Maine is mean

They want people to use food stamps for.....Food.

How rude. How mean, depriving people of empty calories instead of nutrition.

Unhealthy food is a right!

It is time for much purchasing

and many of you may well do it online. Christmas is coming.

If you buy things via Amazon, PLEASE do so via the links on the left column of my page.

It costs you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, but if you click through that link there on the left and then log in and buy, I earn a small commission. (or click HERE)

Help me feed my guns.

For those of you who do so already, thank you.

The arabs see it....

Why can't the rest of the world see the truth?

These wealthy Gulf nations argue that accepting large numbers of Syrian refugees is a serious threat to the safety of its citizens because terrorists could hide themselves among civilians.

Not to mention that these radical Wahabbis are the direct result of the funding and propaganda campaigns of the same wealthy gulf states.....

I DO think that these people need help....and I really do think that we, as a nation, should help. But not at the cost of our men and women in the military, and not at the cost of our security here in our nation's borders.

Nowhere is there anything written that we have to allow unchecked migration to our country. No one (barrring US citizens), anywhere in the world, has a right to come here and reside in side our borders.

So only some lives

are worth protesting when they are ended:

Here we have two black children:

Both live in Chicago.

One, Tyshawn Lee, a 9 year old boy, killed by a black man who was a rival gang member to his father. (which everyone in the community knew, just waited for the police to make an arrest....)

The other, 17 year old Laquan McDonald killed by a white police officer.

Now, Tyshawn (the 9 year old) was doing nothing, was killed because of who his father was. Shot 7 times. Executed for revenge against his daddy.

Laquan (the 17 year old) was high on PCP, vandalizing cars, and was carrying a knife in his hand when confronted by officers. refused to drop the knife, and was shot 16 times.

Protests for Laquan. Marches and vigils. 'Cause white cop. (and excessive force, perhaps)

No protests for Tyshawn. Black man killed him, so he Don't Matter

Odd that.

The only thing I can figure is that there are racist double standards in the black community. White police officers don't get a pass, but black gang members do....

I hope

That you are celebrating Thanksgiving with people you care about, be that friends, or family or a combination of both. May you continue whatever traditions you have in the comfort of those you love.

Take the time to reflect, and give thanks for what you have. I have much to be thankful for, I hope you do as well.

Raise a glass to those who can't be with friends and family because they are standing a post somewhere less comfortable than where you are.

I will.

Interesting

'twas pointed out to me that the (mostly not black and mostly well educated, not street people) reporters following the (mostly black and mostly not well educated)) protesters of Laquan McDonalds  (he wasn't a choirboy, BTW) death a year ago are surprised by their civility and by their just plain good behavior and politeness.....Much in the way that they are surprised when a scary looking pit bulldog turns out to be a nice, cuddly pet.

Good doggie.

I think it is funny. Sad, but funny.

Except, of course, political donations

So the IRS wants the Social Security Numbers of anyone donating to a Not for Profit organization (501-C-).......

Except, of course for Political action groups that could influence the elections......(Wonder why they exempted those??????)

This is, I feel, an invasion of privacy, as no one needs to know who I support. It could, in fact, be used as retribution against citizens who don't toe the party line, or whose views are not deemed correct by the current administration.

Lois Lerner has already done it, on a small scale, How would you like to have your donation to any non approved cause used to trigger an IRS audit, or other scrutiny?

Contact your Senators, tell 'em to reign in the IRS. Or your contributions to worthwhile causes will, at some point, be used against you.
Plan on it.

Fences work

At least in Turkey:

US working with Turkey to cut off ISIS border smuggling route...

With a fence.

But we can't have on on our southern border because "They won't work".....

Bastards. Lying Cheating Bastards.

Remember this date.....

Sadly, Barry was nowhere near Dallas today....

Interesting viewpoint:

So teaching at another NRA First Steps course I overheard:

"Yeah, last time we let a bunch of muslims in the country in such large numbers that we couldn't keep track of them we had 9-11.......Letting in a half million "refugees" from Syria or wherever sounds like the same thing to me.....".

14 new shooters in the world.  14 "New Shooter Smiles".

Payin' it forward.

At the range last night:

"Dude, I shot a 20 lb turkey yesterday.

Easy shot, it was just sitting there!,

Wow, I gotta say, a .50 cal muzzleloader sure is loud in the frozen food section of the Supermarket though...."

Bobby ain't right...

Just luck

that they were caught.

Wonder what they had in mind? Who were they planning on meeting here in the US? What deviltry did they have in mind??? Perhaps they just wanted some freebies....

At least they were smart enough to try and come the easy way.....across the Mexican border.

Never, ever,

Let a crisis go to waste.

EU Commission uses crisis of Paris Terrorist attacks to further tighten private gun ownership laws to keep the citizens safe.

(Full text HERE)

'Cause the terrorists will get their guns legally.....and it is so difficult , apparently, to get a full auto Kalishnikov in Europe....

And we all know Islamic terrorists follow the laws.......Right? Making it illegaler to possess such weapons will help keep those atrocities from happening, right?

How can you investigate someone when there is nothing to investigate?

Not just Syrians

"Round up the usual suspects"

So France, in an attempt to shut the stable door after the equine had bolted, apparently raided something like 75 assorted houses and compounds, seeking suspects in the terrorist attacks of Friday. Seems they found a "significant amount" of weapons and explosives.

Gotta  Do Something..., I get that.....More importantly, the police and other authorities gotta be SEEN Doing Something.

But here is the question: If they knew where to look, and had reasonable suspicion to execute a search (and were, apparently correct in their suspicions) then WHY DIDN'T THEY DEAL WITH THE ISSUE of the terrorist safe houses BEFORE the attack?  Why did they wait until AFTER some of their countrymen had been killed and injured? If they were raid worthy on Saturday or Monday, WHY WERENT THEY RAID WORTHY ON THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE ATTACKS?

Did their inaction result in increased casualties and deaths?

