Some lessons here:

Read all about how some Britons stole some 1.5 MILLION British pounds.....(And got caught)

First of all, an ingenious method of making small contained explosions. With legally (and easily accessible) components. (I remember making such explosions with 55 gallon trash bags...it went well until we added hydrogen to the mix, but that is another story for another time.....) These components are fairly easy to transport and to mix and detonate... A handy bit of knowledge if and when you need something like that......I might also point out that there are other gasses (commonly available) that could be used with perhaps less effective  (but effective enough!) results.

But the biggest lesson here is HOW the police caught the thieves: Cell phone tracking via the cell sites and license plate tracking........

While I have no intention of breaking into ATM's nor robbing banks, I found the story nonetheless interesting......There are lessons here for those of us who believe that someday we might need to protest our government rather more... vigorously.... than blogging and facebook. More...direct action shall we say?

Now, I've written before how, if you are stupid, you can easily be tracked with that small box you carry around in your pocket (or purse, if you are a lady). I've written before how you can avoid that using a burner phone from Walmart or other retailer, and how even that can be a trap if you aren't careful. Tracking via cell phones was one of the ways that the British Police found the men, and even more so, found that they were gathering together. Add in license plate tracking and scanning and you had a recipe for incarceration. (and, lets face it, these men had a history of crime which put them at the top of the list when cell phone records were tracked). Simply leaving their cell phones at home might well have made it impossible for the police to track them. If they needed communications, cheap disposable phones would have sufficed (had they used proper security (see the linked articles)) and once the job or jobs were done said phones were easily disposed of afterwards, leaving no traces as to who had been where........and who had called whom.

Please note: I am not advocating that you go and buy a tank of acetylene or propane and blow open any ATM's. Nope, not at all. But I am suggesting that you might want to learn from these men, both their successes AND their mistakes. Should the time come when you want or need to emulate some of their tactics, perhaps in opposition to your government..... you might not want to also emulate their mistakes......

Yeah, really, this is a bad idea

(In which I will no doubt  bring down a whole slew of epithets and the wrath of a lot of gunnies)

Stutzman to introduce reciprocity bill.

Yeah, a lot of people are jumping up and down and urging support for this.

Yes, most of my readers would like to be able to carry across state lines, no matter what state they are traveling though or to. I would love to be able to do so as well. I HATE traveling to Illinois, (or especially Chicago) and having to leave my heater at home.

But think things through here:  Reciprocity, while a nice dream, is fraught with issues: To begin with, each state has different standards. Do you want to have zero standards? Others require a great deal of training and expense to obtain a Concealed Carry license.   Do ya think that if this bill passes that the requirements (and likely cost) won't become onerous? Standards for a national CCL will move to the higher (or at least perceived higher) standards.

Then lets look at the the whole 10th amendment issue. You don't think that if this bill were to pass (it won't) it wouldn't be used as a wedge to further erode the 10th amendment and even further enhance the powers of the Federal Government over the States? They already control a lot of things with Drivers licences and Marriage laws (and let us not mention the Commerce Clause).

Those of us who live in states that have good concealed carry laws chose those states (and/or supported those laws) and vote for representatives that continue to support those same laws. Those folks who live in states where concealed carry is difficult or onerous choose to continue to vote for lawmakers who keep THOSE laws in place.

Are you willing to allow a state like California or Illinois  or New York determine the regulations you have to meet to get a CCL? Or set national standards for magazine capacity? Or further erode the (ever less) sovereignty of the states?  'Cause that is what this bill is likely to do.

Some in our gunnie community are urging you to contact your Senators and Representatives to support this bill.  I urge you to do the opposite.

I'd make him veto it

Senate passes Keystone pipeline.

Make him take a stand on every piece of legislation instead of backing down.

Not your father's Ebola

So it would seem that Ebola is (as nearly all life forms do, some slowly and some quickly) mutating to another strain of disease.

More contagious? Less deadly? Fewer symptoms?

Scary.

