Battlespace preparation:

Yeah, I think this is a bit of "Battlespace Preparation" for later.

Term limits for Presidents?

Goes along with the whole "Ignoring the Constitution" thing.

I doubt that it'll fly, but I think that they are trying to see just what they can get away with.

Friday, November 29, 2013

OK, so i'm not the only one:

Forbes sees the danger as well...(read BOTH pages).

We are were a nation of laws. If Barry Obama can ignore and set aside laws which he finds distasteful or inconvenient, can you and I not do the same? Can id decide which laws are valid and which are not based on my agreement with them?

This is a usurpation of power...Where will it ultimately lead? If he can get away with usurping the Constitutional powers reserved to the House and Senate, can he then go farther, having set a precedent, and refuse to step down at the end of his second term? (I realize that this is unlikely, but if can do one, then he can do the other).

If the Constitution is no barrier or obstacle to, or limitation upon, any single man's power, what is? What limits are there? Can he then restrict voting? Prevent elections? Set aside vote counts? incarcerate those who disagree with him just because he wishes to even though they have broken no laws?

The Constitution is all that stands between us and the tyranny we see happening in other counties, both third and first world. ANY erosion of that bulwark is dangerous and precedent setting.

Enough is enough. This must stop. Immediately. This isn't about politics. It is about Constitutional law. I call upon our legislators and our Courts to stop this. Right now.

We have an imperfect Republic, but it is ours...and it works. It has made the United States the best country, the place where freedom loving people have striven to come to, for 237 years....

But can we keep it?

What are you thankful for?

Actually, that should read: "For what are you thankful?" (that tip to Gretchen G, my first college engrish teacher...)

All joking aside, I have much to be thankful for.

I hope you can immediately come up with a list as long as mine.

If not, then you need to realize that if you are celebrating this holiday, then you are likely a citizen of the US....and while this country has many issues, it is still the place that many others in the world wish they could come to, and which many spend all their fortunes to get to...

This is, despite the continued erosion of our freedoms and incredible growth of government regulations in the past few years, still one of the freest places in the world, with a set of laws which protect the freedoms we have. (so far, anyway).

Few people in this country really starve. They might not eat the types of foods they wish to, or the best for them, but they get enough calories to survive, nearly every mealtime....and that makes them better off than a significant portion of the world's population.

For the most part, we don't have to fear the police, unlike many in this world.

The shining silver beacon of this country may be a bit tarnished lately, but it still shines brighter than almost any other country.

And I (and likely you) are privileged to live here.

So how do we reign him in? Without Civil War, I mean....

Congress isn't doing it...

The courts aren't doing it.

How do we reign in this out of control despot that ignores our Constitution and our way of governing?

When is enough, enough? When will we stop it?

Why have we, as citizens been afraid to try and stop him? Wyy do we let him get away with breaking the rules set forth in the Constitution and usurping powers reserved for the Congress and Senate? Why do the houses of Congress allow this?

Even major mainstream publications are asking this.

You should be asking this too. of your friends and neighbors....

Everyone should be afraid of this. Liberal and Conservative alike. The destruction of the Constitution is a really bad idea, no matter whose agenda is moved forwards in the doing so.

Barry wants you to talk about Obamacare at Thanksgiving

No, really, he does. He wants you to have a Happy Thanksgiving

This will likely make people like your Brother-in-Law (who likely doesn't want to be there with your family anyway) very happy with you....which isn't a Bad Thing if he is a progressive, but will not make him very happy if his a a Conservative.

Of course, you could go all the way (Hey, if yer gonna make an already irritated Brother-In-Law go nuts, you might as well go all the way.....) and tell him that he HAS to take a double serving of cranberries even if he doesn't like them, cover them with gravy even if he doesn't want to (rules are rules, even when they make no sense), and charge him for the privilege. Say a hundred bucks. If he wants more, make it $150....explain that the "rich" need to pay their fair share.....

Then, of course, to really end the evening well, give him the entire DNC treatment: take 1/3 of everything he puts on his plate as a 'Tax" (this also includes his liquor) and give it to someone else...preferably someone he doesn't know. maybe a homeless guy waiting outside,,,

Charge him 60% of his dessert as a "luxury". Even more if he wants a second helping

Only do this, of course, if you are brave....or at someone else's house.

This is a kind a cool site:

Old Parked Cars

Just in case you didn't see it:

You should go HERE .

Follow and read the links.

All of them.

Find out what the NSA really wants to do.....