Twas true then.....

And I think it shall prove true today.

THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON
by Rudyard Kipling

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy -- willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

The French were a big part of the Crusades.....will they be again?

Pictures of what can happen when the populace is disarmed...

And someone decides to slaughter the sheep...(somewhat graphic, deal with it or don't click the link)

Remember, this is from the "religion of peace".

Not saying that one "good guy with a gun" could have stopped this slaughter....but then again, he (or she) could have possibly cut down on the number of victims...4 men did this atrocity. 1 man with a spare magazine could have suppressed their fire.

Most concert venues here in the US are "Gun free Zones" too.

So the word of the day on CBS

is "Radicalized".

Seems that we can blame whomever "Radicalized" these Frenchmen French Muslims who were part of the terror attack.

Why is it that it is only the Muslims that get "Radicalized"? It isn't the German Lutherans who go all Radical....isn't the Catholics, nor the Protestants nor the Buddists nor the Wicccans nor the Druids ...

What is it about the Muslim faith that lends itself to "Radicalization"?

Yes, I know it is a small percentage of Muslims that "radicalize". What percentage of a population is it acceptable wherein that percentage may go nuts and kill you? If 1% of dogs went nuts every year and attacked and killed people, we would have no dogs in this country....1/2% ? Is that acceptable? Maybe .001% of muslims  Can be Radicalized?? I dunno..

How many is too much of a danger?

Coming soon to a city near you

Yeah, so some folks might consider me racist for the below. I don't care. I don't want to see my fellow citizens slaughtered. And let us all face the truth. When we heard that there were coordinated attacks happening in Paris, we all thought "Followers of Muhammad". We all knew, with near 100% certainty that these were not Buddhists. We knew who it had to be, even if we wouldn't talk about it....

So there are approximately 100,000 "Refugees" coming to the US. HERE are the cities to which they will be distributed.

Not all, I am sure, are terrorists. But Paris though for sure NONE of their refugees would be terrorists either, and yet, some were, and they have at least 150 people dead because of that assumption.

How man of your friends and neighbors are you willing to sacrifice?

Why would we want to bring snakes into our midst?

Wonder how many of these "refugees" are horrified at the deaths of so many infidels? How many of these "refugees" decry the actions of the murderers in Paris?

Paris

I feel sorry for the folks in Paris. My prayers are with the families.  But they were a terribly easy target to attack (again).

Much of the talk last night in the venue where I was socializing was that it could be tried here, but looking at the crowd of 200+, there were (that I know of) at least 30 firearms, and we would be, at least, a much harder target. Hard to do much about Suicide Bombers, but bullets would seem to work well against gunmen.

This is true of nearly every state in the west and midwest (west coast states excluded, of course) and much of the south, but the East coast would be as soft a target as the unarmed French were.

One wonders if these attackers arrived in the recent wave of immigrants. For those who are truly seeking a better life, I hope not......I fear that the borders of the EU are going to close with a bang.

Remember today

"The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound"

Today, 40 years ago, The "witch of November" came early and claimed the ship and crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Interestingly enough, it was a P-3 Orion aircraft that found the wreck 4 days later....

Raise a glass to those that lost their lives 40 years ago.

And sometimes, Justice starts to happen:

These town Marshalls are held under $1,000,000 bail in the shooting death of that 6 year old boy in Louisiana....Charged with second degree Murder.

The father is still in the hospital.

Bodycam video purportedly shows the father, Chris Few, had his hands up when the Marshalls opened fire, killing his son, 6 year old Jeremy Mardis, in his car seat.

If true, then they should be jailed for life. As Murphy points out, cops have a bit more latitude because of their job. The other side of that is that they should be held to a higher standard of behavior and even harsher punishment for wrongdoing....

It will be interesting to see what the investigation brings....But I find it interesting that the State Police arrested them, and the local District Attorney wants no part of this case....

Sooo. I think things are gonna get SPORTY very soon...

Seems reports say Russia has pulled over 12,000 of it's citizens from Egypt in the past day, with another 24,000 to go...

When that is done, expect things to get ...interesting....for the folks that Russia thinks are responsible for the bombing of the civilian airliner...(Cough, ISIS,Cough)

Methinks that there will be a lesson taught, and a retribution paid....And I will give you 3:5 that Russian citizens are not targeted bu ISIS in this or the next generation.

Now if only the folks we have in charge of our countries response will take notes as to how to deal with people who indiscriminately kill our citizens....

I woke up feeling pretty good today

Then I got out of bed, and that went downhill...

Methinks I am not drinking enuff.

Thursday, November 5, 2015

If yer a cop, you can get away with shooting someone in the back...sometimes.

Now, the best way not to get shot by a cop is not to run from them, and not present a threat....

Comply with the officer's orders.

Usually that works.

Sometimes not. David Kassick apparently ran and that led, ultimately, to his demise...

I wasn't there, and I didn't see the whole thing and I wasn't on the jury that acquitted Officer Lisa Mearkle of murder.

From the piece of video I saw at THIS link, I don't think I could have acquitted her though.

I saw an officer shoot a man who, at that time, presented no threat. I heard her screaming and her orders were somewhat incoherent.

If that were you or me or any non-police gun owner, we'd have been tried for murder. And would be in prison for murder right now.

I'd like to hear the members of the Jury explain their decision. Perhaps they saw evidence that the rest of us didn't....

Holy shit!

In the last 24 hours, my oak trees shed about 80% of their leaves.

SO where are all the protestors

and the Black Live Matter folks...Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

I don't hear Barry Obama saying "If I had a Son, He'd look a lot like Tayshawn".

Why? Why aren't they here on the South Side of Chicago Protesting and rioting and looting to protest the brutal murder of 9 year old Tayshawn Lee?

Because he was killed on the South Side of Chicago....and because Daddy is a gang banger and he was likely killed in retaliation for something Daddy did...

