Oh, and BTW, on our way back from the Indy Gun Show, we stopped at a Whole Foods to buy something just to support the chain.

You heard it here first.....

As some of you know, I sell a gun cleaning product called Strike-Hold through my company, 3 Part Supply. We were at the Indy 1500 gun show this Fri, Sat, and Sunday.

Near the end of the show, a black couple were wandering around, with the male wearing what appeared to be a brand new "Obama" T-shirt. I have no idea how long he had been at the show, but the Obama t-shirt did stand out. (the show, while primarily attended by whites, did have a fair amount of other ethnicities and races but few, if any admitted Obama disciples. He stopped across the aisle from our table and I commented to another vendor about the foolishness of wearing that t-shirt at a gun show. After looking at several pistols, he filled out a 4473 and waited while his info was called in to the NICS database for verification/approval. Being the good capitalist that I am, I figured that he was a potential sale for a can of Strike-Hold for maintenance of his newly purchased firearm, (and things were slowing down as it was the end of the show...) so I engaged him in conversation. ( Besides....I just had to find out if he was sane or ballsy or whatever for wearing that t-shirt to the gun show).

Somewhat defiantly, he asked if I was willing to talk to him even though he was wearing an Obama t-shirt (apparently, he had gotten some comments from other show attendees and vendors that he had found offensive). I replied that "I really don't care about your choice of president, and you are now a gun owner", and attempted to tell him about the benefits of Strike-Hold. He kept bringing the conversation back to his choice of t-shirt and to Mr. Obama. I suggested that, while his choice of apparel was not well thought out, he did have the right to wear whatever he wanted, even though Mr. O was not a favorite amongst the gun show crowd. He replied with something about "free speech", and that some vendors had refused to sell him anything, and implied that it might be about his race. I countered that free speech works both ways, and suggested that had I been wearing a KKK shirt, he might have chosen to not talk with me or to buy my product. I pointed out that "freedom of speech works both ways", but he seemed to discount that concept (the implication was that only his view mattered, often an attitude of the "thinking" liberal). I also suggested to him that most vendors here cared more about the color of his money than the color of the hand that he used to hand it over when he made a purchase.

I asked if it was his first handgun purchase, and he said that it was. I suggested that if he had not had training, that a handgun course was a good idea , and that the folks at the NRA booth could help him find training. I also mentioned the 4 rules for firearms, and suggested that he learn to follow them for his safety and the safety of others. The man was nice, decent, fairly well educated, spoke well, and seemed to be genuinely interested in my suggestions. But there was something wrong....He just didn't seem right.

His paperwork went through, and he took possession of his new GLOCK handgun in .40 S+W (no stereotypes at work here....). I congratulated him on his purchase, and moved away so he could complete his transaction.

He did come over to the table, and, after asking a few questions, purchase a can for maintenance and cleaning of his new firearm.

To get to the point: He didn't seem like the typical firearm purchaser....Not because of his race, but because of his liberal leaning, and because of his demeanor. Something Ican't put my finger on, but something wasn't right. HE had stated that he had "just put that shirt on that morning, and I wear it all the time" yet it was brand new....I sincerely hope that the FFL/seller did everything correctly, because on the drive home, I came to the conclusion that, while I cannot be sure, he was there to find something for an upcoming story, perhaps on television or something. Perhaps something about discrimination based on his choice of shirt, or president, or an expose' of racial discrimination at gun shows, or how easy it is to buy a firearm at a gun show, or something or something like that... His companion always had her purse held under her arm, and always pointed at he and myself....Video perhaps?

Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps I will never know. But there was something just not right about this dude.

Look for something in the Indianapolis paper, or TV, or something in the near future.......I would bet money that he (and perhaps I?) will be in a story. Sure hope I look good and sound good on the hidden video.

Why is it

That everywhere else in the world, poor people are thin

Yet in America, poor people are generally the fattest?

Just wonderin....

Teddy

Lets just hope that Ms MaryJo Kopechne has a chance at him before his judgement.

I'm just sayin'.

Just figured I'd mention it, since the MSM hasn't done so, even once in their hours and hours of effuse praise for him.

Dragons.