If you aren't angry by the time you are done, then you are truly a sheep.
Never say anything on the telephone or in any electronic communication that you don't want overheard, copied and possibly disseminated to others.

Ever.

If you don't wish to be tracked: Leave your cell phone at home....Not turn it off, but leave it at home.

If you use a burn phone (I don't, not worth the trouble)), NEVER have it on at the same time as your main phone...if possible, never have them in the same area. Keep them a mile or more apart.

You can consider email, encrypted or not, to be as private as a postcard.

The only reasonably secure communications are those done face to face, far from any electronic devices.  Like in the middle of a field or a cabin in the woods.

I really don't have much to hide, so I don't worry about that which I cannot control. But if you do, or if you have communications you wish to be private, then never use any electronic form of communication.

It's that simple.

Interesting:

Seems that the official report on the events at Sandy Hook Elementary School is being delayed.

Oddly, the State Police are witholding the evidence that they have from the state Prosecutor.

Isn't that interesting?

add this to the fact that the school was razed, and that none of us have seen any photos, video stills, or videos from the school on the day that Adam Lanza supposedly went on his spree......Despite the fact that the school had just installed a half million dollar surveillance system.

Not one photo, not one second of video, not a single video still.

I, and others, find that odd. Don't you?

Now if Adam Lanza or the school principal were running for office as a Republican.....

I almost forgot

Today is DB Cooper day

I doubt that he made it, but if he did my hat is off to him.

That $200,000 in 1971 would equal $1,153,773.87 today.

Hope he enjoyed it.

So can anyone explain?

Can anyone explain to me exactly what happened in the deal with Iran regarding their nuclear program?

As far as I can see in the reports, there are no guarantees, no methods to keep them from enriching uranium. No destruction of the equipment that they already have to make bomb grade material.

And for giving us *nothing but promises* that we have little way to enforce, they get access to all that money we had tied up that they couldn't use, and for a promise to do nothing for 6 months, we remove some trade sanctions.  We all know how much their promises are worth.

I'll predict now that in 6 months they will have violated the terms of the "agreement" and will have resumed enriching uranium to beyond the 5% enrichment level needed to make reactor fuel, and will be moving towards 90% bomb grade levels....and all of those centrifuges will be operating again.

But they'll have 6 or 7 BILLION dollars more to play with.

And we and the rest of the world will have nothing. Except the fear that Jihadist madmen are a few steps closer to having easily transportable weapons of mass destruction.

Thanks Mr Kerry. Good negotiating.

You ass.

2.221% vs 13.08%

Or, to put it another way, 1 in 45W vs 1 in 8B

WTF am I talking about?

That is the percentage or ratio of people on welfare. 1 in 8 black people are on welfare, vs 1 in 45 white people.

Now, make no mistake, there are nearly as many white people on welfare as black people. But there are a lot more white people in this country, so as a percentage, the difference is if not frightening, at least impressive....and significant.....and, at least to me, frightening.

Read. Read the whole thing.

Draw your own conclusions.

I figured that since nearly everything I do, say or point out shows that I am a racist (according to some) that I have no reason not to post this observation.

I'd like to know, however, why pointing out failures, or bad behavior, or lack of class or adherence to the social contracts and such like is racist. Why expecting people, no matter what their race, to behave and to try to excel is racist. Why expecting the best from people is racist....Why not making excuses for them is racist.

Why?

Isn't it even more racist and condescending to expect that people with an African ancestry can't be civilized? That they can't compete in the economic and social market? Isn't lowered expectations for some racial groups even more racist and demeaning? To say that because you are darker than me you should be coddled and that we should make excuses for your behavior because we can't expect you to be civilized because you have an excess of melanin compared to others in this country?

Oh, and taking the raw numbers at their face value, the total number of PEOPLE on welfare is frightening. And it doesn't reflect well on our current government and their policies either.

Why we will never be friends:

So yesterday I had a business acquaintance ask me what I was doing Saturday (today) morning...

I replied that I was teaching an NRA course at my local range.

"I hear you can make a LOT of money doing that" he said.

"Nope, we do it for a very low price...the cost of the course materials only... and the instructors work for free."

"Why waste a Saturday if you don't get paid?" he asked.

I left as soon as I could. Not worth the time to explain to him that by teaching others for only the cost of the materials, I am paying back all those people who took the time 20-30-40 years ago to teach me, and set my feet on the path I walk today.

