative knows where you stand. Yeah, I know you told him/her last year, and the year before that, but you need to tell them again. They may be new also. They have really really short memories. They live by polls, and if the pollsters (with an agenda) tell them that the majority of their constituents want more gun control, then that is how they are gonna vote. Tell 'em otherwise.

Take the time to tell them what YOU think. If enough of us bother then they get a real view of their constituents needs and wants and desires. They understand that people who bother to call or email or fax (don't do a snail-mail, it'll take too much time getting to them after being inspected for anthrax and all that) your views. If you write an email or send a fax, be firm, but polite. Be clear. Be single issue (it seems to be all that they can understand). If you call, be polite to the staffer who answers the phone. Clearly state your opposition to any further gun control laws. Be respectful.

Remind them that you vote and that you will actively work for or against the Senator's/Representative's reelection depending on how they vote.

You can find your congresscritters HERE.

If the continued exercise of your Second Amendment rights is important to you, then get off your butt and make sure the folks sent to DC to represent you know your views.

If you don't then they'll guess. Likely incorrectly.

Don't make 'em guess.

Tell 'em.

fuck you, General:

“I spent a career carrying typically either an M16 or an M4 Carbine. An M4 Carbine fires a .223 caliber round which is 5.56 mm at about 3000 feet per second. When it hits a human body, the effects are devastating. It’s designed for that,” McChrystal explained. “That’s what our soldiers ought to carry. I personally don’t think there’s any need for that kind of weaponry on the streets and particularly around the schools in America.”

Perhaps he was misquoted.

But at this point, were his teeth on fire, I'd not unzip to put them out.

Ya know

While I feel sorry for Gabby Giffords, who didn't deserve to be shot in the head,

The fact is that the proposals put forth would not have stopped Jared Laughner from being able to purchase the firearm he used in her shooting.

BECAUSE HE WAS NEVER REPORTED AS INSANE BY THE AUTHORITIES despite many chances to do so.

"I bought a gun at Walmart recently and I went through a background check. It's not a difficult thing to do," Kelly said. "Why can't we just do that and make it more difficult for criminals and the mentally ill to get guns?"

Maybe if the police and sheriff had done their jobs with reporting Laughner, you might not be wanting to  restrict my rights...and your wife would not be damaged.

I lost all respect for her and Mark Kelley, her husband, for allowing themselves to be used as tools by the gun banners. And for their alloing themselves to be used by the "Americans for Responsible Solutions" group which wants "common sense solutions".

Again, what is/are "common sense solutions"? Give us  even one solution that does not infringe on my rights, or the rights of other law abiding citizens to own and use our firearms. One solution which would have stopped even one of the crimes you hold up as reasons to restrict my rights. One solution which would have saved a single victim.

Just one.

Or you are lying to yourself as well as the rest of us.

My firearms didn't kill anyone today...nor yesterday, nor lat week, nor last year.

But you want to disarm me anyway, and I think it is for other reasons.

Getcher tinfoil hat right here!

But isn't it interesting that just as the public begins to forget the Sandy Hook shooting, that the media is not blasting all sorts of info about the Aurora, Colorado shooter all fully up to speed on the dangers of guns and all that.

Interesting....Innit?

Someone who was ...er...suspicious and who sees conspiracies in everything might be wondering if that is the case here. That the message is being massaged to keep the sheep people enraged so as to push opinion in the "right" direction.

Thoughts:

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."

Thomas Paine

It matters not at all where the plunderer comes from. It matters not at all if he is an invader or a countryman.

So how many of you

have found that you really really wish that you'd bought more ammo? Bought that rifle you were thinking about buying. Wish that you had purchased that first AR or AK 6 months ago? How many thought you had time then, but ran out of time.

Me, I can always use more, but I am stocked well enough.

Hope ya "bought it cheap and stacked it deep" . Hope you have the tools you need, if and when.

'Cause I was told that the pipelines are empty. What is left is what there is. Demand has so totally outstripped supply that there will not be significant amounts of .22lr, .223/5.56, .307/7.62 etc for
months. Likely months on pistol ammo too. Imported ammo may never return if a gun bill gets passed. Rifles and pistols may not be available for months, if then. Even without a ban.

Scary, ain't it?

Hope yer stocked.

I WAS planning on buying a Mosin, but at $300 instead of $99, I think I may pass. Bummer.

Because they are the "only ones"

Only police should have guns, right?
Becuse they are trained and honest and can be trusted. Much more so than the rest of us...right?

Right?

(This is not a slam on the police. Rather it is to expose the fallacy that police are somehow, because of training and testing and a badge, are supposed to be more honest and trustworthy than Joe/Jane Average Citizen.)

depends on what yer hunting, doesn't it?

Friend of mine just bought an old rifle. 30-06 caliber. The rifle is 30 years or so old, and in beautiful shape.

So I asked him how he liked his new "sniper rifle".

He replied it is a "hunting rifle".

I tactfully pointed out that it depends on your point of view....and really, it depends on exactly what you are hunting....

He was not amused.

Question:

What, exactly, is a "fair share"? Lets discuss this.

The DNC and liberals and Barry have all complained that the "rich" need to  "pay their fair share".

So what, exactly do they mean? How much is "fair"?
Any amount they earn over, say, $250K?
50% of their pay?
80% of anything over $1M?

Really, lets define it. Just so we can talk about it. 'Cause you haven't defined it well.

Anything else is just demagoguery.

You know this is gonna come up again in a few months when we hit the debt ceiling again.

You do realize that you just got a 2% pay cut, right?