"I fear that we have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with terrible resolve."
Naval Marshall General Isoroku Yamamoto, at Pearl Harbor., 1941

Legend has it that he stated this after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It may be that this is merely legend. No one knows for sure....

But truer words cannot be spoken about the "debate" between the left and the right regarding health care in particular, and the philosophy behind it. The oppositon has awoken, looked around, and found that they are many.

For the most part, conservatives have been absent, or at least quiet, in their opposition of the entitlement mentality that has pervaded the left. Not protesting (at least not in ways that made headlines) about the liberal socialist agenda that has been foisted on the American people, at the expense of their wallets. Social programs (some might say "social experimentation" writ large) using taxpayers dollars. Government programs and incentives that, quite frankly, have failed year after year, pet programs funded as rewards for interest groups, and incredibly expensive boondoggles that have befitted few except campaign donors of the left.

But the "Health Care" (socialized medicine) debate has enraged the "sleeping dragon" of conservatives and libertarians. Never before have so many conservatives, libertarians, and even slightly left leaning people gathered together and voiced their opposition to an issue. Never before has the opposition to not only socialized medicine, but other government spending been opposed so vehemently.

Those opponents of "Big Government" have been told for many years, by "Big Media", and other parts of the MSM, that they were alone in their thinking. By themselves, they were quieter than they might have been. Not silent, perhaps, but not organized, and not loud in their protest. They seldom banded together, seldom held protests, were, at best, quiet in their opposition to the direction that the left and the socialists have steered this country, leaving large protest gathering to those who benefited from the government largess that they opposed. Most had neither the time nor the energy to organize and to attend protests, having to take time for jobs, and family, and their social needs. Most could not be bothered to take the time, unlike those on the other side, who had no commitments, were easily "astroturfed" and really had nothing to lose by protesting, and generally nothing better to do anyway.

No more. Those opposing "Health Care Reform" have not only found their voice, they have discovered that not only do they have many others who are in agreement with them in their opposition to big government, to big spending, and to handouts and social programs, but they have also discovered that the politicians fear them in large groups, and that this fear gives the protesters a voice. They now know that their protests are heard, and are, if not heeded, are taken into account. Politicians like their jobs, and despite the dismissal and spin by the MSM, they now realize, due to the Internet and other communication channels, that their constituents are unhappy with the status quo, and want "change", want their representatives to actually represent their constituents. Not Barack Obama's style of "change", but change that decreases government, and lowers, rather than raises taxes, and a change that will bring about a return to the very principles upon which this great nation was founded.

Mr. Obama promised "change", and that is indeed what people voted for. But I doubt that the "change" that he is instigating will be what he envisioned. His supporters on the left will not like the "change" that may come about. The "sleeping dragon" has been awakened by the far left's overreaching, and will not go quietly into the night, as they had done before. "Change" is in the wind. The dragon has awakened.

The revolution from which this country began was, at any given time, supported by less than 3% of the population. Yet those 3% wrought great changes on the world, forging a great nation that 230 + years later is, while not perfect, still the most productive and most powerful nation on the planet. And the opposition to the left's plans encompass far more than 3% of the citizens of this nation. "Change" shall indeed happen.

Let us make that "change" for the better. Let us not lose our voice. Let us forge a "change" to return to the principles of this nations founders, and a return to the government that allowed this nation to grow and become what it is. Let us remove those who would change this nation to follow the social (and socialistic) pattern of Europe, which is dying, despite the help and defense that we provide.

I have been polishing a post regarding the constitutionality of the "health care legislation" when, taking a break, I find that LawDog has done a better job that I had.

So go and read his. It's better than I would have done.

IOW, "yeah, what he said"

Lefttards

Via Insty comes this.

All I have to say is that they obviously think that people can be easily confused by acts such as this....Which makes them contemptuous of their constituents intelligence. And, they apparently can't even hire a smart enough "lefttard" to not get caught.

Sadly, this sort of violence and destruction is the mark of the left, rather than the right.

We generally don't destroy property, but face you directly. Cowardly leftist tactics like destroying property generally get rightists pissed off, but make few changes in our thinking.

