Yeah, I think this is a bit of "Battlespace Preparation" for later.
Term limits for Presidents?
Goes along with the whole "Ignoring the Constitution" thing.
I doubt that it'll fly, but I think that they are trying to see just what they can get away with.

ReplyDeleteThere is your loophole right there:
ReplyDelete"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
Suspend the elections, and the 22 A doesn't apply...
However, the entire article is poppycock. The author claims that a President in his second term is free to thwart the will of the people, as he doesn't have to worry about hurting his reelection chances.
However, he overlooks the fact that the Chief Executive can't do anything without Congress' authorization. He cites Obamacare and the Iran treaty as examples. Obamacare was passed by Congress, and the treaty doesn't go into effect until ratified by Congress. His argument is invalid.
And he (Barry O the first)has set aside provisions in Obamacare without congressional authorization....changed the law as passed by congress with his decree. The dates for the mandates were set in laws passed by congress.
ReplyDeleteIn doing so, he has set a precedence and can argue that he can do so with any law he chooses. Change, modify, or set aside as he chooses.
He has, effectively, declared that the Constitution is null and void. And our courts and legislators have allowed those actions, effectively making them acceptable.
Should he choose to delay or suspend elections, it is more of the same contempt for the Constitution.