Instead of paying 4.2% for Social Security, you are now paying 6.2% of your pay to the SS ponzi scheme. If you are under 55, you'll likely never see a dime of any of your contributions. You'd have been better off if you had put that money in a savings account than given it to the government to hold for you.

Don't believe me? Look it up.

If you make $50K a year, you just lost 83.33 bucks a month. That's a lot of ammo. Or beer. Or food. Or a good chunk of a car payment.

But the government will spend it more wisely than you would have.

Catching pigs...A parable

Via my brother, who is becoming ever more conservative as he grows up:

Thought provoking and interesting:

CATCHING PIGS:
There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class.
One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter.
The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back.
He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime.
In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.
He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.
The young man said that it was no joke.
"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the
woods and putting corn on the ground.
The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn.
"When they are used to coming every day,
you put a fence down one side of the place where they
are used to coming. They, at first, find the fence disturbing...But, since they like the corn, and they are hungry, they stay, and eat... When they get used to the fence,
they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another
side of the fence. They find this disturbing too, but since they like the corn, and they are hungry
They get used to that and start to eat again. Then you put up a third side...again, they don't like it, but since they are used to the corn, they come back and eat the free corn again, ignoring the fence... You continue
until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate
in the last side.
"The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come
through the gate to eat that free corn again. It takes them a while to settle down, but eventually, because they like the corn and they are used to getting it, they relax and all come in through the gate. You then
slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom.
They run around and around inside the fence,
but they are caught.
Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are
so used to it that they
have forgotten how to forage in the woods for
themselves, so they accept their captivity."
The young man then told the professor that is
exactly what he sees happening in America .
The government keeps pushing us toward
Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the
free corn out in the form of programs such as
supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income,
tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies,
payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine,
drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just
a little at a time.

One should always remember two truths:
There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper
than you can do it yourself.

Can you disagree?

Thanks, Bro.

So I see....

That the good citizens on the left east coast are upset because the congress is choosing not to fund additional aid to the recovery from the hurricane superstorm Sandy.

Boo fucking hoo. Yeah, I am cruel. And heartless. And mean.
And I hate white people...or something.

Why should there be ANY aid? They choose to live on a coast. Many of them on barrier islands. Many (most) chose to live without flood insurance. A significant number, we find out, had little or no insurance at all. Chose to not buy insurance, because it "was too expensive"..... While they lived on what was, effectively, a sandbar. Now they want the consequences of their decisions to be painless. Nope. Shouldn't be. Stupid should hurt.

We, as a country, SHOULD help those who are hurt by natural disasters. Temporary housing? Yeah, all for it. Food and medical care? No issue, until they have a chance to get back on their feet (but this should be time limited). But grants to rebuild? Nope. Low interest loans (how much lower than 2% do they want?) Nope.

Failure to prepare for things which can happen is not my fault, nor yours. Failure to purchase decent insurance means that you are willing to gamble that something WON'T happen. Lady luck has a way of ...well. not being nice.

We, as a country, should not have rebuilt the areas damaged by Katrina or any of the other hurricanes. People choose to live in these areas. They choose to build or buy homes that have wonderful views and are close to the water. But this choice of location comes at a price.

Likewise, we shouldn't rebuild homes that are damaged by floods from swollen rivers, not homes burnt by wildfires.

Don't want your home flooded or burnt? Live in an area where these things DON'T happen often. Don't live near a coast unless you are willing to deal with the aftermath of a Hurricane.

Should you choose to do so, then expect to have to deal with the potential consequences of the natural disasters which are likely to happen in your area. Buy enough insurance. Expect that these things will happen. If you live less than 10 feet above flood level, or on the beach, expect floods. Build your home accordingly. If your home was  once a summer cottage 50 years ago, think why it was a summer cottage and not built as a full time dwelling.

Don't expect me to help you rebuild your home in the same area where the same disaster is likely.

I live in NW Indiana. The chances of a hurricane are low here. Same with wildfires. Same with floods. I live in an area which is VERY unlikely to flood.  I do have insurance, and pay extra for the flood rider, and for the earthquake rider. (Murphy lives in my back pocket, so I expect Bad Things to happen....and plan accordingly) The chances of either happening are low and therefore the cost of the additional insurance is low. If the cost of either for your home is higher, then the risk is as well. Tough. Pay for the insurance, or take the risk....or choose to live elsewhere.

But don't expect me to help you rebuild. Or my fellow citizens either.

Especially not when your Senators care so little about you that they choose to pad the aid bill to fund a bunch of pork projects.

The more think

THis whole budget thing, the more I feel that the country as a whole would have been better off had we actually gone over the "Fiscal Cliff".

While we would have had the tax increases, we would have at least gotten the spending cuts as well.

As it is, we got screwed.

ayup

What he said.

ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE

Lipstick on a pig

And: Breaking News: Your congressmen and senators are liars.

Also: Water is wet.

These assholes can't even keep to the agreements they make amongst themselves.

No real spending cuts.
Not much of a deal on taxes.

They just kicked the can on down the road.

Bastards.
Now it is the issue for the next congress.

And they really haven't fixed anything. $1 in spending cuts for every $41 in tax increases. Why bother?

More uncertainty  in the markets.

More fear in the economy. (which isn't gonna help create new jobs, nor will it make it any easier for businesses to find loans to grow).

Your government has done nothing for you. Hasn't fixed any of the issues they promised they would by the end of the year.

Better the "Fiscal Cliff"than this. More of the same won't cut it.

Sometimes I think Clancy had a good idea.

Something to think about all throughout the next year:

"
Liberty, once lost, is lost forever"
John Adams.

Think about it.

Happy New Year

to each and every one of you.

May 2013 be better in every way than 2012.