And we can add to that question why they aren't protesting the killing of aspiring model Kaylin Pryor....a young girl who likely had found a way out of the hood.....Killed in a driveby in Englewood...

Chances are that the only race in these incidences is Black on Black...so the B.L.M. folks ignore it.

I guess only SOME black lives matter.

Range day!

Except it was a day of finishing the project of the burial of the new electric line that started almost 4 months ago. Likely the last decent day we have before spring for such escapades.

8 hours on a backhoe. (a small one).... dig 7 feet, move the tractor, dig 7 feet move the tractor, etc, etc, etc.

Plus since the range was built on filled ground, there are all sorts of treasures that one finds. Metal, stones, bigger stones, oddly shaped bigger stones, more twisted metal pieces, something unidentifiable, then some other shit I don't even want to know (I reburied it)....

The line is installed, and the outdoor range now has power for lights, and (eventually) the air compressor for the target turners that haven't worked in 3+ years....(since last time I fixed 'em....before the power went wonky about 2 + years ago).

I have spent more time at the range not shooting these past 6 months than I have spent shooting.

I also had to give lessons to the others helping:

1.. Only one person can give directions to the guy on the tractor/backhoe. One. Otherwise the operator does nothing.

II..Don't fuck around when giving directions. People get hurt that way.

C...MAKE SURE THE GUY OPERATING THE BACKHOE SEES YOU BEFORE ENTERING THE ARC OF THE BACKHOE SWING. Trust me, it is only 35 HP, but you will lose that battle.

It is still theft

Seems that the cops in New Haven are pre-emptively stealing items from cars and homes, to prove a point.

Theft, however, is still theft.

And a beating for stealing is still a beatdown for stealing. Cop or no, on duty or not.

IfYaKnowWhatIMean...

Wanna have some real fun with your roommate?

Run into the bathroom while they are in the shower....

Yell "Roomath!!!,Wallonthamgro! Welmanthing regondo!"

Then run out of the room. Scram when you are halfway down the hall...

It works even better if you are wearing goggles and holding a baseball bat....Maybe wearing a rain slicker.

Don't ask me how I know.

Interesting....and apparently legal

Seems that enterprising Saudi Arabian dairy farms are buying entire square miles of Arizona desert and are using the acreage (and the wells on those acres) to grow hay for export to farms overseas....

The thing is, they are drying up the aquifers because these areas have no restrictions on the usage of these wells....unlimited water. Which is why they bought those particular farms.

This sort of profligate use of water wells drained the aquifers in their home countries, so now they are moving here...

Good to know....

Judge dismisses charges relating to man shooting down drone hovering over his property.

I bet this gets referred to a lot in the upcoming year.

I may need it myself.

Fred Thompson

Has passed.

I really liked that guy.  Kinda a man's man....married to a hotttie,  was, among other things,a Senator, an attorney, and a film star.

A good Senator too...

He must be taking testosterone shots

I'm talking about RNC chairman Reince Priebus....

Or maybe his testicles have suddenly dropped, after all these years.

I dunno. "The CNBC network is one of your media properties, and its handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith. We understand that NBC does not exercise full editorial control over CNBC’s journalistic approach. However, the network is an arm of your organization, and we need to ensure there is not a repeat performance."

But at least the RNC and the Republican leadership is finally taking a stand.

Now, likely, they will fold when push comes to shove, but this is a start in the right direction...

If the candidates had a clue, they'd either livestream the debates themselves, or agree amongst themselves that if the moderators of the debates handle it like the last ones, they will all walk offstage together if say, 3 of them are ambushed as in the past.....Just all say, "This is bullshit" and walk off.

Saturday, October 31, 2015

Mebbe we should try that here:

Starting with General Motors and other "Bailed Out" businesses (like a lot of banks and other financial institutions) that are "too big to fail" where the bail out had cost the government (and thus we taxpayers) money....

Seems that the government in Iceland has not only jailed some major players (26 of 'em, in fact) in their banking industry for their role in the 2008 banking crisis, but is also taking over the assets of the banks involved...and selling them at a profit and distributing those assets to the taxpayers that had to fund their failures. If only we could do that here is the US....or at least hold these CEO's responsible and under the gun until the bailouts have been repaid in full.

Seems to me that it should be the above, or burning at the stake....

For those in Northern Indana

Or willing to travel to Nothern Indiana for a decent collectors gunshow (not much Tupperware nor Evil Black Rifles...but many military rifles and other collectibles) Then be aware that the Nappannee Gunshow is this Saturday.

Apparently, they have rebuilt the exhibit hall that collapsed due to snow last spring.

Find the intersection of Rt 6 and Rt 31. Go east  about 15 miles. Find Tomahawk Trail, turn north...look for the parked buggies and enter the gunshow.

Standard gunshow rules apply.

If you are hungry, the restaurant just south of the gunshow has an excellent breakfast buffet for like $8.00. All you can eat bacon, sassage, biscuits (and gravy!) eggs, pancakes, french toast etc.

Plus all you can eat bacon.

An armed society will ultimately always end up a polite one...

Seems that the Austrians are choosing to arm themselves in defense of their way of life and to protect themselves from the growing threat of the Middle Eastern immigrants flooding their country and terrorizing the Austrian citizens.

Apparently shotguns are nearly sold out. While not the best choice for a defensive weapon, they are legal in Austria, easy to get (require no permit), and better than nothing.

Truth:

Allison McKenzie was in the family apartment in Edinburgh.

The 17 year old was looking in the mirror in the family room one afternoon and wistfully cupping her young small breasts.

"I wish they were bigger like Colleen McDougals" she whispered.

At that very moment, her father Angus McKenzie and her mother, Louise were passing by.

Angus said heartily, "Och aye Lassie, if ya want 'em to grow bigger, take a piece of paper and gently rub it between them. Do this at least one or twice daily. Trust me, they'll grow".

Both Allison and Louise looked at him strangely.