He'd not understand that I still owe a debt to some of those people....many of whom are dead of old age by now ...So all I can do is pay it forward....continue the legacy. Honor their time by investing my own in the future.

He'll not understand. And that is why he and I will never be friends.

*ETA: 24 new shooters and 3 old men who showed up looking for entertainment.  Class was 50 50 men and women, more or less. Several mother/daughter groups.

About half will take more training, most learned that firearms aren't evil, bad,or dangerous all by themselves.I think everyone enjoyed themselves. A fair percentage will end up owning a firearm.

24 "New Shooter Grins".... I got paid. And I paid it forward.

Yeah.... another wasted Saturday.

Since I am a racist and all

I'll point this out.

Seems that some people are getting the message. It isn't whites doing it to blacks. It is blacks doing it to whites and blacks, but especially whites.

Why isn't this a hate crime? Targeting someone because of the color of their skin. If a white person targets a black or hispanic or asian due to their race, then it is a race crime. As it should be. But if it is a black person on a white person, somehow the hate/race crime part is overlooked. Why is that?

Ignoring the issue doesn't make it go away.

An idea:

If the RNC and their folks want to undo Obamacare, then they REALLY need to consider using this:

The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again by jpierrev

In a commercial for each of their people who will be running against a Democrat in every race.

With a bit of creative work and editing and the proper voice over message, the signature line "We wont get fooled again!" could be used over and over and over to totally destroy the credibility of the democrats when it comes to promises made about Obamacare.

Spend the money .......drive the message home that they lied to their constituents and that they didn't have the health and welfare of those who vote for them (and whom they are supposed to represent) at heart, but rather Party politics and loyalty.

Play it loudly and often. "We Wont Get Fooled Again!"

Soon, people will remember the message every time the song is played on the radio. It'll play better than "hope and Change" if you do it right.

The WHO is a band that crosses a generation. Nearly everyone has heard them, and they are all potential voters.

Hey, It's gotta work better that the past few RNC attempts.

I am thankful

That the bad weather around here spared my area....my family and friends and such.

Power outages and tree limbs were the extent of any damage for anyone I know.

And for that, I am thankful.

Say a prayer for those folks in the Midwest who lost homes. Be thankful for the fact that yours is intact.

Question:

If the Prez is willing to Ignore laws that are voted on in a Constitutional manner by both houses and signed into law by him, then why should any of the rest of us bother to obey ANY law?

I mean, why bother to obey speed limits? Follow the rules of the EPA?

Why should we pay taxes?

Few, if any of us like any of these laws either. They are (nearly) as unpopular as Obamacare is. If he can tell us (illegally) to ignore the Obamacare Insurance laws, then why can't we ignore any other unpopular laws?

Not an abuse of power....

The IRS is above that...right? Non political and all that.....?

I find it interesting that the bastards think they can get away with this.

Harassing those who helped Scott Walker break the Unions

It would appear

That procrastination sometimes pays off.

Having had a (somewhat painful) pinched nerve in my neck, I had been putting of vacuuming the leaves from the many trees in my yard off of my lawn. Generally I have to do it several times as the leaves inconveniently fail to fall all at once. This year I haven't even tried to start the vacuum, much less moved a single leaf yet. They were getting.....thick.

However, the 7+ MPH winds (with gusts above that!!!) seem to have dislodged the last of the leaves from the trees very well.

Plus the wind was strong enough that a significant portion of them, even though wet, moved to my useless waste of oxygen neighbors yard.

Procrastinate!!! (later)

Why is it?

That any time someone criticizes a person of color who is in a position of power that it is always racism?

Currently, Oprah Winfrey claims that “There’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs. And that occurs in some cases and maybe even many cases because he’s African American. There’s no question about that and it’s the kind of thing nobody ever says but everybody’s thinking it.”

(video HERE)

This sort of excuse-making happens all the time. Anyone who criticizes the performance or decisions  of a "Person of Color" , be they in a leadership position in either government or private business, must, by definition, be a racist.

Yet when white people in similar positions are criticized, no matter the race of the person doing the criticism, it is merely facing reality...

The implication is, of course, that black people cannot be racist....which does not fit with my observations in this society. If anything, I have found that most black people cannot look beyond the color of skin. A higher percentage of caucasians, if anything, look past the skin color and see instead the person beneath, and judge accordingly. This is not to say that all do...sadly, more than enough see only a black man. Nor do all black men see only white skin.

This is not an either-or thing. Rather, there are shades, as it were, of gray...Some on both sides are racist, others are less so. Few of us are not at all racist.

