Spinning like a pinwheel in a hurricane

You knew the media would try to put a good better face on the Fast and Furious debacle. Fortune magazine tried.

And here is another example.

Can you spot the lies mistakes in the article?

The half-truths?

The misrepresentations?

No impartiality here.

If we could hook this spin to a generator, we'd be able to power most of Wichita.

"Rat Bastard" doesn't seem to be harsh enough

Read this.

Higher healthcare fees for Military folks.

All the while wanting to GIVE freebies to a significant number of minorities, single moms, welfare queens and other unproductives.

"Rat Bastard" just isn't harsh enough. Of course, he's not the only one, Pelosi and her ilk are just as bad.

Thoughts

Tue Supremes wimped out. They should have either upheld it, or invalidated it. This half assed shit is for the birds

One the one hand, they weakened the arguments for the power of the commerce clause.

On the other hand, they said that Congress can tax you for anything, essentially.

So now they can tax you if you don't buy a product or service.

I am not unexpectedly, disappointed. Greatly.

I do have one question though. WIll this tax apply to everyone: poor, black, white, wealthy, male, Hispanic, Asian, straight, female, gay, etc? Or will there be exemptions for certain groups? Will we all be equal under the law? (yeah, I know....stop laughing).

It would seem to me that these Justices lack any significant amount of intestinal fortitude. They don't have the guts to make a real decision.

And that sucks....'cause they are (supposed to be) the final word regarding laws and constitutionality. And they wimped out here...yet again.

And, again, the power now going to the IRS via taxation is going to be huge. The powers they will have over your life is going to grow.

The only good thing about this is that Romney (spit) will have something to use as a slogan (repeal, repeal, repeal) and message that he can use over and over and over. And this will give him a rallying point around which his supporters and others can agree. So we end up with a slightly less bad president. A slightly less liberal weenie.

More money down the drain

Obama's administration really knows how to pick 'em, don't they?

Another $400 million gone.

How much healthcare, bridges, or military will that kind of money buy?

How to make shit smell tasty....

and other types of spin.

Done here with a great deal of flair and style.

If I hadn't heard of Fast and Furious and learned the details before reading THIS, then I'd have to think that it was ok.

ETA: It occurred to me that IF the limitations and obstacles hobbling the agents are actually that big of a deal, then the fact that they continued shows, at best, incompetence (and, at worst, malfeasance).

I mean, if you can't do something because of those pesky laws, or because the rest of the justice system won't cooperate, then why continue, knowing the results will be bad? Knowing that you will be facilitating the movement of illegal firearms beyond the borders? Not to mention the fact that thy failed to inform, much less cooperate with, the relevant Mexican authorities.

I got two words for you

Bring

It.

Go here for an explanation.

"General" TACO:

You won't like the ending.

At all.

Guaranteed.

And at the end of the kerfluffle, yes, all black people's problems will, indeed, be solved.

But not in the way you think.

Talk is cheap.

And you are as disgusting as those KKK assholes.

But, when you think yer ready, Bring It.

'Cause there's a lot more folks on the other side who are ready right now, than you think.

Yer shit might work in a "blue" city, maybe. But everywhere else, you'll lose. Badly.

You really don't wanna start nuthin'.

All your posing and mean looks and tough talk might impress those poor inner city youths. But it ain't gonna mean shit to the rest of the country.

Like I said, you really won't like how it ends. Few whites want a real race war. But you can, if you try hard enough, find one. And you'd better be prepared for the damage your race will take. It won't be pretty on either side, but you'll take the lions share of the damage. And you'll bring shit down on a bunch of good people, white and black, who don't deserve it.

And you'll still lose. And so will your "people". Badly.

Suggestion for TSA work slogan:

"Remember people: Keep your eye on the balls"

TSA at their best

Hours of watching hundreds people pass through a metal detector and never once did a light flash or a sound emerge. Yet he had no clue that the metal detector was not plugged in.

And the TSA "had no choice" but to further inconvenience people by making planes return to the gates so the passengers could be rescreened, and forcing everyone in the terminal to pass again through the metal detectors.

Now, I am no expert on terrorism, nor on hijacking....But if I were so  inclined, and the nice (arabic surnamed) TSA agent had allowed me to pass through the non working security device, What makes you think that I would carry my weapon back through the security line again rather than secrete it in the "secure area" or in the plane before returning to the security for rescreening?

And I wonder what sort of disciplinary action isn't being applied to the (apparently oblivious) pizza delivery reject TSA agent?

Remember, Security Theater, nothing more

You didn't hear about this via the MSM

When they were telling you what a monster George Zimmerman was, when he brutally attacked and shot a sweet child who was coming back from the store with candy for his bother and Iced tea for his father

Wait,

They didn't tell you that the sweet child looked like a ghetto thug, did they, instead of the 12 year old cherub-cheeked youngster they showed you, did they"

They didn't tell you that he had been thrown out of school for drugs and fighting, either.