"Aye lassies, trust me, it is a secret every man learns. Once or more daily,...and it'll happen. Some things men learn and women never see, even though it's right in front of  them. Men know such things....Just as women have their lore, so do men."

The two women looked skeptical, but the moment passed and everyone went on about their business that day.

Young Allison, however, did not forget, and she tried Angus's secret cure. Every day, she took a piece of tissue and rubbed it between her breasts, morning and nighttime,

She did this for months.

Again, in the family room, she was examining herself critically, "Father, she said, I don't think your "secret" worked. Me breasts haven't gotten any bigger. Not one tiny bit. I'm thinkin' that you said that just to make me feel better. Or perhaps you were lyin'"

Angus looked up from where he and Louise were watching the telly at the other end of the room.

"Strange, it worked so well on yer Mother's arse...."

Angus will be buried in Edinburgh cemetery on Thursday....

Government paycheck=Get out of jail free card

Especially when the lawbreaking is approved at the highest levels of government....Like maybe Barry O and his associates...

Dept Of Justice will not bring charges against IRS officials who improperly targeted Conservative Groups.

"The probe found "substantial evidence of mismanagement, poor judgment and institutional inertia leading to the belief by many tax-exempt applicants that the IRS targeted them based on their political viewpoints. But poor management is not a crime," Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik said in the letter."

If not a crime, then "Poor Management" should be grounds for dismissal at the very least.

But nothing will happen, at least not with the DOJ controlled by Barry O...

I should be going to a gunshow

Seein' as how the Indy 1500 is this weekend.

But I don't have the bucks to get what I want, and it likely wouldn't be available there anyway ..

And my gun budget will be tight for the next few months...

and, to tell the truth, I am not that motivated anyway...

Maybe next time.

Bummer:

One of my favorite actresses has passed.

Maureen Ohara passes on. She lived to the ripe old age of 95.

She will always be a beauty in my minds eye.

Thursday, October 22, 2015

well, shit.

So yesterday was the day I did maintenance on the tractor. 200  hour interval oil change,....Simple, right?

Drain oil,
replace drain plugs (there are two on this tractor)
unscrew old filter cartridge,
put new oil filter cartridge on
add oil,

All accomplished yesterday. Simple. 25 minutes, and that long only because the oil takes forever to drain from the tiny drain hole.

I used the tractor to haul several things yesterday, after the oil change. no issues. All chores accomplished at low throttle setting (say 1500 RPM). That is important to the story, so pay attention.

Today, I went to push some partly rotten railroad ties out of their depressions in the ground preparatory to replacing them with new timbers.

Had to rev the tractor up a bit to push and lift at the same time. Closer to three thousand RPM.

First tie went fine.It rolled out of the ground and all was good. Repositioned the tractor over about 8 feet and pushed on the second tie. Odd gurgling sounds came from the front of the tractor. I looked and saw engine oil spraying from around the oil filter.

Shut the tractor off most ricky-tic. Don't think I hurt the engine.

Pull the side panel off and yep, there is oil dripping from the mess where it had sprayed from the point where the filter meets the engine block.

Go and get the filter wrench and figured I would give it a turn or two.....maybe I didn't get it tight enough (this engine needs the filter hand tight plus 2 turns). The filter was tight, but as I tightened it some more it felt....funny.

Decided to take the filter off to see what is what.

The gasket had split... no longer a round shaped flat gasket, it was instead a single long piece....

Maybe I wrinkled it when I put it on, but I don't think so. I had oiled it when I replaced the filter, and had screwed it on hand tight before getting the filter wrench on it.

Pull dipstick. Bone dry.

Now, the tractor is sitting across the driveway. Blocking everything from coming or going.
And I don't have any extra 10W-40 motor oil.
Shit.
And no spare filter. Shit Shit

I do have the old oil, but God Himself only knows what contaminants are in the bottom of the oil drain pan. Don't wanna use that.

I do have about 2 quarts of 0W-20 for the Prius, and about a quart and a half of 15W-40 for the truck. (I don't stock a lot of oil, as my vehicles don't use any at all...yet) Cool, thats enough to get me out of the driveway at idle, at least.

So I root around in the garbage for the old oil filter and use that gasket to replace the brand new (but damaged) filter gasket on the new filter.

So now I gotta go and get the right oil. Off to the auto parts store for 7 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Another $40 I gotta spend, but hey...

On the way home, I stop and pick up the high pressure trans oil filter from the Kubota dealer(used to be a Kubota only part, and they know it $$$. They were out on Monday when I stopped to get one, but promised that they would have one on Wed or Thursday.

Dude hands me the filter, which looked wrong to me. I questioned him and he said "New design, looks different, but it IS the right filter".

Should a gone with my gut and pushed it, but I didn't.

Get back home, change the oil a second time and then pull the old trans filter off. This requires a hammer and a punch to get it to turn (and tighten also). Hammer the old filter off, and the new filter isn't the right one...won't even thread.

I'm not that upset. We all make mistakes. Not happy, but not mad.

So I change my shirt, get my wallet and keys, and put the "new" filter back in the box after wiping my oily handprints off of it,  put old filter in a plastic bag and go back to the Kubota dealer.

Dude (different dude) at the counter says "How can I help you?" I explain my issue. "That isn't the right filter" he says, looking at the two. (duh)

So he looks up the old filter number and pulls a new one off the shelf...which looks exactly like the filter I brought in just off the tractor....Which is what I asked for originally, on the first trip..

"That'll be $74.68 he says.

"Cool. What about this filter, which cost $$54 and change? I ask as I push it across the counter to him

"No returns once the plastic is open." he says

"Hey, your guy sold me the wrong filter!" I pointed out. "I even questioned him about it...you were working with another customer when I was in here the first time....you had to have heard"

"I can give you credit if you have a receipt" he states.

"I don't. But I can go home and get it. ...But if I do that then one of you is gonna eat it when I get back"  I stated.