But to excuse all criticism as racist is disingenuous To disregard all criticism as racist is to make excuses rather than face reality that your performance may be lacking. IF you make excuses, you cannot improve.

Thus we have Oprah making excuses for the failure of Obama on so many levels.  It could not be that he is simply not up to the job. But there are many who will not (or cannot?) face this, but instead make excuses. It must , therefore, be racism. I find that sad.

The sad part is that there are so many capable folks who happen to be darker than me who are extraordinarily capable...who could have advanced the view of black people as capable. But they are not (nor likely wish to be) President.  They have better things to do with their lives.

Didja know I was a racist? I didn't

Until today, I didn't know that I was a racist.

See, I got this call where this woman asked if I would participate in a telephone survey. I said that I really didn't have the time, but she was persistant. She told me that it wouldn't take much time at all and would really help her out as she had a quota.

"All I gotta do is axe you 10 questions" She said

"ASK" I replied.

Long pause.

"What" she said

"ASK. Ay Ess Kay". I replied. "Not axe....An axe is what you chop trees down with...You can't axe a question. You ASK them".

She got silent for a minute, then another voice came on the line. Her supervisor.

Who told me that my "Mocking" of the first girls use of words was racist.

I hung up .

Apparently I am supposed to feel bad. Or something.

See:

So, a week or so after the Philippines were hit by Typhoon Yolanda Haiyan, the world powers are beginning the process of bringing relief to the beleaguered islands of the Philippines and the Filipinos whose homes were destroyed. But they have had to wait a week.

A week is, no doubt for them, an extremely long time...But really, when one considers the scope of the relief effort, and the distances involved, it is really a remarkably fast response time. Tons of food, and bottled water. Thousands of troops. Logistics...Finding a place to send the supplies..... Bringing in soldiers to move the food, water and shelter...... Providing security (and food and shelter) for those folks and the supplies that they are bringing and distributing. (Hungry people with hungry children aren't terribly logical or law abiding..... The veneer of civilization and society is very thin at the best of times..When things get pear-shaped, it may disappear entirely).

Now, if your home is gone, wiped out by the storm,  just plain isn't there anymore...that is one thing....But this is a perfect example of what I preach so often: HAVE SOME FOOD AND A SOURCE OF DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE FOR EMERGENCIES!. I'd bet that most of the folks who are demanding food and water had the ability to store some food and water (or a water filter)  in their homes, and most of those homes, while possibly damaged, are not destroyed. Had there been food and water stored there, most of it would have survived.

How handy would some canned food, (and a can opener) and a water filter be for those folks right now? Even the poorest person could save 1 can a month and have a decent stash of food after a year...after 2, or 3 years they would have enough under their bed or in a closet to keep them going, if not happy for a long time.

Now, again, if your home isn't there anymore then things are different. But that is NOT the case for most.

Most are near starving and dehydrated because they chose not to plan ahead and their normal distribution systems have broken down or just don't exist anymore.

Think things will be much different in the US? See also:Katrina.

Plan ahead a bit. be the Ant rather than the Grasshopper. Yes, if something very bad happens in the US or in nearly any first or second world country, aid will come. But plan to survive until it does. It may well take a while to get there. Say...a week or two.

Show this to all your friends.

Especially the liberal ones who believe that the answer is always Big Government.....and/or a Democrat solution.

I'm talking about HealhSherpa. Written by THREE GUYS. And it works for 34 states (others coming soon). And it is as easy to use as any E-commerce site. Not like Healthcare.gov. Try it. You'll see.

Nothing Government does is done well. Nothing.  There is no motivation to do better. Ever.

Found via Borepatch

If you like your plan (and it hasn't been canceled) you can keep it for a while longer

So he put off an unpopular portion of the law

For 1 year. If the insurance companies choose to re-instate the
plans that were cancelled because they didn't meet the new Obamacare standards.

Then we are back to where we were yesterday. No fix, only a dleay

Of course, by then, the elections will be over....And nothing will really be fixed. This is, (pardon the pun) a Band-Aid at best. The whole thing is (sadly) a joke.

How is it that The "WON" is able to arbitrarily set aside or delay portions of a law? How is it that the Congress allows him to do this? (Much less the press and the people).  This is, by definition, Tyrrany.

If the President can arbitrarily change or delay any law, then we no longer have the rule of law as mandated by the Constitution.   And if he can change one law by Fiat, then he can change another. Your laws which protect and define your way of life are there only at his whim.