I doubt if they fooled as many people as they think though. People aren't as stupid as the left DNC gives them credit for....Except, of course, those who vote the way the DNC wants them to.

Power....control...

"We face a stark choice. The Left thinks it is winning. They want total control, but they will accept a foot in the door.

I hope we don't give them even a foot in the door, because our house will never be safe again."

And:
"
control over your health means the power over life and death. Once the Democrats control one-sixth of the US economy they can hang on to power for good."

Go here for the meat of the article.

It's well written, and worth reading. And scary.

Saturday, August 22, 2009

So a few weeks ago was county fair time. This means, among other things, that it is also 4-H beef time for my household. (my brother puts people together to buy the cows he selects (and he does a damned good job of selecting beef cows) so that no one needs to buy a whole cow). We decided to buy a 1/4 of a 4-H cow. We like 4-H beef, as it is , if not organically raised, damned close to it, and it helps a kid earn money for college or whatever.

So, to get to the point, in a roundabout way, I had to clean out the freezer to make room for the 200 lbs or so of "new" beef. After cleaning the freezer (which hadn't been done for about 3 years) I found that I had about 35 lbs of assorted beef, deer, elk, (and a 10 lb smoked ham from Who Knows Where) that was recovered from the depths of the chest freezer.

Placing the "new" beef into the freezer was going to be tough, as it also contains about 15 lbs of salmon patties, assorted "organic" seafood and other fish, about 20 lbs of assorted sausage, and other sundry things that I keep long term.

I know, I know...... get to the point of this post!

We decided to donate the "extra" leftover beef and other meats to someone who could use it. Times are hard here, in this area, if not as hard as they are in other locales, but still tough for many people. We have personally been lucky in that we haven't been hit as hard as others, we have decent sources of income that so far haven't dried up for us. The issue that we had was that the beef was not commercially packed, and therefore no local food pantry was willing to take it. I called a neighbor who is active in a local church and asked him if he know a family who could use about 30 lbs of assorted beef and other meat. He said he know a family that could use it, as there were parents, kids, and grandkids that were living in the same house to save money, and they could use the food. I told him to have the guy call me.

7 minutes later, a guy named Mike called, having been referred to me by my neighbor. He asked me if I still had the beef, and I said yes. He lives about a mile and a half from me. He asked if I was home , and I said that I was, but would be going out in a while...Or he could pick it up tomorrow....He arrived in less than 5 minutes.

Thanking me for the beef and other meat, he assured me that it would be put to good use. While not wanting to appear desperate to get it, he didn't waste any time getting to my house, nor loading it into his truck. I hope he can use it to feed his family. We had extra. We really have more than we need. We were glad to share it.

The thing that came to mind, after he had loaded the meat into his truck, shaken my hand, thanked me several times, was that I chose to give the food away. No one forced me, nor decided that someone else needed my possessions more than I. No one forced me to give a portion of my possessions to someone else. It was my choice, not the government's. It was our decision to give it away to someone who needed it. We could have kept the food, but chose not to, rather to give it to others in need. Nothing noble about it, just the way we both were raised.

Here's the thing....If you come by and tell me that so and so (perhaps a friend of yours?) needs an operation, and you are collecting donations for him/her, I'll likely throw a ten or a 20 in the hat. But again, that is my choice. I might not donate either. My choice. Depends....But the government takes my cash, and decides who to give it to. They decide who gets my money. They decide how much of my money they take, and decide what happens with my money without any input from me.. Make no mistake,... it is MINE. The government takes it. Technically, I am paying my taxes voluntarily, but the fact is that it is by the threat of force, or imprisonment, or confiscation of my property if I do not choose to "volunteer" to pay my share....which is also determined by the government. Nowhere in my copy of the constitution does it mention giving collected taxes to others, for any reason.

What I did with my extra food was charity, helping out my fellow man. What the government does is theft, not charity. They take, and give it away to others. State, local and, of course, federal officials decide who gets my hard earned money. I get no input, no real say, as to who those recipients are. This is theft. If I knock you down and take your wallet, it is theft, even if I give that money to a church later. A significant portion of the tax money that is taken is not used "for the common good" like police, and roads, and fire protection, and military defense of this nation, but is given to others, in the form of housing, food (or food stamps), or cash payments, all given to others without my permission or my input. Theft, plain and simple, no different that if I take your wallet and give it to another person.