"I can make an exception today" he smiled "But I am gonna have to charge you a 20% restocking fee"

"No". I stated flatly. "Not a chance...Call the police"

"What?"

"Call. The. Police"

"Why?"

"Might as well get them on the way."..I smiled at him..."We are gonna need 'em ...either you or me is gonna go to jail today"

"Um... lemme see what I can do.,..."

So it ended up the difference was $20.18...I paid it gladly. Next time I will buy my WIX equivalent filters through Amazon. Cheaper and easier...Had I known that WIX is now making a replacement I wouldn't have bothered to go to the dealer...and the WIX filter is cheaper too.

At least it was the right filter this time.

I didn't get a whole lot done today.

Diversity, no matter what

So it would seem that some administrator at a middle school in California (where else? I think that California government is a stain on the American landscape and often wonder if the country would be better off if we fenced the California border off and let them be their own country) felt that she had to have Diversity in the student government at all costs....So she (chose to attempt to void the elections, which elected Asians, Whites, and mixed race students...and no Black or Latino students or "English Learners"....

Is there any wonder that the education system is so fucked up? These are the people that are school administrators..And she will probably keep her job, desite sendiung a bad message to the children under her care.

Fer the love of all that is Holy

It is a muzzle BRAKE, not BREAK.

One might expect people unfamiliar with the terminology of firearms to make this mistake (but not really) but firearms and component/accessory manufacturers?

Still a warrior

While kids today are taught to Hide Under Your Desk...Men of a previous generation were taught differently.

75 year old man subdues 19 year old intent on harming children with knives.

Now, he took damage closing with a knife in the hands of an attacker. Yes. But he succeeded in his mission.

If our paths should ever cross..I'd buy him a beer. Or 6.

A good feeling

Today, for the first time in nearly 20 years, I was able to fully concentrate upon a task of my own choosing.

No worries about having someone from my business call me for advice or help or a crisis.

No one needing an answer to a stupid question.

In fact, I left my phone where it couldn't hear it and just dug a trench with the backhoe...I didn't even check the damned thing. I SO wish that I had been allowed to sell out about 8 years ago. I'd be in better health and in a better frame of mind.

But the road back started today.

It was good.

Darwin

SO some kid gets pulled over....maybe a good stop, maybe not. Pulled over for flashing the cop top point out his brights were on?

But when he gets smart with the officer, AND THEN FIGHTS WITH THE OFFICER, he ends up shot. Ventilated 7 times. (after being tazed and other attempts to subdue him, mind you).

Watch the video. The family is making a big deal out of this, filing a wrongful death suit...I think the cop was in the right.

As Murph points out so often, sometimes you are better to comply and file a complaint later. Sadly, this was one of those times.

Paranoia

Sometimes it may well be that they are really watching you....

I often wonder if the tinfoil hat folks are there talking so loudly just to make us discount the reality hidden in their message....

Idiocy

I find it amusing when (generally) women do something "symbolic" in support of something...

Say, they all wear pink for Breast Cancer (how, exactly, does that help?) or everyone in an office wears blue to support a comrade who is in the hospital (this does, what, to help?)...

But this from Legal insurrection about a campaign by 4Chan shows the idiocy in an extreme...shows how some people will follow a movement no matter how idiotic it may be...Especially Feminists. Because Patriarchy...Because Rape.... Urine Helps....

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AND UN ANNOUNCE GLOBAL POLICE FORCE TO FIGHT ‘EXTREMISM’ IN U.S.

Once, on a bet, I proved to a friend that I could hit a helmet (military surplus, and yes, I spray painted it powder blue for fun) at 500 yards....I did it 8 out of 10 times. (once my flinch and once a gust of wind, I think). I believe I can turn in a similar performance today...

Lots of folks can shoot better than I can.....and have better rifles too.

Nw of only our government would do the same here with our illegal immigrant issue....

Zero Tolerance:

Means that the school administration NEVER has to use any judgement...Which means that they can never be accused of making a mistake if they hide behind zero tolerance rules........

But, once in a while, something like this happens, and they are forced to make a decision...

HS teen decks bully who punches BLIND BOY.....and is suspended for fighting.

School administrators who try to use "Zero Tolerance" as something to hide behind for making these types of decisions should never be allowed to work in education nor be allowed in any position where they could influence children again...

Jesus, I hate that...

I spent the last day and a half in the wonderful Peoples Republick of Illinois....

No gat on my belt.

I think I spent half the time realizing that there was no heater firmly ensconsed on my belt and the other half castigating myself  because, intellectually, I knew that I had left my daily carry at home, but it just felt wrong and I kept coming up in a panic thinking "Shit, my carry piece fell off my belt".

Christ, I hate that feeling.

Yep. That about covers that

Bob Lonsberry nails the issue.

He was right then, and he is right today.

TWO AMERICAS
The Democrats are right, there are two Americas.

The America that works, and the America that doesn’t. The America that contributes, and the America that doesn’t.

It’s not the haves and the have nots, it’s the dos and the don’ts. Some people do their duty as Americans, to obey the law and support themselves and contribute to society, and others don’t.

That’s the divide in America.

It’s not about income inequality, it’s about civic irresponsibility. It’s about a political party that preaches hatred, greed and victimization in order to win elective office. It’s about a political party that loves power more than it loves its country.

That’s not invective, that’s truth.

And it’s about time someone said it.

The politics of envy was on proud display last week as the president said he would pledge the rest of his term to fighting “income inequality.” He notes that some people make more than other people, that some people have higher incomes than others, and he says that’s not just.

It was the rationale of thievery.

The other guy has it, you want it, Obama will take it for you.

Vote Democrat.

It is the electoral philosophy that gave us Detroit. It is the electoral philosophy that is destroying America.

And it conceals a fundamental deviation from American values and common sense. It ends up not being a benefit to the people who support it, but a betrayal. The Democrats have not empowered their followers, they have enslaved them – in a culture of dependence and entitlement, of victimhood and anger instead of ability and hope.