Let us not forget

That the people who forecast 27+ inches of snow for Noo Yourk Citty....

Are the same people who predict a glowball warming Thermageddon any day now...

From my Brother: "No shit?"

Whoda thunk it?

Sixty percent of job creation in 2014 was caused by the expiration of unemployment benefits, according to a new working paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

While I would argue with the use of the term "Job Creation", the fact of the matter is that when people have a chance to live off of someone else's work, and can live comfortably with the money they are getting from the government, there is no incentive to find a job. Why should they? SOme one else is paying their bills and giving them food.

We are, as humans, lazy. SOme more than other, but ultimately, we want things. If we want more/better things, or if we are hungry, we work. If not, we tend to be Lotus Eaters.

The above is a perfect example of that.

Thanks Bro.

SO the Storm in New York City

must have been a liberal storm.

Lots of promise, but when it came time to be something.....it wasn't.

(Which isn't to make light of the fun that other parts of the Norther East Coast are having).

But New York? Hah. Wimps. Afraid of a few inches of snow.

The way we coddle certain groups, it's gonna happen again

Only this time, it won't be the Nazis who do it, but rather a subset of the Islamic religion.

They'll find a passage in the Koran that says they can....and the rest of the Muslims will stand by and let them.I hope the rest of the world doesn't, but I have my doubts that they will step up to stop it....

They said "Never Again" 70 years ago, but today's world has likely forgotten.....

Monday, January 26, 2015

Shouldn't we wait until there is a

Actual EMERGENCY before declaring a State of Emergency? Maybe wait a bit and see if the storm actually materializes?

So far it appears that (as of 10 pm Central time) New York has about 6" of snow, yet the plans are to shut the city down around 10 pm because Snow.

Christ, if the midwest acted this way we'd be shut down from Dec 15 until April 1st.

OH My Fcuking God!

Winter is coming to the East Coast! Maybe as much as 30" of Schnew!
This, apparently, scares the bejeebers out of the (supposedly, but not really)  "Resiliant" New Yorkerz. Being trapped in their homes (maybe) for a day....

I mean, really, the STARBUCKS might be CLOSED. WTF are we gonna do?

Pussies.

I'm no expert at it, mind you..

But if yer gonna transport a MILLION dollars worth of weed or drugs (divide by three, really, to get the actual street price, but still...) then I would suggest using these rulez:

1. Use a vehicle large enough to allow reasonable hiding of the material. If need be, make several trips.

B. Follow ALL traffic laws. Use your turn signals. Full stop at stop signs. Make sure all your lights and signals work.

III. Don't speed. (or at least cruise with traffic). Don't stand out. Don't wear wild clothes or hairstyles. Be average.

Seems that very time one of these rules is violated, the Chicago cops find big weight.

Sunday, January 25, 2015

Odd, innit

How shortly after the "warmest year on record" (or not) that the Left East Coast is getting a HUGE HELPING of Glowball Warming.....

Now, this is, indeed, a fair amount of snow. But it isn't unprecedented. Much like "Superstorm Sandy" it has happened before and it will happen again.

If this much snow happens in "Flyover Country" then it barely makes the news....

It is only a big deal because half the folks who bring you your daily dose of propaganda news live in the area and they will be affected......

Out and about today

ANd I was amazed at the people who were not only in ConditionWhite, but were completely unaware of their surroundings. Saw several blindly walk in front of cars, never even noticing the clattering diesel truck bearing down on them until it was nearly touching them. And this was in bright sunlight. I wonder what they do at night?

It is no wonder muggings happen, if the prey is that unaware.

Friday, January 23, 2015

SO

Am I (Apparently I am) the only one who has a Jones for 1911 in .357 Sig? I want one more than I want a Coonan (and that is pretty bad).

Apparently the market for such a firearm is not more than the one I would buy.

I can find 'em in .45 ACP, .40 S+W (which should make it easy to change to .357Sig because it is, after all, the parent cartridge ) 10mm and 9mm, but not in .357Sig.....Why is that?