And they didn't tell you this, either...That George Zimmerman passed TWO lie detector tests.

'cause then they couldn't stir up the black vote in an "us against the white man" thing in November.

THought for the day

A wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circlue of our felicities

Thomas Jefferson

The Dutch get it....

Now if only our Liberals will get it, we can get on with having a real country, and integrate our immigrants .  Assimilate them into the "melting pot".

Of course, the Dutch are getting serious about their integration.

Hey, since the liberals like everything that Europeans do, maybe they will follow their lead.

Things I learned at the range Sunday:

Went to the rifle range Sunday morning (finally!). 75 degrees, partly cloudy, almost no wind. My previous attempts always encountered either bad/rainy weather or high winds, making sighting in/performance checks difficult. Today was an EXCELLENT day to do both.

But I learned a few things:

1. The Sharps 1874 (.45-70) replica is a very accurate rifle. I was shooting 5 round groups (at 50 yards) where all the holes were touching once I got it on the paper. I could learn to like double set triggers...A lot.

2. That 17.75 lb rifle kicks like a mule...

On steroids.

A mad mule at that.  With a grudge. And a bad attitude. Whose wife just left him.... for his girlfriend.

I'm gonna have to get a recoil pad.

Srsly.

3. Steel buttplates hurt an already bruised shoulder. Repeated attempts to verify did not change this phenomenon.

4. My first attempts at paper-patching pure lead bullets went very well. Good accuracy and good paper separation. You can find instructions for ANYTHING on the internet...I gotta load some more soon. Maybe my shoulder will heal in a week or so so I can try again.

5. Enough rounds begin to hurt.... Badly.... Then it becomes Not Fun.
Continued experimentation showed that this does not change with further shooting. Nor will the shoulder go numb.

6. One should shoot the .22 rifle FIRST.

7. The scope on the Savage MKII rifle I won in the raffle can be as much as 20" (L/R) off  POI (at 50 yards) and still have enough adjustment to move onto target.  (but that is a lot of clicks)

8. The Savage MKII rifle/scope combination is capable of shooting single hole 5 shot groups at 50 yds (even with a badly bruised shoulder) with Federal Bulk ammunition until I get tired and start to shake. Which is about 200 rounds.

9. Some people, say from Illinois, cannot learn to follow rules of firearms and range safety and must be asked to leave before they hurt someone else. And that, when called on it for the third time, double down on stupid by offering to shoot the other range users (all 9 of us) instead of following the rules or leaving.  (hint: brandishing (showing) a pistol (even if it never leaves the holster) in a threatening manner on an Indiana gun range is stupid. Eight of the 9 of the other range users were also heeled).  Discretion is, however, apparently even in Illinois, the better part of valor. They left. Thank God the rest of the range users showed restraint, let 'em talk their piece, and leave. Words are cheap, so they let 'em say their bit. But for a moment there, I thought someone was gonna shoot the asshole. and no, not me. I stayed the hell out of that part... , I just watched from the sidelines (behind the table, in fact) as the scene played out, even if earlier I did get in his face when he picked up and pointed the (tricked out with gadgets) AR (with a magazine in the well!) downrange when we were changing targets. ("What? It's not loaded, man".....) Glad they left and no one escalated the situation, and the only things exchanged were words. All the rest of us wanted was to shoot rifles safely. The rangemaster was, of course, late to the party and ineffective. Other range users said this had happened before. Disturbing. Maybe I'll go to JP instead of Willow Slough next time. Fewer out of staters maybe. I dunno..

Chicago people.... WhatAreYaGonnaDo?

I fail to see how one man can be an effective rangemaster over 1000 feet of firing line and 100+ people if they aren't willing to follow safety rules. But that is all the state pays for, so that is all we get. Especially when they don't leave the air conditioned cabin.

It was, overall, an excellent range morning on Sunday. Even with the added out of state excitement.

I came home much more relaxed than when I left, which is, after all the point.

Tired

Spent a large portion of the day heating and straightening some large bits of iron the old fashioned way. Charcoal, air, anvil and hammer.  Over and over and over and over and over.

Man, I forgot how much work that can be.

I hope I can make a fist Sunday morning. I'm supposed to go shooting if the weather holds.

Asbestos Underwear donned:

Q:
How many men does it take to open a beer?

A: None---It should already be open when she brings it.

YMMV

Fast and Furious

I could write a lot about it. But I couldn't do it justice.

Executive privilege....looks like someone (the WON) is trying to hide something.

Contempt of congress ? I too am guilty of that...daily. Usually before my breakfast cereal is fully wetted with milk. But Holder is gonna get his if the house van get their shit together.

If they (the house) would have acted sooner, they'd have likely been able to to do more to affect the election. It might be too late now...

