Y'know, I am getting pretty fuckin' tired

Of this sort of thing.

Couple of points:

When a black man murders white people, for some reason it isn't "racially motivated", but when a white kid kills some black people, it must be racially motivated. Couldn't just be crime, could it?

And because he once wore a cap that had a Confederate flag, we must scrub all the US from ever having anything honoring the dedication and honorable service of the confederate soldiers.

If every time a back man murdered a white person, can we strip some statue of MLK? Or (perhaps) remove Harriet Tubman from replacing a white guy on currency? If we find that the black kid committing a crime has an X hat, can we start changing the street names and other monuments to the Black civil rights movement?

Logic would say so...

And then there is this bullshit. (and I actually agree with his ENTIRE statement about when power and responsibility should shift. ...)

ETA: For those assholes who won't bother to learn the quote that I am referring to:

"I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people," " (this was in the early 70's, BTW)

Now where, exactly was that racist? (see also Baltimore and Detroit for examples as to why he was correct.....)

The definition

Of a "Hate Crime" is getting so watered down that it is becoming meaningless.

Police called to college when one person states that "there are only 2 genders" ....investigate it as a hate crime.

These universities (and their staff) need to get a grip. There is racism. There are hate crimes committed, there is gender bias. There are many evils in the world, But panicking and pointing the finger for minor things, often only perceived by a person, waters down the definition these evils.

And makes the universities look foolish for even wasting time on such trivialities. THese folks need to realize that hyperbole isn't reality. .

Then there is this: The graduation ceremony is called the “Lavender Graduation,” signifying “pink triange that gay men were forced to wear in concentration camps and the black triange designating lesbians as political prisoners in Nazi Germany,” according to HRC.

Or, we could ban phones....

I mean, a significant bunch of people think that banning guns for the actions of their owners (or the people that posses them, that is)

So, instead of making it easier for folks to know when NOT to cross the street, we should, using that logic, ban smarphones (and earbuds). Right?

Right?

Jesus, Western society has sunk to a terribly low level when, in order to prevent people from inadvertently killing themselves, we have to put traffic signals in the sidewalk so that they will see them? So that they don't have to look up? (Really, because they DON'T look up).

Why worry?

Seems that the White House was (briefly) in lockdown because someone jumped the fence.

And here all along, I thought that the Democrats and our (spit) Prezident were all for open borders and such....

Yep

VERY true

Sometimes yer the bug:

So the step was somewhat loose on my truck...has been for a week. Been on since 2003 and investigation shows that the support was badly rusted. I can easily fab a new support, but first I had to get the step removed from the truck...

I decided to do something about it before either:

A. it broke while I was using it to step up into the cab, therefore hurting myself badly

or

B. fell off while I was driving

Either which would end up requiring me to try to remove the other half of the mounting on the side of the road or in a parking lot.Probably with a battery powered sawzall with a mostly discharged battery then a hacksaw....And likely end with me pulling and twisting (and cussing) to get the final bit of metal to break off.....

So this morning, after 10 AM (so as not to disturb my neighbors too early on a Sunday morning) I swept the apron in front of the barn, moved the truck, fired up the air compressor and set to work with the impact wrench to remove the bolts.

The half inch impact removed 2 of the 4. The other two? Not so much. Been there for 13 years...lots of salt and rain and such to rust 'em in place.....

Ok, I dig into the cabinet and get out the seldom-used 3/4 inch impact and the air tank and the 3/4 inch hose so I can use it at full power for the first 3 minutes....(the 3/8 hose doesn't really supply enough air, but it will fill the tank to run the impact for a short time at full power).

Yeah, that worked....broke 'em right loose.

Now I have the step removed from the truck.

So then I get to removing the bolt which holds the mount and the step together., so I can make a new mount.

The half inch bolt snapped off .

Ok, not unexpected, but the end is stuck in the bracket in the step. About an inch and a half sticking out. (but buried 2" deep inside the tube.....)

Not an issue, I will get two nuts and stack 'em and use them to remove the remains of the bolt. Tossed a bit of penetrating oil and some heat on the broken bolt first, just to help things.....

Yep, snapped it off a half inch from the bracket.

Ok, take a nut and weld it to the end of the bolt. Reach in with a socket ....Apply torque.

Snapped off just under the weld.

Ok, drill the remains of the bolt and weld that to the nut. Same same....

Snapped it off just under the weld again. Cheap goddamn grade (-4) bolt or whatever from China...)

