So, today, in 1992

The Weavers surrendered.

10 days of standoff, countless man hours, hundreds of thousands of dollars....wasted.

All because of a lie perpetrated by the ATF......

Harris was acquitted of all charges.

Weaver was charged with failure to appear (remember, his appearance letter stated the wrong date) and fined $10,000 (the feds had to save some face, right?)

The weavers later sued, and then settled for wrongful death of Vicki Weaver and Sammi Weaver. The settlement was $100,000 for Randy and $1,000,000 for each of his three daughters.

But Sammi and Vicki are still dead.
I met Randy about 10 or 12 years ago.....He is a broken man. Damaged beyond the ability to heal. I feel for him. All the money in the world won't fix his loss.....But a chance at those agents might.....

Lon Horiuchi was indcticted for Manslaughter, but the Feds claimed Sovereign Immunity... He went free and later, the charges were dropped even though the Ninth Circuit reversed the claim of sovereign Immunity.........No other Federal Agents were charged...nor, as far as any evidence shows, were any of the FBI, the Marshalls Service, nor the ATF agents even demoted or in any way punished for the lies, or mismanagement that led up to this incident. Some were even promoted.

Trust your government. Really..

Next time it might be you.....

"the idea of a union without borders inside, also needs a functional border control at the external borders"

THe Europeans are just now figuring this out...

Since the Dems/Liberals seem to follow the Euros (for some reason they worship the Europeans style of governing and such.....) does this mean that WE will finally get a more secure border?

Austria threatens tighter border controls unless EU tackles migrant crisis....

I'd sue for the interest.....

and add penalties for non-payment. Then sue for interest on the penalties....just like the State and Fed IRS does...

Lottery winners aren't paid in Illinois because of budget issues....

One would think that the Lottery would be funded properly....but apparently, like the rest of the state's finances, it is a giant Ponzi scheme....

So...

back in 1992, on this day,,, with the aid of some CIVILIAN negotiators, Kevin Harris surrendered. He would later be acquitted of all charges.

If you've been paying attention to these posting, you'll have a timeline.

Think about it. It could be you next time.

Sommat to think about

.

Who is gonna do it next time:

Certainly not the Euros....

HERE.

My Grandfather always said that the US succeeded and would grow and be strong, while Europe would stagnate and die because all of the really adventurous, smart, strong individuals (and their genes) moved to the US, leaving the weak sisters behind.....

Making plans for the weekend?

Please remember to misbehave responsively.

Stirrin' the pot again:

So they are still using Katrina to show how whites were the cause of the Black suffering in the days and weeks after Katrina.......Just because they didn't want a bunch of people wandering about their town.....refugees. Kinda hard to tell the simply unfortunate from the criminals though....So they blocked the roads and helped them get shipped to shelters. But because the refugees weren't allowed to wander the town and weren't welcomed with care packages and such,.....it must have been because of race....

But that is racist. In a town that is 40% white and 40% black.....A well to do town didn't want apparent ner-do-wells to invade their town.

Racists, every damned one of them.

Why bring this up 10 years later (and not so coincidentally, a year before an election) if not to stir the poor blacks up (again)? ?

(BTW, read the comments)

And they don't even know where/how He got his gun...

But somehow, these people have already got a plan to use this tragedy to push new gun legislation nearly instantly....One wonders if they knew it was gonna happen....

White House/Klinton make gun control push just hours after Virginia murders

DO they ahve plans waiting in a drawer just so they can "Never let a crisis go to waste"?

Realizing their mistake:

On this date, 1992. Someone at the FBI got smart enough to realize that the news had gone out and that the media and people were watching.

The rules of engagement that had been put into effect on or about 8/22 for the Snipers HRT members were changed from:

If any adult male is observed with a weapon prior to the announcement, deadly force can and
should be employed, if the shot can be taken without endangering any children.

If any adult in the compound is observed with a weapon after the surrender announcement is
made, and is not attempting to surrender, deadly force can and should be employed to neutralize
     the individual.