This is what the new health care initiatives will be to an even greater degree. THEFT. "They" will take YOUR money, your hard earned wages and add additional money from your employer, and give that value to another person, or persons. It will not be your choice how the money is spent, nor will it be your choice how the remainder that is taken in "your" name is spent. You will not have choices as to how your "health care funds" are spent, even on yourself. You will take what care "they" decide to give you..... "Sorry, we are aware that your money helps 2 other people ......we spent your money on others, and there is none left for your angioplasty.....Yes, you have put in enough to pay for it several times over in the past 5 years, but we spent it all on those who don't pay into the system. Some of it went to care for the illegal gardener that your neighbor uses...some went to the guy and his wife who while they both CAN work, choose not to because they get nearly as much from the government by not working....... Some went to pay for that unwed mother's child who needed 6 months of hospitalization because she drank during her pregnancy.. and some went to pay for the other girl's 3rd abortion....But I am sorry that there isn't enough for you.....Hope you live long enough to get to the top of the waiting list....shouldn't take more than 6 months...

Thanks for taking care of all those other people too, BTW, we appreciate it, even if they don't...You see, without people like you, we wouldn't have jobs in the new government health care system, and we'd be on welfare too..."

********

You see, it is about choice....I chose to give away my food...You may choose to give to a charity. You may choose to tithe to a church. You may choose to give that homeless person money at the stoplight....Or, You may choose not to do any of those things.

I chose to help someone in my community. Thousands and thousands of people do so every day. Corporations too. But keep squeezing people and businesses, and soon there will be even less charity than there is right now, (which is down about 20% from even 20 years ago). But this is a choice, not a tax. People with extra choose to give to those who have a need. But the giving is voluntary.

Until now.

But it must be crisis, otherwise we won't be able to "fix" it.

Via Holly, I bring you this, without comment, for your perusal.

Remember

You only have the rights for which you are willing to fight.

You may well not have to fight for any of them, but if you are unwilling to fight for them, and you opponent knows this, then you do not have those rights, or they will shortly be taken away form you.

Let the "powers that be" know and understand what you are willing to fight for. Thus you will keep those rights.

If you are not willing to fight for those rights and freedoms, then you, my friend, are a subject.

Your choice.

Just a little at a time....

So much for representing your constituents

via Timebomb2000.com, I bring you THIS

Were I a voter in his district, I'd vote against him even if I agreed with him, just because of what he says here.

When he comes home, he should fear the lamppost and the rope carrying constituents he has failed.

But that's just me. I expect representation from my representatives and congressmen.

But then again, I am a stickler for such things.

It could happen.

In fact, it sorta is, with the removal of transfats, and salty stuff in NY and other places.

A nice story via AMCGLTD.com about how things could be. Written in 1978, it is eerily prescient.

Soon, if the liberals have their way, we too will be better for government regulation of our food supply and our bad habits. All in the name of good.

But I'd rather have the ability to kill myself with diet than eat artificial, processed, "good for you" foods all the time.

But then again, I am all for personal choice.

But I, of course, am a dissenter.

Take the time

THIS is a long post. Take the time to read it. Then think about it and read it again.

Then take stock, and change your ways. Be safer for doing so.

Seriously.

It's like that at my house. For good reason.

Go, read, learn.

Then vs Now

"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration."

Hillary Clinton, in a somewhat shrieking tone, sometime in 2003.

Today, however, dissent is not permitted, it disturbs the "ONE". He is diturbed by dissent, and in fact dislikes having hard questions asked of him...We should all just trust him. How dare we, the peasants, disagree with our betters, those who know more (because they are edumacated), who have spent time in the halls of academia and are so socially liberal in their groupthink. Today we are "Political Terrorists"

We should know better than to dissent from their opinions, their social (and socialistic) experiments.

Just think of what a better world we could all live in, if we would just hand over our hard earned dollars and allow them to spend them in the "best" way.