(Yes, I know there are conversion barrels for the .40's (and some .45's). But the reviews are terrible and apparently they take a huge amount of hand fitting and the reliability just doesn't seem to be there)

Let 'em riot:

Gotta let the "darkies: blow off steam, right?

National Guard ordered out of Ferguson BEFORE riots.

Might be something here...were the rioters outside a more affluent area, I bet the NG would have had lots of presence.

Draw your own conclusions. Nearly anything I state will somehow be twisted into a cry of 'Raciss", so I won't go further.

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

'cause we got nothin else to worry about

Penn Lawmaker wants to ban human shaped silhouette targets at target ranges.

Because apparently they have solved all the other human issues in Pennsylvania.

And, apparently, he thinks his wants and needs trump the Constitution or something.

People like this, no matter how well meaning, should be barred from ever holding an office beyond dogcatcher.

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

If they had any balls....

Then agents of the US Customs and Border Patrol would arrest this person at the SOTU address.

Here illegally. And blatantly flaunting the fact.

Ignoring it is violating their oath.

Wonder if they could charge Barry with Harboring a Fugitive.

Your scorecard for tonight:

It is once again time for ....

Barry's Bullshit Bingo!

Someone important musta got taken...

'Cause I can't see Eric Holder caring about the little people enough to do this otherwise....

So it seems that the "Asset seizure program" that cost so many innocent people's money and property when it was misapplied (unConstitutionally, I might add) to any random traffic stop where people had "large" sums of cash (if $1K or $2 K actually large?) is now a no-no....

At least there is some beginning of relief:

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Friday barred local and state police
from using federal law to seize cash, cars and other property without warrants
     or criminal charges.

This SHOULD make it harder for local constabulary to steal honest people'd money and property without proof of wrongdoing.

Let us hope it sticks.

DO you believe

So we are supposed to believe that some 13 year old kid wrote a letter  to Santa that somehow, magically, ended up in the White House, and (oddly enough) got put in front of Barry O.

And so, this letter, which is written out, (perhaps) by a barely literate black teenager who uses words like "Siblings". Really? This marginally literate 13 year old boy supposedly wrote this letter....

I know that Liberals are big on symbolism, but really, even they cannot be so stupid as to really believe that this letter was composed by a 13 year old inner city boy, rather than just writing what was dictated to him....if he wrote it at all. It does seem to fit all the stereotypes that liberals believe about black people, doesn't it?

I mean, I am glad he gets to see the assembled members of our government, and I have no doubt that this a big trip for him. (Hell, I'd like to go too) but I don't, for even a moment, believe that this story is true. I suppose if you can get enough people to say it often enough, some folks will believe it?

But, really, no one with more than 3 neurons should either, if they bother to look beyond the media's story.

"Content of Character"

Sadly, when we DO judge people on the content of their character, then, generally, others, who seem to judge everybody by the color of their skin, complain.

Remember, Darrin Wilson wasn't a cop, he was a "White" cop. As if it matters when a criminal is being apprehended.

Thing is, folks on BOTH sides judge according to color. Especially economically disadvantaged black people and those who purport to speak for them.

MLK would put his head in his arms and cry.

SO everyone seems to assume

That THIS rifle found in the outdoors has been propped against the tree for a hundred years or so...

And MAYBE it has, although I doubt it. I don't care how dry the environment is there, I find it hard to believe that a rifle could be exposed to the elements and still be recognizable as a rifle after a hundred + years.

How do we know that it wasn't left there 50, or 20 years ago? Just because the date of manufacture is 1882 doesn't mean that it was left out for 132 years.  I mean, it wasn't badly grown into the tree either, which makes me doubt that it has been there that long. I realize that Nevada isn't like Indiana, but still...

Sunday, January 18, 2015

Except, it isn't

Or may only sorta is.....or isn't.

Kinda squishy there. Might be that it could be that it sorta maybe is or isn't." Because science" Or something.