The president’s premise – that you reduce income inequality by debasing the successful – seeks to ignore and cheat the law of choices and consequences. It seeks to deny the successful the consequences of their choices and spare the unsuccessful the consequences of their choices.

Because, by and large, the variability in society is a result of different choices leading to different consequences. Those who choose wisely and responsibly have a far greater likelihood of success, while those who choose foolishly and irresponsibly have a far greater likelihood of failure.

And success and failure can manifest themselves in personal and family income.

You choose to drop out of high school or to skip college and you are apt to have a different outcome than someone who gets a diploma and pushes on with purposeful education. You have your children out of wedlock and life is apt to take one course, you have them in wedlock and life is apt to take another course.

Most often in life our destination is determined by the course we take.

My doctor, for example, makes far more than I do. There is significant income inequality between us. Our lives have had an inequality of outcome. But, our lives also have had an inequality of effort. Whereas my doctor went to college and then gave the flower of his young adulthood to medical school and residency, I got a job in a restaurant. He made a choice, I made a choice. And our choices led us to different outcomes.

His outcome pays a lot better than mine.

Does that mean he cheated and Barack Obama needs to take away his wealth?

No, it means we are both free men.

And in a free society, free choices will lead to different outcomes.

It is not inequality Barack Obama will take away, it is freedom.

The freedom to succeed, and the freedom to fail. And there is no true option for success if there is no true option for failure.

The pursuit of happiness means a whole lot less when you face the punitive hand of government if your pursuit brings you more happiness than the other guy.

Even if the other guy sat on his arse and did nothing.

Even if the other guy made a lifetime’s worth of asinine and shortsighted decisions.

Barack Obama and the Democrats preach equality of outcome as a right, while completely ignoring inequality of effort. The simple Law of the Harvest – as ye sow, so shall ye reap – is sometimes applied as, “The harder you work, the more you get.”

The progressive movement would turn that upside down.

Those who achieve are to be punished as enemies of society and those who fail are to be rewarded as wards of society. Entitlement has replaced effort as the key to upward mobility in American society.

Or at least it has if Barack Obama gets his way.

He seeks a lowest common denominator society in which the government besieges the successful and productive and fosters equality through mediocrity.

He and his party speak of two Americas.

And their grip on power is based on using the votes of one to sap the productivity of the other.

America is not divided by the differences in our outcomes, it is divided by the differences in our efforts. And by the false philosophy that says one man’s success comes about unavoidably as the result of another man’s victimization.

What the president offered was not a solution, but a separatism. He fomented division and strife, he pitted one set of Americans against another.

For his own political benefit.

That’s what progressives offer. Marxist class warfare wrapped up with a bow.

Two Americas, coming closer each day to proving the truth to Lincoln’s maxim that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

Perhaps because there aren't as many trying...

Viola Davis isn't a graceful winner

Her statement: "The only thing that separates women of color from everyone else is opportunity," Davis said in her acceptance speech. "You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there." is perhaps true...

But then again, Black people are less than 25% of the population...and I strongly doubt that that many bother to ;earn how to act, or even try to be actresses. And of that very low number, how many can actually, you know, act? How many have the talent (developed by training or not) to become Emmy award winning actresses...or can produce an Emmy award wirthy role?

Much like the fact that few black men and women choose to become olympic swimmers....the pool (pardon the pun) of olympic swimmers of any race is small enough....add in the fact the even fewer black people choose to give that level of effort, and you have nearly zero olympic quality swimmers who have more melanin that I do.

Stem fields....Few enough women choose to become engineers. Fewer yet for black (and Hispanic) women. Are they underrepresented in all of these fields of endeavor? Yes. Is it because of a lack of opportunity? Doubtful; Maybe a lack of motivation, or maybe a cultural issue that prevents them from choosing to take that path, but, really, I doubt that it is a lack of opportunity as much as a lack of people trying for those  WHO ACTUALLY HAVE TALENT TO SUCCEED....

Yeah, I know, pointing this out makes me a racist....

Standards:

Can't argue with his:

"They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol." - General George Patton

Friday, September 18, 2015

Many years ago:

The incident  about the kid with the clock that was mistaken for bomb by an uninformed and ignorant school teacher brought this to mind:

So I was travelling to a class in Chicago...this was in, IIRC, the then Sears Tower. Long elevator rides...

I'm travelling with a buddy: we had carpooled to the city to save on gas and parking and such. He was pretty smart, and even more importantly to this story, quick on the uptake.

Now, realize, this was pre-9-11...a more relaxed, more sane age, less psychosis when it came to "security" and less unrealistic fears.

So you also have to realize that this was before cell phone service (and phone technology) was at the level that it is today. I was carrying a Star Tac phone by Motorola...Which was, while in it's time,a real whiz bang device, (not so much today) it had a battery life measured in 10's of minutes....So I was also carrying a pager....I would keep the phone off, and turn it on and call the number displayed on my nifty Numeric Pager....(See, kids, this is how we had to do it before the new cell services that you take for granted today was built)

My pager was a nifty device too. It had a user selectable set of something like 15 or 20 tones....not just the Beep-Beep-Beep that most pagers used. My choice (so it would wake me up no matter what) was a very raspy and strident alarm that one might hear in a nuclear power plant just before a soft voiced woman announced "Core Breach Imminent, please evacuate" or some other words of doom....

So anyway....Here we are, in an elevator in the Sears Tower..(I don't recall if it was still the tallest building in the world then, but were going to somewhere fairly near the top, so it was long ride) The elevator car was fairly full....And we were somewhere close to the middle of the herd...Something like 30 buttons were lit, and we were near the end, so we were going to have to wait through numerous stops....

And here, even in an elevator my magic Pager goes off with it's strident "the end is near"alarm...in my backpack. And I didn't remember which of the multiple pockets I had placed said pager....