If compromised by any animal, particularly the dogs, that animal should be eliminated.

Back to the "normal" rules of engagement:

"Agents are not to use deadly force against any person except as necessary in self-defense or the
defense of another, when they have reason to believe they or another are in danger of death or
grievous bodily harm. Whenever feasible, verbal warning should be given before deadly force is
      applied."

that were standard ROE for all other engagements....

Funny how scrutiny changes things....innit?

Trust yer government, remember?

Was up on the hill last night

And there, in amongst the trees I have planted over the earthly remains of my pets, I was reminded of the words of Kipling.....it applies to cats too sometimes......

“The Power of the Dog”

THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it’s your own affair—
But … you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Hug your pets today....

I give no credence

To the Rumors that Lois Lerner's secret email accounts were on Hillary's illegal email server.

None at all.

Notes from Ruby Ridge:

On this day, in 1992, FBI Deputy Assistant Director Danny Coulson wrote a memo:

OPR 004477
Something to Consider
1. Charge against Weaver is Bull Shit.
2. No one saw Weaver do any shooting.
3. Vicki has no charges against her.
4. Weaver's defense. He ran down the hill to see what dog was
barking at. Some guys in camys shot his dog.
Started shooting at him. Killed his son. Harris did the
shooting [of Degan]. He [Weaver] is in pretty strong legal position."
(cite: Wikipedia.com)

But he didn't get anyone to listen to him, so the siege continued.......

So apparently, the French have no balls....

They, instead, rely on foreigners to do the dirty work of saving their asses.....

U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, their friend Anthony Sadler and Briton Chris Norman were presented with the Legion d'Honneur at the Elysee Palace in Paris.

So it took 3 Americans and one Briton to disarm the dude, while all the French fled in terror?

Seriously? 3 men, foreigners, saved the bacon of all the other passengers? I'm proud that 3 out of 4 were my countrymen, but saddened that the French apparently couldn't react enough to do it themselves....

ETA: Apparently I am wrong....at least one Frenchman took action.

Is there any way

To make the annoying and persistent pop-up for Windows 10 go away?

I'm not so sure I want to "upgrade" from Windows 7 on this machine. I tried it on a (really cheap) Windows 8 machine and found that it slowed things down drastically...not so sure I want to do that to my main machine.

1992... The beginning:

23 years ago, the incident in which many many people learned of the perfidy and callousness of the ATF, US Marshals service and the FBI (especially the Hostage Rescue Team)...and how they would lie, cheat, bribe and blackmail people to do their bidding....and lie, cheat and cover up and shift blame when they were found out.

Yep, I am talking about the Ruby Ridge incident with Randy Weaver.

This is the incident that showcased the incompetence of the US Marshals service...How they played "Operator" and bumbled in nearly every aspect of their investigation....all while costing the US Taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars BEFORE the incident at Ruby Ridge..

This is the incident where we learned about  FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi,...and his (ahem) Marksmanship....Wherein his name became an epithet after he killed Vicki Weaver under hastily modified Rules of Engagement for the HRT team....essentially an order to kill any of the Weaver party on sight.

It was this incident which highlighted the failures of management of the FBI, the ATF, the US Marshals service, and relative un-accountability of the agents employed in those agencies...and the behavior that one would expect of some men with a great deal of authority and essentially zero oversight or accountability.....and the desire to protect their fellow agents and never question their allegations....No one in any of those agencies was punished for their role in this asinine incident......one that began on lies, escalated because of a cover up and incompetence, and resulted in deaths of members of the Weaver party and a US Marshall....... FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi was protected by his agency (see manslaughter charge section) and essentially allowed to go free after committing murder.....

If you take the time to learn the facts (and the Wikipedia article has it fairly straight), you can understand why our founding fathers warned us against governments.....and why they put the First Amendment  first (so we could show, talk about, and explain what the government is doing) and gave us the Second Amendment (so we could fight back and protect the First).

It is said that this was the first of several incidents that gave rise to the "Militia" movement (and a great deal of mistrust of the government).... Perhaps it is. But had this incident not happened, the agencies involved would have had ample opportunity to find other ways to step in it not too far in the future......