NASA isn't sure that 2014 is the "Warmest on record"

Seems that they, unsurprisingly, "Massaged", "Modified" and/or just plain made up data so that there could be talking points for the State of the Union....in other words, so Barry could lie about how to fix a lie.

In any other science discipline this sort of twisting of data would be laughed right out of the park. Only in Climate Science is this permissible.

As I write this

CBS is spouting unsubstantiated claims that "Glowball Warming" will make the seas rise by as much as 3 feet by 2050...As if it were established as fact or something...

Despite the fact that there has been no detectable warming in the past..what? 17 years or so? That Sea Ice area is growing by a significant amount year over year....Yet the fearfully (and breathlessly) trumpet the same old fears....

If there was a way to contact them without getting spammed, I'd complain, not that it would do any good.

Friday, January 16, 2015

Ummm...

NO.

No cover for the trigger? Nope, not gonna work for me. Especially appendix carry style. I like my testicles where they are.

This might well help the Republic:

Arizona passes law REQUIRING high school students to pass a civics test to graduate.

At lest they will know (somewhat) what the government can and can't do, and should and should not do.

They might actually understand their civil rights as enumerated in our Constitution.

Might be damaging to the Liberals though....

s'truth

When every citizen is a first responder:

Interpol: allowing citizens to carry guns in public is most effective way to prevent terror attacks

Keeps crime down too.

y'see, oddly enough,at gunshows there is little crime.... at the NRA convention, where significantly more than half the attendees were packing, there were no terror attacks, and no muggings. Odd that, innit?

Won't likely be no Mumbai style attacks in our shopping malls here in Indiana....at least no successful ones.

Read the folks on the left side... better content anyway....

SO exactly where

is Barry gonna come up with the (mythically low) cost of 60 billion dollars for the "free college" program?

Is he gonna cut something else? (Stop laughing).

Gonna raise taxes? (If so, then we know we voted the wrong people into office in Congress last election...)

Or is he just gonna print money again????(Thereby reducing the value of your retirement (again)).

Really, Really bad judgement

Watch the video below. LOOK AT HOW FAST the cars approach the pileup.

WAY too fast for conditions.  Like 40 MPH too fast.

Jesus, people, slow down according to conditions.

I deal with idiots like this several times every winter. And I have to help the others that are caught up in their stupidity.

11 collisions in under 2 minutes. All caused by people driving too fast for conditions.

So I am not the only one

Who noticed these oddities about the Paris shootings:

Not to mention the oddities about the Takedown in the Jewish supermarket...

You say I am paranoid.....And indeed, I am. That does not make me wrong, however.

Friday, January 9, 2015

Indeed:

HERE. I cannot agree more.

ONE person with a firearm could have prevented (or greatly reduced) the carnage that has happened TWICE in the past few days. One person being able to react with equivalent force. Just one.

But hard to do when the population (and most of the police) is disarmed, Innit?

yep.

This is SO true.

And there are those that say that voting makes a difference....

Boehner is reelected. Voted in (again) by those same folks who were elected because we wanted some changes. And he is doing his best to destroy any who challenge him.

Same old same old. If we had any chance of fixing things in the next two years, it is squandered. Peaceful change does not appear to be in the cards.

Boehner is Barry's tool.

ETA: Murphy feels the same way.

Yeah, He was a real man

So the dude (veteran of WWII) who broke out of the rest home in England last year to attend the 70th anniversary of D-Day has passed at the age of 90.

Yeah, he had what it takes, even until the end.

What happened to England? They don't seem to make 'em like that anymore....

I'll raise a glass to you this evening, Mr. Jordan. My kinda guy.....

Rules for thee, but not for me.....

So the faculty at Harvard, who strongly supported Obamacare, now face changes in their Health Care Insurance which impacts them...negatively.

Now, make no mistake, their health care plans are, by any measure much more generous than nearly anyone else's....In fact, they are what many would call a "Cadillac" plan.