Everyone looked at me and or mumbled expressions of displeasure...I had disturbed their serenity or something.

I looked at Jack and said "Oh shit, I think it activated".....

Quick on the uptake, he said "Fuck, find it quick! you only have 30 seconds".

Amazingly enough, the once crowded elevator car was now instantly uncrowded, as all the other occupants were pressed tightly against the outside walls, staring at the two of us with wide eyes.

I took the pack off and began rooting in the pockets to find the offending pager....He took it from me and held it "Here, let me hold it... you don't have much time...c'mon, hurry dude..."

After about 25 seconds, the door opened and the entire car with the exception of the two of us emptied out. As the door were closing, I yelled "Got it!". We laughed heartily at the joke that only we knew....

We continued on our upward journey, but were met farther up by two security guards....who held us (after removing the backpack from me, and relieving Jack of his briefcase) until the Chicago Police arrived.

They were, well, not amused, but professional. Didn't think it was very funny (at least officially, but they were both smiling broadly as they told us to behave better) and they let us go with a stern warning after searching us (I did ask about a warrant, but didn't push it as I had started the fun..).

We were late for the class.

Today, in the paranoid world we live in,  we'd likely be shot...or at least incarcerated.  But then, it was fun.

Don't try this at home kids.

"Sorry"...

So some kit named Ahmed Muhammed did a project for school....Built a clock that an ignorant person thought resembled their idea of what a bomb looked like...Or what fictionalized bombs look like in the movies...I mean wires and digital display mean bomb, right?

It was mistaken for a bomb. ...Of course, if you look at the pictures, there is nothing but circuitry...no actual, you know, explosives. Nothing that could be mistaken for explosives. But cops aren't very discerning......apparently even less so when your name is Ahmned...So he got arrested. Truly, anyone who after about 30 seconds of looking at the thing who thought this was a bomb is an idiot....

There is prudence, and then there is unrealistic fear and paranoia. You figure which this is.

At least the kid has gotten some fame from this.

No shit

And in doing so, you insulted every single previous recipient...and cheapened the prize for every future recipient.

Obama's award of peace prize  was a mistake....

"The decision was based in a hope for the future rather than recognition of past accomplishments"....The big motivator was, of course that to the liberals in europe, at least he wasn't George Bush

For all you folks that think you can hide

From the Army, the National Guard, or even from some of your local cops when/if the Revolution comes...

Who thinks that those "Thermal Blankets" marketed by Max Tactical and others to those Militia minded folks who just don't understand FLIR....

I urge you to buy one of these add ons to your smartphone and learn just what FLIR can do...

You can see what a $250 thermal imager can do (IOS version available here)

....Now think about what the military has available. I worked with it 25 years ago, and it was bad-ass then. You could, under the right conditions, see a person's BREATH from a couple hundred yards away. And that was 25+ years ago.

You'll realize that your tactics will have to change.....drastically.

Yep, way to make me happy Amazon.

So I've been a customer of Amazon's for ...a long time..longer than some of you have likely been out of high school (hell, longer than I was IN high school)..... I dislike their founders politics, but I do like their service enough to overcome that....

Along comes the smartphone. And the Amazon App.... A very handy tool. I can scan any barcode and see what the price is on Amazon compared to the price in the store right there IN THE STORE. (I especially like to check prices on books and music in Amazon while IN BARNES AND NOBLE!)....track purchases and such right there on the magic elf box in my hand....I even use it to BUY stuff once in a while...(OK, I use the amazon app to buy a LOT of shit...)

3 times, however, this year, I have turned the preference to "Leave me alone, Damnit" for the "Hey! let's send suggestions to B for stuff he might like or has previously bought!" ("Buy it again!"....even though the suggestions are likely one-off purchases like a stethescope). and clogging my notifications bar on my Android phone....and setting an alert which sounds just like my voice mail notification....which wakes me up in the middle of the night on the days that I am on call...  And pisses me off when it is a false alarm....Now, I think that having the default be "on" for these suggestive selling thingies is maybe a good idea for the first time a person downloads the app.....but I am getting a bit peeved when they keep resetting the fucking preference to "ON" when I set the thing to "OFF" for a reason.

If this keeps up, I will decide that I don't need Amazon on my phone.... Which is going to impact my Amazon buying much more than their suggestive selling is likely to generate...the offset will be at least thousand dollars a year, if not more.

Ya hear me, Jeff Bezos? I already buy enough through you.. leave me the hell alone.

Such a surprize

I mean, whoda seen this coming?

Certainly no one with a functioning brain......

Iran has reportedly found an unexpectedly high reserve of uranium, following assessments that the      country is running low on the nuclear raw material and just days after President Obama essentially      secured an international nuclear deal with the country's leaders.

I am shocked, shocked, I tell you.

When the first A bomb goes off, it'll be Barry's finest achievement....Sadly, he (and most of the DNC) are not working for the good of the USA....

It just can't be.....

Apparently, Tam has put 300(!) rounds through a 1911 with no cleaning (and apparently, it started out not so terribly clean to begin with) .... and had no issues.....

Can't be. The only gun that can do that is, of course,  a GLOCK. We all know that 1911's  are Jam -O-Matics.... The only things worse are Kel-Tecs and Hi-Points....

Be interesting to see if it makes it all the way to the 2000 mark.

Info Bleg:

Since the first rule is "Bring a gun" I am looking for a pocket pistol...I have, as my daily carry, (and wherever legal) depending on where I will be and the gun friendliness of the places I will be, one of the following:

General daily carry:  Para LDA 3"  It is a .45 1911-oid... is stainless. This is a 3" 1911 shaped (and manual of arms) firearm with a really long, but smooth and light double action trigger. Nice, but not as concealable as:

Social carry: Beretta 3032 Tomcat. Yeah, I know a defensive gun is supposed to have a caliber beginning with a "4" and all that....and a .32 isn't a real caliber ... But I can't always carry a .45 in some social situations, or for instance, when I am doing something like bowling or such....And modern loads for the .32 ACP approach the .380 in stopping power...not much, but a whole lot better than a sharp word....(if I could buy a Beretta model 86 today, in stainless, I'd buy one)

Around home/working in the yard, etc: A Taurus TCP in .380 ACP (is there any other size?). It is a last ditch thing, but the pistol is durable, tolerant of dirt and sweat, and is easily concealed and doesn't move around...and is easy to secure with an IWB holster and a belt, even when I am doing things like splitting wood or fixing a piece of machinery....If I am in the barn, there are other close at hand options. If I am out in the yard, well, again, better than a stick...