Hell with it. I'll drill the rest of the way through the bolt and tap it. (shoulda done that first)....grind it off as low as I could with a high speed burr and drill from there...

Yeah, now it is hardened by the repeated heating. Kinda hard on the burr....Burned the end off the pilot drill. (Twice). But I got the bolt /bracket drilled for a half inch tap.

OK, got the tap in and started.

Yep, you guessed it. Broke clean off at the face. 3 turns in. Hand pressure, no more . What I get for using a tap from TSC. I should know better. Buy American.....I will next time.

SHIT.

Tune in tomorrow and see if I was able to get the tap backed out or if I take a torch and burn the damned thing out and reweld the hole and drill and try again (or maybe weld a nut to the face of the bracket in the tube and go with that).

And I still haven't fabbed a new mounting bracket.

ETA: Torch (the blue wrench). Welded a nut on it and put it back together after refabbing the bracket.

All back together now.

And realize that they have (essentially) no military

So there is the fact that they are hiding behind the skirts of NATO (which is really the US, as most other european countries can't field an army either) And the fact that Sweden doesn't have a huge minority group that sucks up a very large percentage of the social safety net and is non productive.....nor that nearly HALF of the people in the US don't care to work and pay no taxes.....

Bernie is right: America SHOULD be more like Sweden....

But don't bother to compare apples to apples.....

Odd:

Today, for the first time in a long time, as I was getting ready to get in the car to run errands, I looked for (and nearly called for) my dog to go with me.....

She's been gone now for nearly 4 years.

Weird.

This pretty much sums up the election season so far....

I'm thinking "None Of The Above" is likely gonna get my vote

Oddly, border fences seem to work

In Europe, at least:

Bulgarians rebuild border fence, and keep "Refugees" out

Oddly, our Politicians keep insisting that fences aren't needed on our southern border with Mexico. ....Claim they won't work.

Why is that?

"From somewhere in Saudia Arabia"

Which we already knew, but still, a stunning admission:

"So a lot of the money, the seed money if you will, for what became Al Qaeda, came out of Saudi Arabia,"

Now if we could only find out how much other help the Saudi Government (or some Saudi government officials) gave the 9-11 conspirators.

I still wonder why our government wants to hide that?

"Right here"

When enough is enough:

"Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here"

And it did.

What would those men think, of the actions we allow from our government today??

(In case you don't know, the rebellion was about many things, but especially the burdensome taxes and searches of houses (Writs of Assistance))

She will be

either Black, a Dyke, or a Poet.

Or maybe all three. Someone the Left thinks is "Worthy" and "Representative" and all that shit.

Guaranteed not a conservative.

We don't need to honor any old white men anymore.

I am nauseated, really. Not bye the fact that woman will be chosen and honored, but that they can't find any other way besides removing Andrew Jackson from the bill.

How many

Really.

How many.

How many are going to be terribly affected by the fact that, if you were born with a penis, you are required to use the bathroom meant for people with a penis.

The way the Media acts, it is as if fully 1/3 of the people in this country are Lesbian/gay/bi/transgendered people, all of whom are going to be affected by the fact that, if Nature made you so you stand to pee, you get one bathroom, and if Nature made you set/squat to pee, you get another bathroom. .....But really, how may people of the 324(+/- million does this affect?

According to Wikipedia, the numbers break down like this:

1.7% are gay/lesbian
1.8% are bisexual
0.3% are transgender ro identify as a different gender.

Do the math. Less than 10 (9.7) million people are affected. over 50 states. so more or less, 200 thousand or so (average) per state. Yes, I understand that there are more in Oregon and California than Kansas.....

I am sorry that they feel uncomfortable using the bathroom that is designed for the equipment Nature gave them. Yet in many states, a significant number of "real" women say they would feel uncomfortable if a person appearing to be a man were to enter a women's bathroom. More, in fact, than the 0.3% of the population that claims to be transgender (guys really don't care, so that is a moot point).

Besides, if they'd appear to be woman, and simply go in and do their business and leave, no one would know.

But they remind me of the open carry folks, who "carry a gun at people". These folks outside the mainstream have to "wear their differences at people. To be honest, it is getting tiresome for me.

At what point does the wants and comfort (not needs) of the many outweigh the few? Why do a very small (yet very vocal) minority get to say how things should be?

Hint:

Want me to look at your web page? Then don't overload it with ads so that it takes 5 minutes to load and navigate (even up or down).

'Cause if you do, I won't bother. That little "X" in the upper right corner works well.

interestin'

So the Saudis apparently are afraid of the truth.....or they want to rewrite history.

