How rich

are you?

Go here to find out.

Even the "poor" in this country are rich, compared to most of the rest of the world.

Be thankful.

Yeah, I know it is simplistic, but still..

I saw a book, didn't buy it, but flipped through it in a store. It was simply photos of families from different countries with the food they bought for a certain length of time (a week? A month? I don't remember). It was amazing how many expensive processed foods and snacks and such we in the U.S. bought (and the German family was a close second, though they may not be typical). The AMOUNT of food, and the plush waistlines of the people in the photos spoke much. Then there were families, with hardly more than a few handfuls of grain and a chicken to feed an entire family. Meat was a luxery, and water, nectar.

I've lived briefly overseas, and flown through Africa and the Middle East. We have no idea how good we have it. As a woman, I can't think of ANY country I'm safer in, able to use my brain and defend myself and not be whittled on like I'm someone's prized cow and sold as a child bride when I'm 13.