It's not that I really don't care about the "Pore and Starvin", it's just that I am tired of giving tax money that I earned to help those who make bad choices over and over again without learning the lessons that they might if the bad choices actually cost them, or hurt enough to teach them what not to do. (negative reinforcement.... look it up if you aren't sure what I am referring to....)

Edited To Add: another opinion similar to mine. But she usually is....

isn't it tinteresting....

Bob Dylan was temprarialy detained by the Long Branch N.J police (seems that not fitting the neighborhood is a crime in that area....But I digress) and was affable, decent, polite and civil to the 20 something officer who had no idea who he was...As he was unable to provide ID (my green card is in my other pants????) he was detained until they could identify him.

No screaming "do you know who I am?"or threats , and he left without any trouble.

If only Gates had acted this way.

One wonders.

(still, despite the politeness of Mr Dylan, one wonders why he was detained and asked for ID. Is it a crime in Long Branch to walk down a public street? I don't know enough details anout this but I wonder why this incident started.

But at least Mr Dylan didn't make it worse.

That's because we practice more.....and we do it because we like to shoot.

"In actual shootings, citizens do far better than law enforcement on hit potential,” said White. “They hit their targets and they don't hit other people. I wish I could say the same for cops. We train more, they do better."

Via Instapundit, we get this.

Despite the fears generated by the
Gun Fearing Weenies liberals police can't be everywhere, and even when the are on scene, they generally aren't as good at hitting their targets. They generally don't just "spray and pray" unload their guns on target(s).

But the "civilian protector" doesn't fit the orderly plans the desk jockys and their administrative bosses like to game out in their retreats. It disturbs them to not have everything under their control so they'd rather have everyone disarmed....even if it causes significant loss of life because a civilian can't take care of things at the scene early on.

Most real cops admit that they are all for concealed carry. It's the upper level "management" that prefers the power and control to be in the hands of the police.

A crack....A small one, but a crack in the Obama Facade, nonetheless.

Seems the Obama Administration is willing to give up on the public health insurance option, replacing it with "cooperatives" (shades of Hillarycare....?) in order to get "Health Care Reform", which is really just government control of health care,

Step one in the plan to socialize medicine, which is step 2 in the long range plan for the socialization of Amerikka.

Glenn Reynolds says it's a "Parthian retreat"...I agree. Look it up.

They will never stop, only retreat and try again. Socialists are never going to give up and become good capitalists, and they won't move to a socialist country. They will always try to change this one "for the better", failing to realize that it is the wealth and power created by the capitalists that makes the world safer for socialists to do their slimy digging at the roots of that same foundation of capitalism.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Soon, there will be no new equipment...or even hospitals.

Why medicare like insurance isn't good for you,

(or why ObamaCare will destroy the best health care system in the world)

Let's not forget, folks, ObamaCare *WILL*NOT*BE*FREE*. (unless you are deemed "poor" or somehow worthy of a government handout....BUT THE REST OF US WILL PAY FOR THAT HANDOUT.)

At a greatly higher rate than we do right now.

Photo ID required....other roadblocks too

Rep Greene REQUIRES a photo id to be at one of his "town hall" meetings. (he's a democrat, BTW)

"In Texas, Rep. Gene Green's office is requiring town hall attendees to present a photo ID that proves they live in his district.

On his Web site, Green says "due to a coordinated effort to disrupt our town hall meetings, we will be restricting further attendance to residents ... and verifying residency by requiring photo identification.""

Interesting....isn't it the democrats who don't want a requirement to show ID to vote????But it seems that it is ok to require ID to attend a town hall meeting.

He apparently can't believe that his constituents could oppose the legislation.

Such hypocrisy.

The health care reform bill?

Just wondering. anyone know?

Words from a wise man long dead

Ronald Regan (blessed be his name) speaks out against Socialized Medecine

"...One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It is very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can't afford it. "

I wonder what they (the DNC) paid for a swastika to be painted on one of their folks offices?

ASS-TROTURF

REDSTATE has some interesting comments regarding Astroturf, and who is doing the astroturfing.

Like I said, the DNC/Liberals wing has never seen real grassroots, because they always create their own astroturf in a campaingn.

Nothing is real for them.

Even when real peasants have read the bills (more likely than the legislators) and have real, legitimate complaints. Since the DNC only has paid protestors, the rest of us who protest against then must have been paid as well.