Saudis vow to sell US assets of over 750 Billion if 9-11 commission report is unclassified Congress finds the Saudi government was involved in 9-11...

While I doubt that the Saudi Government was officially involved, I do not doubt that there were many individuals in that government who were complicit in the attacks. Most of the Saudis I know/have met hold a deep hatred for the West and would support anyone like Bin Laden.  I have no doubt that when the opportunity arose to help make the attacks happen, there were individuals who chose to aid the conspiracy.

But the Saudi Government doesn't want that known, I am sure. I, personally, don't understand why the secret was kept for 15 years. It should have been shouted from the rooftops as soon as the report was finished.

I doubt there will be any surprises for me when it is finally declassified.

Why else would so many try so hard to keep the report secret?

Calculate:

GO figure?

Here is a calculator that will tell you how your taxes would change for the 4 front runners in the presidential campaign based upon their current tax plans.

Using that as the only criteria, I should vote for Cruz....which while distasteful, isn't the worst option i can think of.

Bernie, of course, will tax us all to death while subsidizing everyone as well.

See for yourself.

Indeed:

A better condemnation of the TSA I cannot find at the moment:

TSA: Summer Stock Theater.

But hey, Thousands Standing Around makes most travelers FEEL safe, at least. Right?

3 years

3 years ago, amateur radical islam killed 3 people and hurt over 250 others.

Bur it was an isolated incident. Had nothing to do with Islam. Just a couple of disaffected yoots.

Oddly though, that is the only group that does that sort of thing.

The family involved had been thoroughly vetted, of course, before immigrating.

Think about it.

Activist Judges

Should be disbarred when they do things like this:

Judge Denies Gunmaker’s Motion To Dismiss Sandy Hook Lawsuit.

If a judge cannot keep himself from letting his personal beliefs override the law, then they are unsuitable as judges.

And I find that judges that are appointed by liberals to do much more of that. (ETA: Yes, I know she was appointed by a "Republican" But in Conn., that means slightly more liberal than an Illinois Democrat)

At best this is a nuisance lawsuit.

One Wonders

Poor science. Very poor.

And shame on the New England Journal of Medicine.

So the CDC has "concluded" that the Zika Virus does, indeed, cause Microcephaly. (and it might)...They have terrified nearly every woman who will have children in the near future....and all potential grandmothers too, in the hope that they will get support for their funding request.

Maybe Zika DOES cause Microcephaly...... I would hope that the researchers are smarter than I am...and not political...But as we have seen in the past, that is often not the case with the CDC.

Reading the study, I notice that the CDC has apparently abandoned that wonderful thing that I was taught in school....Science and the Scientific Method. .

It does appear that there is a possible causal relationship. Microephaly happens where the Zika virus occurs...that is the extent of the relationship between Zika and microcephaly.

But that isn't the whole story.

Microcephaly DIDN'T occur (or occurred very seldom, the data is sketchy) until the affected countries began using insecticides heavily for the mosquitos IN THE WATER SUPPLIES. that people use for potable water. Specifically pyriproxyfen, which is (coincidentally enough) a growth inhibitor (causes malformations in insect larvae which result in them not growing to full term) for mosquitos and other insects (and maybe mammals). Zika has been in Africa for many years with no increase in microcephalic births...and in Columbia, where they don't use pyriproxyfen, there is no increase in microcephaly, yet the Zika virus has infected over 3000 women who gave birth there....

There is just as much of a causal relationship for the insecticide as there is for the Zika virus....More, actually, because of the timing evidence.

But the CDC and other organizations are crying for funding....specifically, they say they need $1.9 BILLION dollars to cure/find a vaccine for Zika.... (Odd that they can tell us exactly how much they need, innit? Will we get a money back guarantee? )

They won't get paid anything for research if it is the insecticide....Is there any doubt that they would claim it was the virus?

Just like the Global Warming Climate Change folks never ever ever claim that any data disproves the theory....there isn't any money in that sort of claim.....

It IS odd that the world has been studying Zika in earnest for only a few months...yet the "scientists" claim that they are SURE about the cause of the microcephaly.... I don't know,... the CDC may well be right and the small heads are caused by Zika and not the pyriproxyfen. But,once again, the politics involved, and the past history of the CDC in following the "correct" political trends in order to assure funding, makes this claim suspect. It is a disservice to the people to fail to investigate all links and clues. To fail to do proper research is a failure to serve the citizens of the US who are paying the bill, and to the people who are affected by this virus.