And it isn't like they are gonna get Holder or any of the ATF leaders jailed. At best they will get jobs elsewhere in the government bureaucracy. Not even be forced to resign or lose their pensions.

So far, the MSM has done their best to shield the administration, but the veil of secrecy has finally been pierced and they have to acknowledge it.

There is a lot in the blogosphere that is better written and better researched than I could do, so go read them.

y' know....

When you read things like this, you have to wonder (if yer tinfoil hat is on tightly enough) if the Won really believes anything he says, or if his economic plan is just designed to damage the United States and/or the economy of this country.

It is hard to tell the difference between malice aforethought and true incompetence, isn't it?

"He needed killin"

Or something like that.

Texas father not charged with killing of his 5 year old  daughters molester.

Sanity reigns in Texas.

Perhaps there are still places where liberal thinking hasn't infected everybody.

Mayhaps I should plan on living there instead. It looks like it might be my kind of place with my kind of people.

He's at it again

This time bowing to Calderon in Mexico

Seriously, Dude, yer the leader of the most powerful nation in the world. Bowing isn't part of the job description.

Neither is kissing ass, much less apologizing.

Surely by now you realize that.

You should watch this

video

And spread it far and wide.

Show it to your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers.

Since the news media won't bring this to light, then the rest of us should.

Read this

It is interesting just what made the losses in the bailouts.

UNION GIFTS.

Plain and simple.

He took your (and my) money and gave it to the UAW and associated unions (and, IMHO) in an illegal manner.

Either way, he (and the unions) stole $26 Billion of our money.

And we let him (them) get away with it.

One hint that he's lying

Is when he says "Let me be clear: or "let's be clear".

(approx 0:26)

And, let's all be clear here, this is NOT politically motivated.

Right.

maybe I'll move to Pahrump

Seems like the people of the town are tired of the council trying to change things, and threatened the council with arrest (by the citizens) if they try to break the law.

This is activism I can get behind. The people passed an ordinance regarding incorporation, and some council members wanted to ignore it. So the citizens were willing to arrest and prosecute the councilmembers.

Now if we could only get our senators, congressmen and Dear Leader to fear the same in Washington.

OMG!!!! Hoosiers can shoot police officers!!!

Sorta.

Interesting headline for what the story really is, however. It only makes it legal to resist ILLEGAL entry.

All it really does is remove the "Only One" status from police officers and other public servants. Makes them as accountable and no more privileged than other citizens.

I find it interesting

that the Democrats liberals think that the government should keep its hands off a woman's body... "my body my choice", but think that the decision on what to eat or drink "my stomach my choice? " SHOULD be the decision of the State.

Strange dichotomy there.

But illogic is not unknown in the statist/liberal way of thinking.

Nor, to be fair, conservatives either...

I wonder

What caliber/firearm combination was used to bring it down?.

And how do you figure out how much to lead 'em?

Enquiring minds and all that.

Hard to argue with

Not me. I;m easy to argue with.

I mean this article.

I'd love to live in Australia

Except for the fact that they allow whiners like this to exist outside of a cage.

And they don't beat them daily.

Sweet buttery Jesus you assholes, it's just a posed photograph.

First, what is it you want us to pay taxes for? Tell me what I get and perhaps I’ll buy it.

Now that the furor has died down

And the screaming and such by the unions losers has ended,

It seems to me that the big thing we need to take from the elections in Wisconsin (and California as well) is that the people have spoken. And they have spoken against greed, and spoken against bigger government, and spoken against deficits.

And they spoke loudly.

If the margin of victory was so large in a state like Wisconsin and California, then it shows that the people are tired of the same old same old, and want some responsibility and some sense.

And, while I really don't think that the vote will fix things, I am impressed by the sentiment that these votes demonstrates.

There may be hope yet.

We shall see.

D-Day

Was today.

68 years ago, 150,000 plus men began the liberation of France in Operation Overlord.

Nearly 1 in 10 was a casualty.

But the plan worked.

And we all know the result.

I wonder if the youth of France are thankful that they aren't required to speak German?

Not luck

So one of the few issues with driving a Dodge (Cummins) Diesel pickup is that the fuel filter goes from "fine" to "too clogged to let the truck move" in about 2 miles. Seriously. You go from driving fine to barely able to maintain 45 MPH in less than 2 miles.

Now, I love my truck. I love the power, the torque, the fuel mileage. (I get 22 MPH in mixed driving on diesel...3/4 ton, 4wd).

But the fuel filter issue means that you HAVE to keep a spare filter with you. Or get towed. Or burn shoe leather.

It's not a big deal, nor is it difficult to change.

So I had this happen today on the way to work. Foot to the floor, the best I could do was 45 MPH for the last 2 miles or so. I knew what was happening, and planned on changing it when I got out after my 8 hour shift.