Perhaps you might want to save a copy

and/or print off a copy or two..

The DIY Sten Gun.

Mayhaps this winter I might try my hand.....

Anyone ever tried one?

But we will have a replacement for you in 1 business day!

Except sometimes, not.

1 CC machine dead in storm on Tuesday evening. Check

Called them that night. Gotta wait until the AM to order a replacement. Check.

Wed AM, order replacement. Should arrive FedEx Thursday early morning deliver. Nope.

Not in the AM, not at noon, not by three. No tracking number available either.

This is getting serious

It is bad enough when the job interferes with my drinking. (I mean, it is an issue, but it does help keep me out of trouble)...

But now, things are so chaotic and messed up that it is interfering with my SHOOTING....

Something hasta give. And soon.

I'd quit, but I own my own business, so I am kinda stuck.....

I really should go shooting when I am this fatigued.....might have to for real someday.

Not that I could shoot well....I'm so jazzed on coffee that I am about to start to hear colors.

Another icon from my youth has passed

Batgirl, has passed.

Bummer.

I feel older .

Talent...Pure fuckin' talent

Watch THIS

Please put the drink down first. clear your desk of any spillable liquids. Maybe breakables too....

Saturday, August 15, 2015

Luckily, no one was seriously injured

So I have this backhoe....

Actually, I have a Chinese made attachment backhoe that fits on the three point hitch of my Kubota tractor....

It is a pretty good backhoe. Digs well, and has enough digging force to move the tractor even with the stabilizers down sometimes. Nice unit for small jobs.

38 HP tractor. PTO driven Hydraulic pump.

Gearbox on the hydraulic pump seizes. Hilarity ensues. Parts flying like a small detonation had happened. Chains and brackets and bolt heads and other pieces flew with abandon and gusto.

No one was hurt. Chains did break, and pieces of metal were thrown about but they hit exactly no one who was watching me dig the trench. Those guards and shields that always get in the way actually have a purpose....

But they all moved back fairly rapidly.

Now I gotta contact the company and get them to send me a replacement.

No electric install for the range in the meantime. None of the other projects that I have waiting will happen either.

ETA: Now I gotta figure out how to disconnect the damned thing from the tractor......No hydraulics is gonna make things interesting......

And to the other brother

Hey, Little Bro....Happy Birthday to YOU this time....

Yer gettin' up there too...

Why

Why isn't Hillary Clinton under arrest right now....or at least under indictment.....She wiped her server hard drive clean.
 Isn't that suppression of evidence?

Were you or I in the same position, we'd be looking out through bars.

Why isn't she?

Kinda dusty in here:

Dog gets to play in snow one last time before dying.

Lots of folks made that happen.

Story with video HERE. Mind the dust.

I know when Schmoo was coming up to her time, we did everything we could to make her happy. But nothing like this....

Damn, I miss my dog.

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Whoa:

Just WTF blew up there in China?

I mean, really, that is a shitload of damage....and that is't a small explosion. The velocity must have been HUGE. Likely more than a natural gas explosion. That was some serious detonation speed. And BIG.

Pic link found at the Feral Irishman

Happy Birthday, Bro

Yer coming up on the half century mark there...

Yeah, I know it is racist and culturally insensitive.

But, really, I don't give a flying fuck.

SO Hillary is finally coughing up the email server

After how many months? Apparently they have had time to vacuum all the incriminating emails from said server.

This is a joke. Why even bother? You know, and I know, even if we can't prove it, that the delay was to giver her IT people time to clean everything that was incriminating from that server.

If I shoot someone, do I get months to buy a replacement barrel, change the firing pin and sand the bolt face so that there aren't any marks to match with the case and bullet found at the scene of the crime?

If I am in an accident, do I get time to go to a body shop and have the damaged body panels replaced and the car painted?

Seriously.

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Well, now....

Izzn't this INTERESTING?

I dunno if it is true, couldn't find the page at the paper.