But still, declining benefits and increasing costs to the faculty are happening...and they don't like it. At. All. It is "causing distress" and "generating anxiety". Welcome to the world most of the rest of us live in, you Ivory Tower Intellectuals.

Can you say "Schadenfrude"?

Kinda reminds me of a family member who worked for Johns Hopkins and wasn't too happy that she had to wait in their clinic like the other common people when she needed care....IIRC she paid extra so she didn't have to mingle with the unwashed...

Take a minute Tuesday

There is a decent chance that Boehner can be unseated as Speaker of the House.  (personally I'd like to see him horsewhipped, but that is not in the cards, so this is a decent second choice...) But many Republican House members are on the fence.

Help push them off the fence. Call, Fax, Email, whatever. Let 'em know that when they vote on Tuesday, that they should NOT VOTE for John Boehner as Speaker.

If you don't know who your congressman/woman is (shame on you, I have mine on speed dial on my cell phone) then THIS LINK will help you find them so you can contact them and help push John Boehner into obscurity and (hopefully soon) retirement.

Help stop Barry's agenda to "Fundamentally Change America"....He can't do it if our legislative branches won't let him. And lately, Boehner has been Barry's bitch.

One might think

That people who drive Semi trucks for a living would have some clue as to the care and feeding of diesel engines in general, and the characteristics of the diesel fuel that they use....

Ferinstance, that the waxes begin to crystallize out at lower temperatures, often referred to as "gelling"...and easily preventable occurrence with the addition of several commercially available additives such as Howes or Power Service and others. Generally this cost is about $20 per full load of fuel. While most diesel fuel sold north of the Mason-Dixon line is treated for cold weather, not all is, and truckers who fuel in the south and then drive north are taking their chances.....

Now, if a truck gells up, the service cost is about $150+ (labor) plus parts  to get the truck running, and the first thing they do is add one of the fuel treatments to the tank....

One might think that drivers who should know better would, when encountering temperatures below zero (Fahrenheit) would be smart enough to treat their fuel......right?I'm talking experienced drivers who have more than a decade of driving and hundreds of thousands of driving miles under them......

You'd be mistaken. While some (most?) are smart enough, many aren't.  They are surprised that their truck stopped running in the night, or that it won't start in the morning.....Like gelled diesel is a new phenomenon or something. Like the three I met today, when the mercury dropped to about -3F last night.....

(and we won't even start talking about those who have batteries that will barely start the trucks when it is 40 degrees F out......) Mechanics love these folks.....

These are people who are driving next to you on the highway guiding 80,000 lbs and upon whose judgement your safety depends....

Scary.

Who hasn't thought of this?

If you've ever seen a loved on suffer before dying, you'll understand.

THIS Took Balls.

Big ones. Made of brass.

Yeah, in some folks eyes it is indeed murder. But when we put a suffering animal down, it is "humane". Not so with a suffering human.

Why is that?

HT Free North Carolina

Your share is about $65.75

If you are a taxpayer, your share of the auto bailout losses is about $65.75.  Yep, the Feds gave away over 9 billion of your tax dollars and they'll never recover it. So that makes you share of the corporate welfare for Chrysler and GM almost $66.00

Do we get 2 shares of GM stock? Or 6 of Chrysler?

Who is gonna make good for this loss? Shouldn't we (the taxpayers) get our money back before the stockholders get a dividend?

Stop laughing. I'm serious.

Hint:

Driving too fast on the first icy road day of winter is a bad idea.

Driving too fast on the first icy road day of winter and jerking the wheel is a VERY bad idea.

Driving too fast on the first icy road day of winter and jerking the wheel and ditching your truck is a VERY, VERY bad idea.

Driving too fast on the first icy road day of winter and jerking the wheel and ditching your truck WHILE DRUNK is an VERY,VERY,VERY, bad idea. 'Cause once the cops come to help block the roads for the tow truck you are SCREWED.

Surprise, surprise

Democratic politicians lie to get elected

(not that all politicians don't lie...but about MAJOR issues?)