We all know

Or at least suspected....That the 9-11 commission report is/was classified to hide the fact that the Saudis (or at least some high level officials) were complicit in the 9-11 attacks. The only question for me was how complicit,...and how many Saudi officials? ?

Therefore, no surprises here:
Lawmakers are calling on the White House to declassify more than two dozen pages in the 9/11 Commission report that they say outlines evidence for possible support from the Saudi government for two hijackers who settled in Southern California.

IMO they are already done.

If Trump is nominated, the GOP will grow stronger and become a bigger tent.
If Trump is denied after getting the most votes in the first round, the GOP will be done, one way or another.

So why, exactly

Do we even have Primary elections?

I mean, if the delegates can vote exactly how the party elite tells them to their conscience and not represent the will of the voters, then what, exactly, are the primaries for?

But if no candidate has a majority of delegates during the first ballot at the convention, then the          delegates are free to cast their votes for anyone they choose.

"Donald Trump talks about polls, polls, polls," he said. "That’s been the theme of his campaign.           Using that methodology, I’m looking at polls, and that leads me to believe at this point that                  Donald Trump can't beat Hillary Clinton."

(Not to mention that you and I are paying for the farce primary elections, when they should be paid for by the parties benefitting from those election, rather than the taxpayers)

CBS today

Kasich:
"The Republicans should have "Fixed" the country when they had control"

That assumes, of course, that you assume that this country was "broken".

I don't see that. 'Twasn't perfect, but wasn't"broken". It worked. Worked well. The majority of the people were able to make a living. Some were very rich, most weren't Some were very poor....Most lived, for the most part, well. Yes, there were those on the edges who didn't, either by bad luck or (generally) by bad choices. But they had a safety net.

Now,we are bringing the middle group down, by many points, in order to raise the small percentage by a point or two. And it didn't, really, affect the affluent at all.

If anyone or anything has "broken" the country, it wasn't the Republicans. They might not have "fixed" it, but they didn't break it.

Rumors are Not true

I kept my mouth shut and I didn't get hassled by the TSA, and I didn't get arrested at OHare airport.

But Jesus, what security theater.

Not gonna say what I could have (or may have?) gotten past the TSA. Nope. They were, however, vigilant in looking for the razor blade that wasn't in my safety razor handle (I mailed one ahead).

But their security really sucks.

As I said: Security theater.

Yo, Hipster:

Yeah, you got the used lumberjack boots...evenly worn jeans, and the L.L.Bean flannel shirt.

Nice beard too.

But your office worker-soft hands betray you to anyone who cares to look.

Real workers boots aren't evenly distressed, their jeans are worn at the pockets, and the knees, not evenly all over. And an unworn LLBean flannel tops it, bro. You are only fooling yourself...and maybe others like you. .

By the time you read this

I should be embarked on a Super Secret mission, at a somewhat secret location.

I should (assuming I survive) be back in about a week.

Expect posting to be light for a week(ish).

On the way to Grandpa's house

When I was a young lad, there was a sign that said:

"Get US out of the UN" .

And then an address for the John Birch Society. One time I wrote that information down as we passed by....

I did a bit of research, and found out a LOT about the UN. It wasn't pretty then....and it is even less pretty now. They were on the edge of irrelevant 45 years ago...

Fast Forward to today, when I read that the UN had decided that Israel is the top Human Rights Violator,,,,And the top violator of the rights of women....and a whole slew of other denunciations against Israel.
'
Add in the total mismanagement of the UN's peacekeeping, it's inability to respond to any aggressions, or any natural or other disaster, the fact that they constantly whine for funding, but have money for sculptures and other useless but symbolic things and I can't help but wonder why, exactly, the US is a part of the UN any more?

And why do we allow the UN to take up all that space in New York? They could go to Brussels and take up space in the now useless NATO headquarters......Yeah, that NATO, the one where most of the member countries have spend so much on socialist programs that they cannot field any military (see Germany and France and Belgium for examples) and are depending (again) on the US to provide the teeth while exerting (partial) control over our military.

Really, the US should give up on such organizations. They are divorced from reality, and simply waste money employing (and entertaining_ a bunch of liberals whose effectiveness is, essentially, zero.

Spare a thought

For fellow blogger Comrade Misfit.

She's gotta take her long time companion on his last trip.

He's crossing the bridge.

This has to be one of the hardest things a responsible pet owner has to do.

I've done it, and it is hard, even if it is the right thing.

So spare a thought for her today. And for Jake.

Sadly, it ain't an April Fools joke