If the law is bad, then repeal it or change the bad portion. (not that I believe that the PPAFC can actually ever be fixed) according to the Constitution. Not by Fiat.

(let us not forget that the Supremes have decided that the non compliance fees for Obamacre are a Tax....and that all laws regarding taxes MUST originate in the house....which didn't happen).

I just hope that the Republicans (Spit!) are smart enough to not touch this ever bubbling mess. Don't try to fix it, don't help, nothing. Let the DNC and Barry get their hands dirty....after all, they own it.

Thought for the day:

Governments, like diapers, should be changed regularly and often...for the same reasons.

Damn

Just plain Damn.

Decent people in need

Will do terrible things to survive.

How thin the veneer of civilization.

There are those who will steral food and water to survive or feed their children, which I can understand...

But looting the rest of the things, like TV's and other appliances?

Think things will be civilized if TSHTF? Think again.

Just wait until things have gone on for 6-10 days. When people will kill for food.

Think of what it would be like if there was no aid coming....unlike now when 30+ countries are sending food and relief supplies.

Plan ahead for such an eventuality. If you live in a large (or medium) city, plan a way to not be there after things go wonky. If you live outside of a city, plan to have a way to keep what you have.

Or else be like the shopkeeper in the article, who stood there with a gun in his hand, unwilling to defend his property by using deadly force.

Plan, decide, or face the consequences.

Wishful thinking?

Forbes doesn't think so.

I do, however. We are stuck in this mess until we start over with a better kind of lowlife congressmen and senators (which ain't gonna happen until wew change the way we allow people to vote....

But Forbes (or at least the columnist) thinks we have a chance.

We shall see

I'd like to think

that I could be this honest and all that.

But I dunno.

$98K?

Tax free....no one knows? And legal? I mean he bought the desk.....

Damn, but I'd be tempted.....

Probably best that I never have that challenge. Not sure if I'd pass it or not.

I hear it's warm down there though./....

Christmas is coming

So I gotta ask a favor:

If you order Christmas presents through Amazon, will you take the time to do it via the link from my page over there on the left side:

Miracle drug?

HEH

From an email: (one of those FWFWFWFWFWFWFW things. I opened it accidentally when I was deleting all those multiply forwarded emails that have been around the wen a half million times...

So, Barry: About that "Affordable Care Act:

Since you feel that the law doesn't do what you promised us it would (and assuming that you weren't lying to us then just to get re-elected) then you really don't know what the "Affordable Care Act" will do....do you?

I mean, setting aside "We have to pass it to find out whats in it" and all that other shit...

Since you really don't know the ramifications of the enactment of this piece of legislation, and since you can't even make a computer program and website work....

Shouldn't we repeal or at least put on hold the entire thing until we DO know how it will affect all the citizens of the United States? Especially those who are paying the bill for the rest?

Or are you a liar? A lying scumbag socialist who wants to destroy the healthcare industry?

I make it 50-50 either way.

Veterans day.

While I have a LOT to say.....the thanks that my life in this country is, for the most part, lived in (relative) freedom....that I don't have to fear for my life (or, so far, my government) and that I don't speak German, or Japanese or Russian (or have to, because they run my country)....That I really have little to fear from Jihadists or Communists or Fascists:

It is likely that others in the Blogosphere will say it better and more eloquently. They will use better words and phrases, and will do so with greater literary talent than I have.

So just let me say, from my heart:

Thank you.

It is because of your and your comrades service...and sometimes sacrifice...that the first paragraph of this post is true. We, as a nation often forget that. We fail to appreciate the folks who prepare for war, yet hope that it never comes.

In WWII the women (who stayed home) proudly bore triangles with stars lapel pins and flew Service Flags for each family member who was serving. That tradition somehow died and we, as a nation have lost something since.

But please, allow me, living the good life because of you and those who served before you, to express my gratitude for your service.

If it were you or me..

or anyone who isn't Law Enforcement, there'd be a fine and likely jail time.

Failure to Secure a high capacity firearm is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

No charges have yet been filed. But $20K of the taxpayers money was spent to recover the weapons.

Cops....like you and me and other citizens...., only better and more privileged.

Real life Calvin and Hobbes.

Happy Birthday

Marines!

Today is the day of their founding...

Got a buck to spare?

A fellow blogger has had a bit of an issue:

And could, no doubt use a bit of our help .

Details HERE.

I'm gonna toss a few buck his way, and urge you to do the same if you have a few to spare.