Sadly, it's not just a story

and sadly, we are likely to find out too late that we are, indeed, a second rate, impotent nation, rather than the best country in the world, destination of many, even unto risking their lives to get here.

And sadly, we must accept that despite widespread voter fraud, no birth certificate, no real reason to vote for him, enough voted for the "one" to let him and his Ilk ravage our once strong country and begin the process of turning it into a socialists paradise.

We the people did it to ourselves, dammit. Not me, and not you, perhaps, but we, as a nation, allwed these socialist destroyers into power.

And my god have mercy on our country.

Read this.

Weep.

Just in case you really don't know how...

HERE is an easy way to find your reps, congressmen, state legislators, etc.

http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt

Just enter yer zip code.

One might consider it a first step in target reconnaissance.

THere's probably gonna be more of this

Unless incidents like THIS are actually DNC creations....Since they seem to believe that headlines are reality, and legitimate protest MUST be astroturf....(no doubt because without their organizing the masses, there would never be a protest in favor of their actions).

Eventually, however, the constituents are just gonna show up with rope, and torches, and pitchforks and make their wishe4s even plainer than they have now.

And already the "town hall" meetings are policed heavily...

If only these non representing representatives and congressmen would get the message.....THe people , the true (not astroturfed by the DNC) grassroots, made up of conservatives, liberals, and in between folks DON"T WANT THE$ GOVERNMENT CONTROLLING HEALTHCARE. THere are enough of us that those who vote for it should fear, not only for their jobs, but fear for their very safety.

I'm not advocating violence here, but you can't piss off this many people and not have a real crazy or two get really mad.

And the police won't be able to stop it, should it ever becone a mob violence thing. And if they keep on this path, it will.

Good thing for these non-representing congressmen and members of the house that most of us are (fairly) peaceful, law abiding folks...

So far.

Scary.

Mobs.....RIIIIIIIIGHT

Seems that the DNC is feeling the heat. Either they are really stupid, and can't tell "grassroots" from "Astroturf", or they are feeling the heat and have gone to trying to discredit all of you (us) who have protested this debacle of a health care bill.

They'd rather lie than admit that over 50% of the citizens of the US dislike this so called reform.

Here is their message about us and the MOBS we run with...Paid for (i must have missed getting my check) by greedy insurance companies and the like.

Lies lies lies..

Michelle Malkin has examples of "mobs" on her site.

Perhaps the fact that they are unable to get a "mob" of protesters without bussing them onto their protests is lost on them. They may well be unable to fathom the concept that some of us actually take an interest in things, and choose to protest (it's that pesky first amendment again) without someone telling us where and when to do so.

I guess that the only thing that they have is the spin to work with.

I think it shows that they are scared. Scared of failing. Scared of us. Scared that we, the people are gonna get in the way of their agenda. Scared that we will finally stand up and say "no more".

As it is, I think that this, coupled with the stimulus bitll, is gonna cause a drastic change in the makeup of our senate and house. People are finally beginning to realize what liberals really stand for.

And that isn't a bad thing at all.

dissent....rat out your friends and family!

Since the DNC and the Obama administration can't spin things quickly enough (see my previous post), the White House has asked all good citizens to rat out their neighbors, friends, and family that dislikes and/or publicly dissents on the Health Care Plan.

Seems somewhat reminiscent of the brownshirts in....1939? '40?

So dissent is no longer "the highest form of patriotism" anymore, I guess. It's only against the left's opponents that dissent is good.

BE CAREFUL what you say.....and to whom you say it.

Lets hope that they aren't like the PHONE COPS..... (5:40).

No mater how the left spins it

The fact is that all the protesters that show up at pro-ObamaCare rallies have researched the subject, understand the bill, and have valid objections. So much so, that the senators are apparently canceling town hall type meetings.

And no, we aren't organized by the insurance companies, the hospitals, or any other organization.

We are there because we care enough to protest a bill that will dismantle the best health care system in the world.

It's grassroots, not astroturf.

But to the left, there is no difference. They cannot make grassroots happen, so they have to have astroturf.

To them, all grassroots is astroturf.