So I get off work, go to the truck, open the hood. Rummage around in the back seat storage and find the filter and the wrench. Climb on the truck, use the wrench on the filter housing lid on the firewall.

Spin the lid off, remove it (and the attached filter) step off the truck, place old filter in a plastic bag, put the new filter on the lid, lube the gasket, climb back onto the truck, place filter and lid in place and spin it tight. Snug with wrench and climb off the truck.

It takes about as long to type as it does to do it. If you have a filter.

So some older guy is watching me. Asks what I just did. I politely explained.

"Lucky for you that you had a filter, son" he says. "Today must be your day. I'd get a lottery ticket."

Dude. Seriously. No luck involved. Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

When I got home, I put the next bit of luck under the back seat, so in 40K miles or so, I'll have that luck with me again when I need it. And I went to Amazon and ordered 2 more lucky filters, so I'll have them when I need 'em.

And I bought my lottery tickets yesterday.

Update

On advice, called and spoke with the duty Sargent.

The officer in question "bumped into me".

That is the Official Story. It must be true, 'cause he said it. I see it differently though.

Could be true. I doubt it. No one got hurt, and I didn't have to go farther. I think I'll let it drop. Not much I can do without witnesses or clear video, and, AFAIK, neither exists. The worst thing I got out of it was a bruise, and a bit of a fright, but no other damage. No one was seriously hurt, and that is what matters,

Fight the battles you can win, and all that

I see it as a lesson for me. Nothing more.

Hope the rest of you learn from my mistakes though. I did.

Thanks for all the advice.

Bad manners

Or total brain dead stupidity.

So I get out of the truck, tuck my shirt (which had ridden up) over the Para, and walk across the parking lot to go into the restaurant.

It is 5:10 pm. There is another guy in the parking lot heading into the restaurant. He's behind me.

Dude is really crowding me, way into my personal space as we approach the door.

As I reach for the door, he puts his hand on my firearm through the shirt! Seriously.

I arm sweep his hand aside, lock his wrist and elbow and began to break his fingers or bring him to his knees (I really didn't care which), and he cries "I'ma Cop!" Looking at him, he had a haircut like a cop and didn't look scruffy or anything....so:

"Step back!" I said as I pushed him away and lifted my shirt to get my hand on my firearm.. "Hands where I can see 'em.". "Don't move!".

He freezes, and says. "I am a police officer. Let me show you my ID".

I allow him to retrieve his ID.

He is, indeed a police officer. I asked him why he assaulted me...

He saw my pistol as I tucked my shirt back over it when exiting the truck, and followed me to "check me out".

I suggested that he not do that in the future, As I considered it assault. Better not to do that, for his own safety. Say something rather than place his hand on it. Anything but that. Maybe politely announce himself from a distance...

He said that I had broken the law, by exposing my firearm.

Not in Indiana, dude. Try again. Open carry, while not common, is legal if you have a carry permit. I do. He thought I was wrong. And I only momentarily exposed the thing. He insisted I was wrong...

I suggested that we get the State boys out to decide, as he was County, and I didn't want any conflict of interest or anything... Can call from my cell, have their number right here in my address book on the phone...WhaddYaSay? .?

He declined. "wasn't going to make a big deal about it"

I offered my ID and little pink card.

He declined that too.

Not sure what to do and what the law is, he just wanted to leave and massage his arm.

We parted, but not friends. His arm is gonna be sore this evening. Mine is already. I have a real nice set of bruises from the arm sweep.  I thought about pushing it, and calling another jusrisdiction and making a big deal about it, but decided that it wasn't worth it to go all wookie or anything. Besides, I just wanted food and a drink.

I may call a supervisor tomorrow.

Badge number 942.

But I must say, it was a bit exciting. At least for me.

It did leave me with a bit of a rush. Actually, I was scared. Kinda had the shakes when it was all over.

I learned a lesson:

I never should have let him crowd me that way. I was way too relaxed. Yeah, the shirt was over it, but still, he got his hand on it. And he never should have. Couldn't have drawn it through the shirt without a struggle, but still. I let him get way too close. Way Too Close. Glad he wasn't a compatriot of SumDood.

And I need to pay attention BEFORE getting out of the truck, just to keep this from happening. I've had questions asked by cops before, but never had anyone actually put his hand on my carry gun before, not in 15 years of carrying. And not by someone who was not in uniform.

I did not consider him enough of a threat as he approached. And I should have. Once he got into my personal space, I should have stepped aside and let him precede me through the door.  Or turned to face him, at least. Something besides what I did. I was aware of his approach, but didn't react as I should have.

I may not have been in condition white, but I wasn't in yellow either. Gotta work on that.

This should never have happened....and wouldn't have, if I'd have been more careful and more vigilant.

Gonna do my best to see that it doesn't happen ever again.