Hey, the difference between dinner at home instead of out will make a difference.

This could be any of us.

And DID.

Nice work.

And the best part? No charges.

Yeah, you really should read this.

Not quite the same thing, but still...

Good to see:

Remember those folks who trashed the Wal-Mart in Louisiana when the EBT system went down? Where the management felt it was best for the safety of the store and employees to just let them charge whatever they wanted on their card since they couldn't check the balances?

And those folks are finally going to get some consequences for their theft.

Good. More like this.

Some people think they are entitled to whatever they can grab/steal. They fail to realize that it, rather, a gift.

Were it up to me, I'd cut 'em off from any state aid. Period. Abusing the gift of society should be punished. At worst, it is a lesson for the rest. Behave or starve.

If this were me....

Then I think I'd have to hope that the cop had left town by the time I got released.

Else there might be another body.

Now I wasn't there, and I have no dog in this hunt. But to tazer, handcuff and then tazer the dude again for trying to enter the burning house is just plain wrong. If dude wanted to enter the burning home, that is his right. Not the cops decision to make.

Were I Ryan Miller, I'd be having an off the book discussion with the cop(s). After I had calmed down.

Or my sweet girl Vera might whisper in his ear from far away. Say 250 yds.

"Revenge is a dish best served cold" and all that......

It is sad

When even the greatest incompetent loser calls you

an incompetent loser.

I expect that Carter is glad that the Democrats have found someone to supplant him as worst president.

Barry:

Y'know, I always thought you were a liar...I mean, really, you ARE a politician, after all. Most politicians are liars, to one extent or another....My Grandfather told me that I could always tell when a politician was lying.....look to see if his lips are moving. And I have found that more or less this is true.

But you, sir, take the cake. There are lies and then there are LIES.

We expected to have you lie about some things...small lies.

But you have lied about many BIG things:

The role you and the rest of your white house advisors played in the capture/killing of BinLaden,

Benghazi: Can we really say enough about the series of lies there?

Of course, the latest one: You can keep your health care insurance plan if you like it.....Yeah, that ranks right up there with some of the things I told girls when I was 18....*
IfYaKnowWhat IMean...Hehehe

I figure you lied when you took your oath,,,Twice: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." You sure failed to keep that oath, didntcha?

So when you come out with your next version of your Gun Control effort....I should believe you when you say you don't want to take guns away from law abiding citizens such as myself?

Sure, I will.

I've been saying it for a while

But Peter's article really shows the facts.

Sometimes I wonder if I should  cash out my IRA (or a portion of it) and pay off the house....which is really the only thing appreciating in value in my current portfolio.

Stocks and bonds are flat, or at best barely keeping up with inflation.

Ditto my IRA money. Not making huge gains so compounding of small interest isn't resulting in real gains....

Ditto savings.

I think that my guns and ammo will be worth more very soon, but I'll likely not be willing to sell at any price......

Same with prepped foods and other supplies for when things get pear shaped....

Alternatively, Maybe I should go as deep in debt as my cash flow allows....and pay off today's dollar amount loans in a few years with dollars that are worth significantly less...

Thoughts?

Wet, windy and cold

And yet, strangely, 14 members showed up for the scheduled work party to replace the fence around the range that the county totally screwed up when they re-did the drainage ditch that passes through the range property.

Leaving aside the question of competence of the engineers at the Porter County Drainage board engineering offices and subsequent execution of the so-called engineering plans, the range needed a new fence...the old one had been destroyed and strange kids and dogs were wandering into the not so safe zones downrange....

And the kids (and adults) on the four wheelers were causing damage.

Since local laws precluded my suggested solution (*stringing of tight piano wires (painted black) at about 40" height* to discourage trespassing), fence materials were procured and a time was set for installation.

Then we got nearly 3" of rain the night before. Ground kinda skwishy...

Yet, surprisingly, 14 (nearly 10% of the members!) people showed up to erect the fence.

The outdoor range is now somewhat more secure than it was Friday.

It is nice working with MEN, not overgrown children. People who know how to work, take orders, needing no supervision nor coordination and brought their own basic tools and gloves and such, but were instead able to organize themselves to get a job done.

Of course, driving the Kubota loader home 3 miles in 40 degree weather wearing wet shoes was a bitch at the end of a long cold wet day. Now I gotta get caught up on all the other shit I should have been doing this weekend.  Winter be coming and I are running out o time

*(apparently the local Po-Po frown upon such measures against trespassers....? who knew? )