Draw yer own conclusions.

I just signed up

For the Crimson Trace  250 Gunsite Pistol Course.

You should too. Especially since if you enter you increase my chances.

Please help send me....

Buddy Baker passed

A true Nascar legend. He was 74.

Somewhere I have his autograph....Really nice guy. A true southern Gentleman. Class act.

Hey, it's her money

But damn, some people get a jackpot and then are really really stupid how they use it.

$88 MILLION. ($88,000,000)....all taxes paid. And she has blown more than 10% bailing her boyfriend out on drug and weapons charges. Bailing him out....He's still likely gonna go to jail. Hope his (ahem) companionship for the next few months is worth it. Bet she is surprised when they take him away after court.....or when he bails on her leaving her to pay the rest.

Here she gets a chance at wealth that few of us can do more than dream about......and blows a significant portion on a lowlife boyfriend.

Just goes to show, culture and all that.....

Shook him up, I did....

So today, I am taking the weekend's cash to the bank, and other errands, and the traffic on the road to the bank is stopped......I waited, and then shut off the truck and walked forward 10 or so cars to see why...

Seems a tree limb had fallen across the road. Not from a storm or anything, but had simply broken and fallen. The road was blocked and a police officer was there. (Branch was about 15" in diameter, and held on by a piece of wood about 6" wide and about an inch thick.).

The officer told me that it would be about 20-30 minutes until they could get someone there with a chainsaw to remove the branch (It isn't that big of a town, dunno why it should take that long...and this is the main street of the town).

I walked back to the truck, opened the tailgate and pulled out the old double bit axe I carry on one side of the bed (the other side has a short handled shovel) and walked back to the downed limb. As I went, I asked several other drivers (male) to come and help me with the branch.

4 strikes and the branch was free. 6 guys, including me, picked up the branch and more or less dragged it onto the grass. Road open. No need for a chainsaw. No waiting either.

The cop, (who watched the whole thing without saying anything) then asked me if I always carried an axe in my truck.

"Doesn't everybody?" I replied

The look on his face was priceless.

I got back into the truck and drove to the bank.

He watched me carefully as I drove by. I think he was disturbed by my answer.....

So today

When everyone says something about how terrible it was that the Atomic Bombing happened at Hiroshima 70 years ago....and analyzes it from the benefit of hindsight....

Think about THIS.

And THIS

You cant change the past of 70 years ago. Nothing will change it or fix it.

War is war. Damage the enemy faster than he damages you in order to remove his will to, and ability to, fight.

We did that.

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Yeah, I'm burnt out

Too tired to brain.

I got nuthin'.

Go read the folks on the left.

Maybe later.

Monday, August 3, 2015

Gaahh

Spent the days off (weekend) making gasoline powered equipment run (most of it hadn't run in 7-10 years) in order that it can fetch a decent price at an auction of some old folks property....They are both in nursing homes, so the stuff they will never use again is to be sold at auction to help their finances...

I may NEVER use gasoline powered equipment without adding either Stabil or Pri-G in every tank...At least then my stuff will start when it is time for someone to sell my shit.... God, I hate the smell of old stale gas. But I got all but one piece running. Should be worth about $10K more now....

Spent today playing catch up at work  I may well fire someone that work(s)(ed?) for me for being an idiot.

And I was reminded that I had promised to bury some drainage tile at the range tomorrow....which I had planned as a half day off in order that I could sight-in and function test the Non-Ruger 10-22. I'd blow it off but there are 10 other people coming....Shit.,,,,Maybe sometime  *next* Sunday I can actually go to the range and shoot......

And I got a huge oak down due to wind in the back yard..... Anyone in NW Indiana need about 6-8 ton of firewood? You cut it, you haul it, I make you good deal. Really really really good deal. Might even help you load it. I already have enough firewood from last year that I won't use the new stuff before it rots.....

2 July:

About the time you are reading this, the men of the Indianapolis had just been SEEN. Not yet rescued....But seen. Rescue operations are just now getting underway.

Think about that ordeal.