One thing that is very important to me in all of these guns is resistance to corrosion....I have sweat that eats carbon steel like acid. Anything carried IWB has to be either stainless or resistant to corrosion or it will be pitted in a week and inoperative in a month. Seriously.

I am looking at the DAO Bodyguard .380....anyone have any experience with this firearm? Durability, resistance to sweat, dirt, etc? Reliability? Other observations?  Holster options for Concealed Carry?

So today is 9/11....

and leaving the historical significance of the date aside, it is likely to be a lively day.....

Seems that bunch of "Black Lives Matter" type folks are planning some demonstrations and other rallys promoting violence and mayhem.

I'd be careful. Be on guard. Stay away form predominantly poor black neighborhoods on 9/11 and 9/12.

This might be (most likely will be) a fizzle. But maybe not.

Plan accordingly...

Best not to be there, if ya can arrange it....You can't fight a mob, if and when. You can't carry enough magazines...

14 years ago:

'Twasn't christians, nor Bhuddists, not Wiccans nor Hindus nor Jews... 'Twas Muslims. Supported by Muslims. I don't care if it is politically correct to point that out or not. Not all Muslims are bad, but again, it wasn't Christians, nor Buddists, not Wiccans nor Hindus nor Jews who did this terrible deed......

I won't forget.

1 Adam-12: End of Watch

Martin Milner, star of Adam-12, has passed at the age of 83.

I believe I have watched every single episode over the years. His character, Pete Molloy, was, to me, what a cop should be.

Y'know....

Every major Holiday I am amazed at the actions of people. Why in the hell some people leave home, and drive 1200 miles in a car that a sane person wouldn't drive across town (a small town, like on with 274 people in it)....and with $27.43 in their pocket for gas, food and ("unexpected") repairs.....I'm talking cars with oil leaks, rotten hoses and belts, bald tires, rod knocks, bad lifters, weak fuel pumps, cracked distributor caps, bad wires, and missing exhausts..... Cars that you'd be afraid to dive past the end of your block.....

Yet they drive from Arkansas to upper Michigan and (they hope) back.....

Or not....as I find out every major travel Holiday.

Looks like Barry

Has the race/culture war he wanted...

Someone is stirring up a segment of that Demographic.  I wonder who it is?

And once they get the cops on the defensive, then what?

Are they gonna go after Whitey? It'll probably work on the liberal city dwelling metrosexuals and the other liberals who really have no clue...who can't defend themselves...

But not elsewhere....Some targets are harder than others.

And if they do start killing cops and others, it will once again set relations between the races back. Just like the DNC wants so they can keep stirring the pot and garnering votes from the "disenfranchised"...

How many lives is that vote worth to these people?

Happy Socialist Day

Go grill a burger....

That is all.

Did you know....

The day AlGore was born there were only about 7000 polar bears left on the planet.......

Sadly, today, only about 26,000 are left.....

Ain't it the truth though?

So now we know he isn't really running

Trump signs pledge to support RNC candidate.

We know it ain't gonna be Him. And we know he isn't really planning on sticking it out.

The pledge may not be legally binding, but it shows me that he isn't serious.

Not that I was looking forward to him being one of my choices.

On the Missouri

in 1945...on Sept 2, Japan surrendered. Tokyo bay...

Ending the war...likely saving hundreds of thousands of US military lives, and possibly more than a million Japanese  military and civilian lives.

Likely, it was the two Bombs that turned the tide in the Japanese Government...

ETA: (This was supposed to post at 9 AM, but apparently I can't set a time correctly)

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Yep, Bring it

I mean, as he says, BRING IT.

All the way. Lessee you try. I don't think you have the intestinal fortitude or the wherewithal to do so. At least not if you've thought about the consequences. I have considered them.

At least that way you'll be upfront about it instead of sneaking behind peoples backs and lying and hiding the truth and misrepresenting "facts" and such.

I'm ready to play. Are you? I'll pay the price . Will you? I mean will you be there in the front lines, or will you expect your Tac Teams to do the dirty dangerous work? (Hint, yer gonna run out of volunteers really fast).

There are more of us than there are of you. More of us that you have police. Some will fight, some won't. But 10% of us are more than you can muster. And we know how to use our tools....likely better than your people.

So as he says. Go Ahead...Open the games. It'll be interestin',  that's for sure.

I hope you don't, 'cause I don't wanna see a lot of people, especially cops and National Guardsmen, get killed. I don't want to see my country torn part.

But if you think you can win....

Found here first.

It was bound to happen eventually:

Police officers enter wrong home.

Police officer shot, dog killed, homeowner shot.

Luckily, no one was killed....so far.

Now, the police were doing their job....they had to investigate the call. But entering the home? (they claim they announced themselves, but who knows?) Who knows what the owner of the home heard....perhaps he was sleeping. Either way, that was a bad move. Better to knock and let the homeowner invite them in.

Entering a home (and then shooting the dog) is NOT a good idea. Any of us might well have done the same...I'm not saying the officers were in the wrong, but it sure looks that way. I might well have shot at people who entered my home at night and shot my dog....in the dark, the homeowner may well not have identified them as police.

This is a tragedy. Luckily, there was no work for the coroner.

ETA: Apparently, it wasn't the homeowner who did the shooting, but rather a fellow officer who shot the cop.....
